I bought the camera a couple of weeks a ago. My take: awesome in low light, high quality. Things I did not like: the unit felt unbalanced; power cord plugs in where battery goes; so battery can not be attached at same time. "A" card reader was was defective. Sent unit back.

Easy to use, especially if you've worked with a Sony cam before. A bit tough to work out how to open files in different editing software (like Adobe Premiere Pro) but eventually worked out that you can drag the files into the media browser. Be sure to get a decent mic, too.

Its a Great Camera, I have ever used. I will strongly recommend to others. The recording on consumer memory cards is great. More than eleven hours of recording on optional flash drive is a bonus.

Great for capturing action sports (football, lacrosse, baseball, etc...). I'm very happy with this camera. I recently filmed a HS football game that was being covered by FIOS1 and there were 2 other NX5Us right alongside of me. Works well with FCPX

I use this camera specifically for wedding and dance recital videography. I have been very impressed so far with its performance and ease of use. The ability to use SDHC as well as Sony cards has helped me with cost savings and I've had no problems with using either. I also have had great luck using this camera in low light (wedding reception) situations. It would be nice if it eventually was able to read SDXC cards but then again, putting all of your video data on one high volume card may not be the best solution, especially if a card was to become unreadable. I've used only Lexar 32GB SDHC cards with no error or problems.

Purchased this camera as a twin to my first NX5U to do a music demo in Nashville. Camera did a great job in the lower light segments that were shot. Video of both cameras matched perfect (as expected) and handled the multi color lights perfectly with no smearing. We had a consumer Canon hd camera that we used to shot some fill footage that struggled a great deal due to the multi colored lights so I was pleased with the performance of both the NX5Us in their performance in this area. Other than the NX5U being a handfull if off a tripod or shoulder support and the zoom (main zoom, not the small one on top of the camera)is in a kind of odd place if your a lefty, but other than that this camera is great. A lot has been said about problems in edit with the way this camera does a segmented recording of its raw footage to the SDHC cards (not included)you can use to accuire your footage. If your not going over 10 minutes per continues scene your all right, but if you exceed this the fix is to use the Content Management software that is included wih this camera ( on a cd that is included with the camera) One great "got to have item" for this camera is the Libec ZC-3dv zoom control. It works well with this camera and helps with those of us that are leftys.

I have bought 3 NXCAM myself and used 5 of these cameras for live video shoots. Having the SDI HD BNC Out makes the camera a good low cost Broadcast quality professional camera to use on long runs of BNC to the switcher. Th embedded audio is great also. You will notice a difference if you don't use the new HD 1694A BNC cable for long runs. Great little TV studio that fits in your hand. [@]

A superbly thought-out camera, easy to handle -- and it shoots in two formats at the same time, if you have the optional flash drive along with the SD chips. Battery life is phenomenal with the larger-size Sony batteries -- you can shoot all day. Tapeless video is quicker to transfer to computer for editing -- minutes instead of hours. Sophisticated options and menus -- so you'll need to spend some time with the camera to get comfortable with your own settings. Great zoom range, autofocus is quick but you can also do manual override while keeping the autofocus engaged (great for quick focus touch-ups or shifts) ... shoot SD & HD in a variety of formats, two at the same time. It's a wonderful camera -- high quality, superb images.

I've shot in many different situations (daylight, indoor, low light, sun exposition, sunset, sunrise, slow motion, car racing, interviews, etc) and none of these disappointed me in any way. An external monitor is recommended for color management. Shoot in real 1080p 24fps like cinema.

I bought 2. This is TRULY the future of video cameras. I bought the FMU128Flash drive to go with this camera and it performs flawlessly. The only advise I would give Sony is to make getting the video to the editing drive a little easier and maybe with different formats so anyone can begin editing immediately without having to convert first.

Although it's a lot more complicated to operate than a consumer-grade video camera, I still as able to get it to do what I wanted quite easily. I have done 3 shoots with it and am very impressed. I love the fact that it records on SDHC "sticks" and that it performs so well in low light condition. I shot a corporate event in a movie theater (no, not the movie itself!) and it did very well. You absolutely need a high-quality tripod with it as it will make a huge difference. We all think we have a steady hand... Well done Sony. I hesitated between this one and the AX-2000 and it's well worth the additional money.
