Diving in all conditions, and if your budget allows, dual strobes would be ideal.

Now is the time to add another piece of equipment...or two! Underwater flash systems are a critical part of photographing marine life and get the contrast and color back into the equation.
Lighting for underwater photography has its unique set of challenges but the rewards can be beautiful. And when you're lighting underwater macro photography, it's all the more challenging...and rewarding!
Macro underwater photography is a great place to start your journey in underwater photography. It’s much simpler than wide angle, and good shots can be achieved with much less gear.
One of the biggest challenges of photographing in water—as opposed to air—is dealing with small dust-like particles that are in the water. They are the enemy of underwater photography.

The Sea & Sea YS-D1 is a compact slave strobe that can be used for wide-angle or macro photography above and under that water. An external flash is your most important accessory for UW photography. The ocean is one big, blue filter. As you descend, the reds and oranges quickly become muted shades of blue and gray. This strobe light will bring back your subjects' natural colors. The YS-D1 is a breakthrough in the market featuring a maximum guide number of 32 for 80x80 degrees, 24 for 100x100 degrees or 20 for 120x120 degrees.
