Used Canon Speedlite EL-100 Shoe Mount Flash

I have only had it a few days and have not used it. I bought it to use with a Rebel camera because it is light and not expensive.

Better than I thought for such a small flash. I've used it alone and for fill on sunny days and it always seems to have enough power.

Worked very well. Provided the needed extra light when needed. Doesn't add a lot of weight to the camera. still impressed after 5 shoots using this flash. But have spare batteries on hand, the recycle time increases as the number of flashes increases. Expected, but two batteries just do not have that much power. The good part of that is the batteries are very easily changed.

I was looking for a budget Canon flash. The EL-100 is it. BUT while it may be intended for the casual/hobbyist photographer, it certainly delivers a powerful punch. If you want simple, you have it with the EL-100. And while it's not professional gear, you can get great results with it!

Nice compact, powerful, flash unit at a great price. It works perfectly with my canon 60D, 90D, 6D, and 6Dll cameras. I no longer use the larger 400 series flash. This flash rotates in both axes - side ways and up, down. The flash fits in the side pocket of a holster bag - easy to carry. I highly recommend it. Bought it with the free accessory package - reflector etc.

This is Great! I wasn't sure this would be powerful enough since it is so much smaller than the other canon Speedlites, but I was impressed with the results. I've never used any other speedlite, but it seemed to work well as a bounce flash. I did notice the camera was in ISO 800 for direct flash and ISO 1600 for bounce flash, but the overall photo quality was improved tremendously over no flash and built in direct flash.

I really like this little guy. I needed a small flash that I can easily hide in props like umbrellas held by the subjects and I preferred the quality and ease of use I associate with Canon. I was pleasantly surprised at additional benefits I wasn't expecting. I still use the older 580EXII flash with its optical transmission. And since Canon has moved to radio transmissions I figured I wouldn't be able to mate the 580 with newer flash units. However the EL-100 also recognizes optical so it's a simple process of turning on the communications function in the menu of my 5D4 and the two flashes instantly began communicating to each other. I may pick up another EL-100 for a 3 light set up.

I saw some great reviews and have a few flashes already, which have done well, but under perform in several cases, either too much light, not enough light or have to play with a bit, change settings and other items, besides being bulky and add weight to my already heavy camera bag. This flash is tiny. So at first, you look at it and it is beautiful, looks great on the camera. Then you think to yourself, is this to small to do the job and find out that is the opposite. I have tried it on my Canon 7D Mark II with a 23-70 mm f2.8 lens. I didn't touch a single setting and the light was constantly even, enough of it, not too much and weather I bounced the light of the wall or pointed straight at the subject, it was nice and equal amount with amazing even light on the entire frame. Then I decided to check the "speedlight" function and was amazed. All of my other flashes, weather with the battery pack or AA batteries, need time to recharge for the next shot, even a split second, but this one, I fired off at 4 fps and it performed providing a flash on each shot. I have yet to try it on 10 fps and I am sure it will do the job, might lag, but at that speed, I rarely use the flash anyway. Love it. Going to get a few more when the time comes. Great product. Below are a few unedited photos to show how evenly the light hit the subject and even when not even on the angle, was done on purpose to create a different prospective, but love how easy it is to control this one. Haven't tried off the camera yet, but pretty sure it will be amazing.

There is a lot packed into a small package. A little more expensive than some third party units, but well worth the extra cost. Very solid and well made. The package from Adorama was a nice addition!

I bought this flash to go with my EOS M50. I was using a 600EX RT for my full frame DSLRs, but it is gigantic compared to an M50! I needed to have a flash for events and family gatherings that had full articulation for bounce flash, and this new EL-100 is simply perfect for the job! It has enough power to supply ample bounce flash indoors, and for fill-flash outdoors. Very compact, very simple to use, and integrates perfectly with my M50. Love it!

I've wanted a new flash for a long time. This one has more features than the more expensive one I was eying for a long time. I like that it swivels in addition to bounces at multiple angles. & it's small & lightweight. This will help take my photography to the next level, in circumstances where natural light just isn't enough...
