Review Summary
2014-01-06T19:00:00
I bought this mainly for its high speed shooting capability So far, more than 7000 pictures were taken with this set. The battery life exceeds my expectation. It can last about 1500 shots with the following setups: turned off flash, set the LCD display to low, fine JPG (highest resolution) , continuous shot (5 fps). Mostly are manual and shutter priority. The battery has been charged 4 times during this period of time. The performance/quality for outdoor sports when there is good lights are good, and meets my expectations. The performance/quality for indoor sports (or low light) is not good, but was anticipated before I decide to buy. ISO 800 and above show obvious grain. Manual focus is difficult, for example, I find it difficult to focus on a panther behind the cage, or a fish in a tank, a rain-drop in a leaf where manual focus is preferred. I like the size, which is another reason I bought it. I can use it more in daily casual situation. The review is for this set only (Nikon 1 J3 with the 10-30mm, f/3.5-5.6 lense). I would give it a 4 star if the set were J3 with the 18.5mm, f/1.8 lense.

Going from a large SLR camera was hard at first; but it was all up hill from there. Great quality on both the pictures and the viedos. A fast high speed storage media card is a plus for those videos. The 10mm by 110mm lens would be ideal. A great little camera that is very easy to use.
