Solid build quality, simple operation, good resolution, plus outstanding dual stabilization between lens and camera body make the 100-300mm zoom and my Lumix G95 an excellent midrange bird and wildlife shooting combination.

It's a solid lens. It does what I'd want it to, is nice and sharp, etc. It's not going to change your life, but it works well.

For me this seemed to be the best bang for the buck. Amazing reach with really good sharpness at a great price. I am really enjoying the compositions I can get with it.

Had difficulty in focusing birds so returned it. Good service from Adorama and no problem in returns, so buy with confidence.

This is a very compact mid-level MFT telephoto lens which for me produces very good image quality, especially at the long end where I take most of my photos. I'm not a pro or a photo expert but this lens on my small MFT camera is a perfect nature/wildlife combo and the price fit my budget.

Used the Lumix 100-300mm to photograph the moon, shooting 2 stops under for the brightness. Both on a tripod and handheld the craters of the moon were crisp & clear at 300mm (600mm equivalent). I was very please with how easy it was.

I've been using this lens on my BMPCC4K for a year now. It's a great workhorse and gets the job done in most of my shoots. Don't really bother on changing the lens because I get what I need. For shots that require a more cinematic look I go with my sigma collection.

I am an amateur photographer and I have taken up birding in my retirement and bird photography is now my hobby. I have a Lumix fz-80 and decided to upgrade to a camera body with interchangeable lenses. I purchased a Lumix G85 camera which comes with a 12-60mm lens as part of a bundle which included a 45-150mm lens. I wanted a longer focal length lens and decided on the 100-300mm f4.0-5.6 zoom lens to round out my collection (200-600mm 35mm equivalent). Using the tele conversion feature on the camera I get a 2x increase in focal length (using small picture size) which in effect gives me a 400-1200mm telephoto lens (35mm eq.). Picture quality is very good, as expected. Now close-ups of birds is achievable and I definitely made the right choice. The lens is lighter than expected and I like the stabilization switch which allows power savings when not shooting. The lens is splash and dust proof and includes a lens hood like my other lenses. I highly recommend this lens.

The lens is great, and the bundle had a few things I needed. The 100-300mm lens performs well and it completed my list of required lenses. Highly recommend.

What an amazing picture. Makes all our other cameras look terrible in comparison. We're using the GH5 for live production with the 100-300mm Vario lense. Using the clean hdmi out, converting to sdi, and then on to the switcher. Love it. Will probably buy another.

I use this lens with a Pansonic G9 and it sometimes will not autofocus and I'm sure that I'm more than 5 feet from the subject. I know we shouldn't compare micro 4/3 to Canon lenses but this thing is no substitute for my Canon 100-400mm mark i lens. I like to photograph butterflies and dragonflies and that can be done only if the subject isn't moving and the lens feels like focusing. I also have the Olympus 75-300 and that isn't much better on my Olympus OMD-E-M1 mark i.

This lens is perfect for so many things. I find the 1.5m minimum distance easy to work with small insect recording, (bees on flowers) to be about right. Took it to the top of a 10,000 foot peak and love the distance covered by this lens. Tested it with raw images at both 100mm and 300mm handheld and it performs as expected, very good. Thanks Adorama for the free accessory kit items, used most of them already with pleasing results. Using the Lumix GH5 for all my work these days and this lens really is a good addition. There are better lenses, but this one seems suitable for long shots. The bee is recorded @ 180fps in the GH5 and manual focus is all that's available in that mode so focus is challenging while chasing bugs. Chipmunk is a basic .jpg at about 3 meters. Good lens!

I took this lens on a whale watching trip this past weekend, mounted on my Panasonic GX-8 camera. Nearly every image was out of focus. The conditions were not great for shooting with a rolling boat and the need for quick shots but compared to the images that I took on the same trip with my Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 70-200 DX lens, the Nikon images were much sharper. I was shooting both cameras at 1/500 sec or faster with autofocus on. Maybe I am expecting too much out of the image stabilization but the Nikon photos were much better, even at 200 mm. However, I have noticed soft images even under stable conditions with the Vario 100-300 mm lens. Maybe I have a bum lens. It was poorly packed when shipped to me, and the lens box was damaged in transit. I am sure it didn't help the lens either. I am not happy with the performance of this lens.

Overall quality is high. The pictures taken with my GH5 are very sharp. I have more testing to do but from what I have seen so far it going to be a great lens for wild life shooting. I would certainly recommend this highly.

I took many thousands of photos with the first version and they were good ... just wore it out..total locked up. New version is tighter, smoother operating, quicker focusing and photos are much sharper.

This is a very nice lens for the money. If you have a need for the Lieca with a faster aperture then by all means spend the $ Otherwise, this should be adaquate for most.

When I first started using Olympus OM-D camera bodies I picked up an Olympus 75-300mm f/4.8-6.7 II lenses as a compact, light-weight long telephoto zoom. The performance was acceptable, but I really wanted a lens with weather proofing, that was a little faster, and hopefully sharper. Recently I discovered the Panasonic 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II. It seemed to be a better fit for my needs, so I ordered one. It works like a champ! Even though I cannot use the Power O.I.S. of the lens with Olympus bodies, there are no issues with stabilization on an OM-D. The lens focuses quickly, accurately, and is feels good in hand (nice zoom feel). The images are sharper than my older Olympus lens, and are better than I expected for a modestly priced lens. If you want a long telephoto zoom lens that will not weight down your bag, and can carry almost anytime you’re out, this is a great option. I am glad I upgraded.

This is good intermediate Zoom lens but lacks the sharpness of the 100-400 P/Leica. Also it is a tad bit slow in Auto Focus mode. Things are not that sharp at full 300/600 Range and focus point moves around a bit. Hope this gets fixed with a firmware update since some of this stuff existed with Version I also and was supposed to have been fixed with this new version II.

Very good tele zoom
By Helmut S.
I have been a photographer all my life but after my professional years switched to the 4/3 system due to its portability for travel. Panasonic was the brand of choice. I recently acquired two GX8 bodies because pro video is not my first priority and the camera handles very nicely in comparison to the bulky full frame cameras and packs nicely into a very portable camera bag. Also frankly, if you don't do fancy advertising work as I had to do in the past and even for most exhibitions the nowada...

Panasonic LUMIX Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds lenses deliver a no-compromise approach to optical performance for modern interchangeable camera enthusiasts. This *100-300mm F4.0-5.6 classic enhanced lens has been updated for the outdoors with a splashproof and dustproof design (when mounted on a compatible LUMIX G Mirrorless camera). Now featuring Power O.I.S. optical image stabilization compatibility with 5-Axis Dual I.S. 2.0 (Image Stabilization) you'll shoot with unprecedented hand-held stability. Make the switch from bulky DSLRs to the smaller, lighter, more compact Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds system cameras and lenses from Panasonic LUMIX. (*200-600mm 35mm Camera Lens Equivalent)
TELEPHOTO 100-300mm / F4.0-5.6
Drawing subjects in from a distance, this 300mm (35mm camera equivalent: 600mm) ultra-telephoto zoom lens is ideal for capturing intense action sports, or even animals you couldn't normally get close to. Unlike conventional lenses, LUMIX G lenses like this one are small, lightweight and fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. Now you can take professional-looking shots of an athlete - and even capture individual drops of water falling through the air.
SPLASH AND DUSTPROOF
Brave the elements in nearly any kind of weather or shooting location. This lens features a splash/dustproof construction* that is tough enough to withstand even heavy field use. It protects the lens system inside from sand, rain and more, making it perfect for shooting under harsh conditions. Now there is nothing holding you back from capturing the creative nature or landscape shots you want.
*The lens supports this feature in conjunction with splash/dustproof LUMIX cameras.
POWER O.I.S.
Capture scenes carefree or at the spur of the moment. The optical image stabilization (O.I.S.) technology built directly into the lens ensures your photos will look great, with sharp blur-free contours across the entire picture.
Taking highly popular MEGA O.I.S. further, this advanced technology immediately compensates even large camera shake and vibrations that may occur in photography. So you can capture true-to-life scenes without the need for a tripod. In the end, you'll enjoy wonderfully crisp images.
VIDEO SUPPORT
With video support any user has everything they need for recording with their LUMIX camera. Not only does it perform smooth aperture changes, so there are no sudden jumps in exposure, it also boasts a silent design for enhanced capture of the scene's audio. What's more, the stunning AF performance of this lens records excellent 4K video, where precise focusing is essential.
Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lenses correct chromatic aberration rendering sharp, high-contrast images with clear colors from corner to corner.
For lenses that are capable of compensating distortion, the horizontal axis of the MTF shows the distance from the center of the corrected image.
