This is a major upgrade to my previous ball head. It is heavy duty and rock solid, and the controls are easy to use. The only downside is the position of the knob for the release plate - there's not much clearance under the camera, so it can be a little hard to turn.

Bought the Sirui to use with my Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 264CT. The ballhead is easy to use and controls feel good with smooth action and adequate tightening that has kept my heavier set ups still, even with awkward angling. Do wish a leveler was on both sides, not that I rely on it frequently. Overall, I like Sirui products. Also have one of their monopods. Good purchase. Do consider their lower level and higher level models depending on your current or projected needs.

Recently purchased this ball head as I was acquiring a lens equipped with an Arca-Swiss style foot. Prior to this purchase, my primary head was a Manfrotto 3262QR. In many respects, I really prefer the Manfrotto (now Bogen) QR system. It just feels so much more secure to me, and it snaps in positively with a one-handed operation. Unfortunately, Arca-Swiss seems to be the dominant platform. So putting the platform aside, the Sirui seems to be a very competent ball head. The panning base is a nice upgrade. The tension control screw really helps make it easier to take narrow the range of tension applied by the main knob. For those who don't understand the function of the inset tension adjustment screw, it basically allows you to set a minimum friction point greater than the main dial. This means that with a heavy camera or lens, you don't have to worry about ti overpower the ball when you make minor adjustments. This is definitely a very useful feature. Build quality seems good to very good overall, though less robust than my 20 year Manfrotto. In particular, the pin that is supposed to lock with the plate to prevent the camera from sliding off freely, seems to be backed by a spring far too weak to actually perform the intended function. Also, the pin is much smaller than the comparable pin on the Manfrotto (5mm vs. 7mm in width -- 2mm vs. 3mm in height). Despite having very similar overall dimensions as the Manfrotto, the significantly larger ball makes controlling a heavier camera or lens much easier. The levels are a nice touch, but the larger level isn't generally visible once mounted to the lens. I debated between the K-20x and the K-30x. I'm very glad that I went with the 30x. Not only does it handle the weight of my D500 with 70-200mm f2.8 and batter grip easily, it is an almost perfect match to my Manfrotto 3249 monopd base in diameter. While I miss the simplicity and decades long reliability of my Manfrotto, it was time to get an Arca-Swiss compatible head that can handle significantly heavier weights. So far, I have no regrets.

Works great and really locks down my Pentax 645Z w/400mm lens so amazingly quick and tight! Great product!!

This is not my first ball head, but should have been. The Sirui K30X holds your camera and lens secure. It allows just the right amount of friction so you can move your camera when needed and yet hold it without creeping. I have no problem putting my 70D with my Sigma 15-70 f2.8 or Sigma 70-200 f2.8.

I needed a solid ball head for my new tripod (Induro CT-313) and after much searching and comparing arrived at the Sirui K-30X. I have noticed no sagging with my camera w/battery grip and 70-200 2.8 mounted. The ball motion seems very smooth and the drag can be adjusted to just the right amount for easy re-positioning and then clamps down tight to lock in place. The pano base is smooth but it seems like the lock screw that stops rotation may dig into the internal metal when tightened down. I will keep an eye on this and update the review if this turns out to be an issue.

I don't have any large lenses, but sometimes a macro rail or bellows can get unwieldy on a lesser ball head. I was using a Manfrotto 496, and I wanted at least a 40mm ball. The Sirui feels good; the build quality is solid and everything is smooth. It is easy to lock down the ball without having to use any effort at all. The only negatives I have found so far is that I expected it to be slightly smoother when using the friction adjustment; it is a little "grabby", but I think that over time it will probably get better. Another thing is that, also as reported by another user, the panorama base will absolutely not work if you tighten down tight the anti-turn screws in the bottom of the platform on a Manfrotto 190xProB (presumably the 055, and other tripods as well). I backed off each screw a bit, and they still seem to bite into the head, and the panorama base now does turn smoothly. It was also indicated that the panorama lock screw didn't lock down very tight; that is true, but it certainly seems tight enough, just not as tight as the ball itself. The last issue is that the clamp does not have side cutouts for other plates, so that the end screws on those plates will have to be removed. As a compensation, though, the clamp does have it's own mechanism that seems to fit into the bottom of other third party plates like desmond and sunwayfoto. In general, I am pretty satisfied with the ball head.

Feels very solid, I did not notice any sagging. Compatible with Any Arca-Swiss style plates. I prefer to have the release screw on the left when the bubble level is facing me, but I can live with that. Quality is great for the price

The SIRUI K-30X Ball Head is precise, meticulously machined and perfect for professional photographers and enthusiasts alike for its world-class quality based on years' of accumulated experience of SIRUI and its innovative design. The K-x series ball head is applied with the best aerial material, machined by high-end CNC and coated with anodic oxidation on its exterior to achieve its superior quality. The interior locking system has a sphere tolerance of 0.01 mm and is equipped with orientation-memory locking dial; this quick-locking mechanism allows for easy access and use.
The 360-degree panel is integrated in the base which allows photographers to do panoramic or continuous shooting. The quick-release plate platform, adopting general sizes of international standards, is of the Arca-Swiss type, thus suitable for a variety of quick-release plates. Two bubble levels are included on the platform that serve as a measure of vertical and horizontal balance. A red safety button is also incorporated to prevent the quick-release plate from sliding off the platform easily; the plate can be released by pressing on the button.
The three knobs of adjustment (from the base and up, respectively) are the panoramic control knob (smallest), friction control and ball-locking knob (the biggest) and the plate-locking knob at the top. The K-30X Ball Head can support up to 30 kg (66.1 lbs) and is suitable for 35 mm and medium- and large-format photographic cameras, DSLRs and digital or conventional type video camcorders.
