Review Summary

The M252dw was a replacement for an older color laser printer. I was attracted by the automatic duplex feature (I do try to print 2-sided output where possible), by the small size and affordable price, and by the wireless capability. Unit was very easy to install/configure, on a home wireless network with a mix of PCs and Macs, and all seem to be happy together. Was pleased to see that it prints well on heavier A4 stock (think DVD case inserts) in addition to standard letter paper, as such printing is part of my daily workload. Although it's only been in service a few weeks, we haven't seen any problems/issues and have been very happy with its performance.

Had an Okidata color printer before which had no problem printing on heavier stock for photos and business cards. Bought this one to replace it but it cannot print anything heavier than plain paper or it will constantly jam, making it totally useless. If you want to print on anything other than regular paper, don't buy this!

Easy setup /great color. This HP printer is very user friendly. It was printing beautiful color pages ten minutes after unpacking. Great software interface, power and USB cable provided, toner already installed! I would recommend this printer for home or small business use.

Will definitely recommend it to family and friends. The HP Connected feature is very convenient. This product definitely maintains the great quality standards HP is known for.

The HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw prints colors poorly. All color pictures are far too dark. Troubleshooting by changing Print Density does not improve the situation in a meaningful fashion. No other options are available to adjust the color of print outs. All the extra features (wifi connection, lcd touch screen control panel, etc) on this printer does not matter, if it fails at it's primary purpose.... printing in color.

I love the quality of the print as well as the output but the machine is quite noisy. Our IT technician was quite surprised to find that the toner cartridge only "locked" in on one side.

This printer is amazing. It doesn't scan, it doesn't fax, and that's good because it does one thing VERY well, which is print. I have a great little scanner (SnapScan) and I now fax electronically. After years of short-lived "all in one" printers I came to a reality that 1) you cannot be good and everything, so don't try; and 2) if one thing breaks in an all-in-one, you have nothing. Back to this gem of a printer: the quality is simply the best I've ever seen. You cannot get this quality any better at a professional printer. Ink cartridges last a long time (laser vs ink jet), and the price of "ink" is much less than with ink jet printer. The wireless printing works flawlessly and from my phone, iPad, air, and desktop computers. Finally, the reason I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT or any HP product: I had a paper jam 31 sheets into owning this printer. It was purchased one month prior, and with shipping had only been in my possession for about 2 weeks. The HP web site, and owners manual did not help, and the on-line system "could not verify my purchase" despite giving them my name, the model number, serial number and date of purchase. They have no support on weekends, and I had to fax a dispute of my ownership before they will review and decide if they will address my issue. FORTUNATELY, I don't have an all in one as I could not have faxed their requested documents with my non-working HP printer that is less than one month old.

This printer is a remarkable value. We use it as a portable, and while being compact, it is fast and precise.

We have a Laser Jet Pro M475dw at another location. It is also a good printer. We have had it about 10 yrs. The M252dw is less expensive than 4 ink cartridges for the m474. It works great. we have had no problems. The wifi connection is much improved over previous model.

I purchased the 252dw today (6-02-2017) at my local OfficeMax. This review is regarding setup as I am writing this only hours after I have purchased and installed the unit. I can't believe how easy it was to set this unit up. I unboxed it, removed the packaging tape and such (there really wasn't much packaging either), loaded paper and plugged it in. Inside of 45 minutes I had installed it on my MacBook Pro and my Windows desktop computers and registered it with HP as well. The test print jobs came out looking pretty nice. So far I am VERY pleased with the purchase of this LaserJet Pro M252dw!

I bought this printer to replace a new M452nw due to problems printing straight vertical lines (a lot of people has the same issue). Overall this printer works very good, but has a big flaw in its design: you cannot easily grab your documents from the output tray, is like grabbing a sheet of paper from a flat surface.

It's excellent value for money in every regard, except that it's almost impossible to get the thing to actually print. It'll print test pages all day long, but if you actually try to print something you want printed, it just ignores you. You power cycle everything, reinstall the drivers, swear, print more test pages, even type some text in Word and print it and it all goes fine, but as soon as you try to print the actual document you want printed, nada. So frustrating! A great printer ruined by the world's flakiest drivers.

Understand that this printer literally had every feature I wanted in a new printer. Sadly, none of them work properly. The printer prints exceptionally dark (something talked about constantly in the forums with no solution). The wireless connectivity doesn't work even 10% of the time, no fix available from support (I've called 3 times trying). USB doesn't function any better. When the printer goes to sleep, it loses its connection to the PC for up to an hour after it powers back on. Lastly, the printer has to waste a few pages of printing to heat up the print head or something. The first 2-3 pages always come out faded and printed wrong on the right hand half of the page. After that, it gets better. The fix for this from the support team, was to buy new ink... I did, same problem. The fix? Buy more ink again. Overall, the printer has great features, they just don't work sadly :(

A huge disappointment. Excess toner all over the printouts. I have 2 printers and both are terrible. Must be a rubbish fuser. Avoid. My business is growing but HP won't be growing with me. Even in this price range they shouldn't release this level of poor product.

The product itself is aesthetically nice, and the performance as well as ink usage is good, but that's unfortunately where the good remarks stop. The devices have a tendency to leak toner, and require elbow grease to keep them functioning, in the form of having to constantly clean them with alcohol to keep the loose toner from being fused to prints, i have had a few of them that i have attempted to be replaced under factory warranty. HP themselves indicated that the devices should be warranty replaced, however they are incapable of sending the return forms to send them back. After numerous attempts i have decided the best course of action is simply to just return them and get another brand. HP Printers of years ago, the 4SI, 5SI, 4000 series are all work horses, and i expected the same quality, unfortunately these are worse for build quality than the 18 dollar printers you get at walmart.. while these are faster, they don't last as long. They also have a bug in the Bios that if they go to sleep and are networked, you physically have to reboot them to print. HP quality is far from what it used to be.. Stay clear.. Signed IT

Once set up, could not get the unit to print color (the prime reason for the purchase) ; it only printed color when printing test sheet. The software had no option for printing color, so color documents would not print color. I promptly returned the unit for a full refund. Very, Very disappointed in HP to sell a product advertising color when the software does not offer color printing options. Did not want to go through the normal hassle in today's world of band-aid fixes after a sale that should not happen or have to be.

We originally purchased this in March 2016 and replaced it once. Now we will send it back for a refund (thanks to Square Trade warranty). The same problem has recurred randomly, even after 2 hours of phone support by an HP tech. Windows 10/Microsoft Word 2013 or 2016 - printing a 30-100 pg document, 1-4 copies, printer suddenly stops pulling paper from Tray 2 and only accepts one sheet at a time from the manual feed Tray 1. All attempts to fix this have failed. Tried with different PC, rebooted PC, restarted printer, no luck. Amazon will get this lemon back.

Very disappointed with this printer. The ink does not fuse to the paper. It just marks up the rollers and makes a mess of whatever you're trying to print. Wouldn't consider printing photos. The ink actually rubs and flakes off of the paper. I tried different settings and types of paper with no avail. I returned the first printer assuming it must be defective - thought HP, good name but the second one is just as bad.

This printer works so good in my office I'm buying it for my home. We've had it for over a year and we put this thing through the test daily at it comes through every single time. We love it, colors print vibrate. We haven't had to change the toner yet either.

This printer performs well printing on paper, but cannot handle card stock. Printer constantly jams using card stock. I have yet to be successful printing Avery Business Cards on this printer. Color quality is very good.

I'm technologically challenged but had no problem setting up my new M252DW. The touchscreen is great. Only glitch was that it went OFFLINE overnight but when I turned it off and back on it seemed to find the network. I checked the HP help blog and someone reported this same problem last year and HP techie responded that a firmware update would correct this OLD problem. Well HP the problem still exists but for now I will live with it.

Purchased this in July printed about 300 pages and then less than a month later. The gears start grinding and we get a 59.C0 error. Sending it back, hopefully I can find something else that uses the same ink. Because after reading reviews this seems to be a fairly common issue.

I have owned HP LaserJet printers since the very first one marketed decades ago. This is my favorite. Perfect for home or home office use. Remarkably compact and efficient with high quality output. Works very well with mobile devices and on a network. Effortless printing from my iPhone. Paper feeding and duplex printing work well -- paper jams have been very infrequent and are easy to fix. Main paper tray capacity is limited which is not a major problem for me since I rarely print large documents. Small capacity ink cartridges supplied with unit have much less capacity than 201 standard or X series, but lasted a surprisingly long time (I kept the printer in toner save mode, which saves about 15% with each printing, but quality remained very good). Best to pay a little more and replace with 201X series when the samples run out. Single feed tray works much better than my older 2605dn printer did. Color touch screen is a nice improvement also. Printer communicates with HP over the internet and printer provides good guidance on toner status. Wish HP had a cost-saving cartridge replacement program similar to what they offer with their InkJet series of printers. Highly recommend this printer. Note: I found the supplied Kofax VRS Test Console software a bit confusing at first but it is versatile. Warning: the full purchase licensed professional version of Kofax VRS is quite expensive, but most users will find the supplied version to be adequate.

Positives: Very easy setup for network printing. Prints fast with high quality text and good looking graphics. Easily splits large prints across multiple pages. Operates cool (without heating up the room). Extremely reliable so far. Negatives: Small paper tray (not an issue if you don't do large printouts). Nosy when printing - Sometimes, I think it has a paper jam. Driver randomly switches the printer out of sleep mode. Overall: This is an excellent product for home / light duty use.

This is a fantastic printer! I have the HP print service on my mobile devices all of them print smoothly to this printer. And of course all my computers print perfectly to it. The printer is quick and easy to set up. Terrific product!

I purchased this printer for my home office and I am very happy with it. The wireless setup with my Mac was easy. The print is crisp and the color is good. My only criticism is that I wish the paper tray was bigger -- but that's not enough for me to dislike this printer.

It always goes offline, requires constant re-installment and after 5 month stopped printing from computer wirelessly all together. It connects to wireless network but does not recognize it at the same time. I was always able to get it to print eventually every time this issue occurred but this last time it just not budgeting. I should not have to spent hours and hours trying to get it to work wirelessly,
