I have owned close to 10 differenty Sony handycams and this one has really amazed me! It has an amazing zoom, large wide LCD screen to be able to view what you are recording and at the same time enjoy what is going on right in front of you. I enjoy setting mine up on the tripod and seeing how far this zoom will really reach. It will out zoom what you can control by holding it in your hand. I love the hybird approach for those of us who just arent totally ready to go to memory stick alone. The dual sided recordable mini DVD disks are perfect and make me have an added piece of mind that I have my videos backed up! Love it and would recommend it to all!

We had always wanted to get a newer camcorder to record our 2 boys sports events. We wanted something that was easy to use and easy to copy the recording to our computer or a dvd to watch on TV. this camcorder was exactly what we wanted. sooo easy to use, great picture .. just great. and what a great price --

It's an older model but it works great. It also comes with an infrared sensor that lets you use your camera in the dark. I don't know what its price is because my dad bought it. It comes with an outstanding Zeiss lens. It takes crystal clear videos and photographs. You might be able to buy one off of the internet or at a used electronics store.

It's an amazing camera. I only have one gripe. ONE pixel of the device died, so now my videos have a blue dot, dead center of them. Oh well. That is the only problem I've had. And if I had to chose between this and another camera, I'd choose this one because Sony has never let me down

This camera surprised me. I thought the inside area where you place the DVD's was tender & hard to attach, but I was wrong. Its plenty tough enough. And quite easy to attach dvd's. This camera won't work completely with no ability to stream with Windows 7 but you can burn a dvd and play it on your PC dvd player or a regular dvd player. The little disc's quality is pretty good. The closeup's in low light were stellar!

I received this camera as a birthday gift in April 2009. I have taken pictures and made videos. I must say I read some of the other reviews and do not agree that the pictures are fuzzy or the videos are grainy. I have made great quality videos and gotten clear pictures. I love my camcorder and have used it so much this school year. As for the price, I think we've gotten more than expected.

For the price this is a very user friendly camcorder and is easy to maneuver. We took it on a family vacation to Yellowstone and used the discs to record from the camcorder and used the memory stick for the still images. I was extremely disappointed in the still images. When we came back from our vacation and I looked through our pictures after having them printed I was shocked and how poor the quality was. Whatever you do, do NOT use the still images portion of the camcorder. The pictures were very fuzzy and the color was bad. That being said, when we watched back the video portion of our vacation we were quite pleased with how it turned out. The recordings were fairly clear and crisp. A little grainy but all in all the video turned out quite well. Again you have to consider the price. You are not going to have excellent quality for the price you're paying but the camcorder is very user friendly and small enough to carry around with you. I highly recommend this product as long as you just plan on using it to take videos.

I fell in love with this camera from the moment I started it up. After charging the batter which took about 1.5 hrs. I was ready to go. Of course you have to buy a DVD disk or a Memory Stick first. It has lots of features to choose from. One thing you must do (while waiting for the batter to charge) is read, read and read again the manual. If you try to use it without reading the manual it could turn into a nightmare. It is a bit difficult using some of the features but in a short time you'll be an old pro. Not for a shoot and go person. If you are, then there are lots of cheaper brand and models for you. But if you want a Good camera with great quality and an affortable price. Then the DCH-DVD650 is for you. I've compaired 20 to 30 different models and brands before I purchase this gem.

I've just purchased this camera for a trip to Alaska I am taking in July 09'. So far I like it very much. One problem is that the disk may not be compatable with older DVD players. You must finialize the disk ALWAYS before you play it in a laptop or desktop computer. I am hoping to download all movies and photos to an external hard drive in my hotel room, then reformate the media to use again the next day. I like the idea of two media in the camera in case you run out of room on the disk, you can switch to the memory stick. Have to get the higher power battery to have longer usability. Messing around with disks while out may be an issue as well. In all, I think I will like this camera.
