FOCUS!!

The Focus is not so good, slow to get in focus, sometimes it's in focus, sometimes it refuses to get there and I've missed my shot. No matter which mode, never know if the focus is going to be there.

Great for College Marching Band

I purchased this camera since lenses over 6" weren't allowed into college football games. I used it all 4 years that my daughter marched. I could zoom in on her from way up in the stand and zoom out to catch the formations on the field. I continue to use it on trips now that she's finished with college.

Great but not perfect

I am happy with the pictures and it does what I bought it to do, which is a small, run-around camera for trips. The zoom is exceptional. (the digital zoom, not so much. turn it off and stick with the mechanical zoom. The manual focus does not lock in the way a DSLR does. It takes getting used to.

excellent zoom lens

Unless I switch off between shots, the focus holds the previous shot causing any pictures of a differnt focal distance to be totally out of focus

It's taken me a little while to get used to the location of certain features, but overall, I am very happy with my new camera.

Great Canon Camera

Bought in 2016 and have used it almost daily. It goes where I do.

good for birding

I have owned this camera since Sept, 2018 and am very happy with it. I use it extensively for photographing birds in nature. I try to use a railing or a tree trunk for stability when shooting in low light or distance. I would like it to be a faster focus for flying birds but like all cameras it has it's limitations and I like the size, weight and fit while carrying it.

Just returned from week long Grouse tour

I just returned from a week long birding tour around Colorado. While we saw and photographed many species, we were specifically looking for four species of grouse. One lek was too far away for anyone's lens to reach. Only photos there were digiscoped with an iPhone through a spotting scope. Other locationsvaried from close to far. I am just starting to use this new camera. Had some troubles focusing at times - didn't understand why. Finally set it to Manual mode and it worked better. Got great quality videos and also some satisfying still shots as well. Really appreciated the small size/weight of the Canon SX60 Superzoom while travelling in a van with 8 others and all our gear & luggage.

This camera does everything an artist would want a camera to do. The color is outstanding, resolution is superb, and it got just right in my hand.

A big boy camera!

So far, it seems to be everything as advertised. It has so many features it will take a fair bit of picture taking to learn them all. It may be a bit much for a beginner photographer or someone who just wants point and shoot but it is great for the next step up the photographer's ladder.

Just Like New - The Zoom I Wanted

I am an avid birder and have feeders for songbirds and hummingbirds. I wanted something that would allow me to take photos of these birds as well as birds at the nearby lake.

Nice camera, excellent buy

I bought this camera as a backup to my SLR's, and one I could keep in my car and still take the occasional wildlife shot with it's superzoom. I haven't used it much, and the tiny sensor can't compare with a larger one, but it's perfect for what I needed. With good light and shooting RAW I can get some very decent photos.

amazing zoom & easy to use

I purchased this camera in March and used it on vacation in October. It's super easy to use the automatic settings and my photos are fabulous! The zoom is amazing. I'm so happy with this purchase; I just purchased another one for a family member. Would definitely recommend for someone who wants something better than phone-photos, or a standard point-and-shoot.

Love the PowerShot SX60 HS

This is my second refurbished Canon PowerShot SX60 HS so I’m very familiar with the camera. I love the size of the camera, the ease of using the camera and the zoom is incredible. I take many different types of photos and get great results from this camera. The PowerShot SX60 HS this camera is replacing took somewhere between 300,000 to 400,000 images before it stopped working. I’m in a number of Facebook photography groups and my photos compete with photos from cameras where the lenses alone cost many times what my PowerShot SX60 HS cost. My photos consistently get chosen for banner photos, daily collages, etc. In the past two years, at least 7 people bought PowerShot SX60 HS cameras because they saw my photos and wanted a camera that took great photos, was user-friendly and did not need multiple lenses.

Totally love this camera

I've had the SX60 for more than two years. I've taken tens of thousands of images with it. I love everything about this camera. The zoom for taking photos of birds, the moon, wildlife and many other things. I love the burst feature that allows me to take multiple photos in a short time. My home looks a gallery of my photos. I've enlarged many of them to as big as 30x40 inches. I'm not a professional photographer but I'm in many Facebook photo groups. My photos are often chosen for the daily collages, header photo, etc. I know that my photos are competing with other photographers whose cameras/lenses cost ten times what mine did. For my purpose the SX60 is perfect.

Excellent camera

Bought this as an upgrade from my 10 year old Kodak crossover camera. This is an excellent camera with tons of smart features to help you take great photos. It's pretty good at sensing the type of photo you're trying to take and identifying the subject, and is very easy to use. I'm planning to bring it with me on my trip to Iceland as my primary camera. The only downside is the OEM strap - I found it to be a bit uncomfortable and chintzy, so I simply bought a better replacement strap.

very impressive camera

I already own a Cannon Rebel sxi and still plan to use it. I got this for my youngest son. went thru the manual (not bad and looked at some you tube videos. The flexibility of this camera is very outstanding. Took a few test photos and a short video, I am impressed with the performance and the quality. Attached at two very quick photos.

Great hiking camera!

I love everything about this camera! My primary is an old but reliable Sony a100, but I wanted a point-and-shoot with a good zoom for taking on hikes. I looked at Sonys and Nikons, too, but finally picked this one after reading dozens of reviews on all of the ones I was considering. The zoom on this camera is incredible! I'm a little shaky, so a monopod is helpful. I'm impressed with the AUTO setting, although I usually shoot in shutter or aperture priority. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, and haven't tried out every setting and mode, but I anticipate being just as pleased with the ones I haven't tried as I am with the ones I have.

Powerful and light weight

I have too many cameras. In a photo group, I happened to ask a pro what camera she used for a particularly great shot. It was this camera and she raved about how she used it more than her pro cameras. That sold me and I haven't been disappointed. I shoot a lot of concerts and this camera is so lightweight I can't wait to give it a try.

Great zoom ,but problems with brightness

I love the zoom, and focus is ok, just ok. Main problem is most of my photos are over exposed and I have to go to my pc and open a photo editing program and tweak every photo. Usually to much brightness. It only takes 20-30 seconds or so for each photo, but coming back from vacation with 1500 photos it gets to be quite laborious.

Disappointing.

I have been a Canon fan since the 1970's. I own several Canon digital and film cameras, and this one. Although handy, it does not take sharp photos. I bought it for the wide angle that I need for my real estate photos, and sometimes the super zoom needed when with my kids; but i found myself using my other Canons due to the poor sharpness quality of this camera. All I can hope for is that they will come up with a firmware update to correct this fault. Are you reading this Canon engineers?

Trouble understanding focus boxes

Upgraded from an sx30 because of simplicity to use and sx60 is no different . It is a great camera but I am struggling to understand blue focus box, green focus Box. Push down button half way and get different results even in “auto mode”. I’m sure it is me

Birdseeker

This camera was recommended by my son who shoots semi professional. When I got it he showed me a few things real fast because I was leaving on a month vacation. What an awesome camera. I have taken so many bird pictures in 5 states. It takes beautiful photos with little ease. Love my camera.

Excellent built in zoom lens

I bought this camera for the 63x built-in telephoto. The images at full zoom are superb. It also looks like a great travel camera in that it is light weight yet well constructed.

Swivel viewfinder great feature

In addition to being a great camera with a tremendous zoom capability, the swivel view finder is a great feature. I travel a lot with tour groups. There are times when it's difficult to see tour sites because of the crowd. I can lift the camera over my head, above the crowd and with the swivel viewfinder, see the subject and get my photos. The eye level viewfinder is also a help when there is a lot of motion, such as in a boat. This viewfinder allows a steady camera.

Love this camera!

By DeeG

I had an SX40 for almost 3 years and wanted to upgrade. The SX60 has a better EVF, it's much easier to focus at full zoom and takes amazing pictures! I shoot in both jpg and RAW and both are turning out fantastic shots. It was a bit more than my SX40, but I will get a lot of use out of it! I'm already getting many complements on my pictures.

What a great camera

By George J.

Unboxed this beauty and was amazed. I've been using a PowerShot 950HS for a few years and was very happy. Then I went on a vacation and really wished I had a higher zoom range. I took the SX60HS out for a trial and couldn't be more pleased. The picture quality is superb and clear enough that I can print 13 X 19" photos on my Pixma 9500 mkII. I have to use it enough to get the most out of it, but as an amateur, I did run into difficulty holding it still enough with the lens fully extended. I...

65x Optical Zoom Goes To New Lengths

The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS sports one of the longest zoom ranges in any digital camera with a 65x optical zoom that covers the 35mm equivalent of 21-1365mm. Not surprisingly, it has Intelligent Optical Image Stabilizer that chooses from 8 different IS modes. It is built around a 16MP CMOS sensor with a Digic 6 Image Processor, which Canon says yields excellent low-light image quality.

The SX60 also captures full 1080/60p HD video in MP4 format; the lens zooms silently and can focus while shooting video footage. For the first time in a Canon camera in this class, there is also an external mic jack.

Autofocus is said to be greatly improved via High Speed AF, and the camera offers 6.4fps burst rate with no buffer delay. Zoom framing Assist tracks and captures moving subjects while using the longer telephoto lengths. The camera zooms out so you can find a moving subject, then zooms in quickly to capture it up close. If you've ever tried following a moving subject with a long focal length lens, you know this is a great feature.

The Canon SX60 has built-in Wi-Fi for iOS and Android devices and NFC wireless connectivity for Android devices only. It has a 3-inch, 922k dot LCD monitor as well as a 922k dot resolution eye-level viewfinder.

Canon PowerShot SX60 HS Digital Camera, 16.1MP, 65x Optical Zoom, 21-1365mm (35mm Equivalent) Lens, Full HD 1080p Video, External Mic input, Wi-Fi, 3" Vari Angle LCD Features

  • 65x Optical Zoom: (21-1365mm) Wide Angle Lens with Optical Image Stabilizer for outstanding optical performance and versatility for both close-ups and wide shots.
  • 16.1 Megapixel: High Sensitivity CMOS Sensor combined with the DIGIC 6 Image Processor creates the Canon HS SYSTEM, which helps to provide excellent low-light performance.
  • Capture stunning 1080p/60p Full HD video: in MP4 format with a dedicated movie button, fast and silent zoom, and focus while shooting thanks to USM and VCM. The PowerShot SX60 HS is also the first PowerShot model with external microphone input capability.
  • Easy Wi-Fi connectivity: built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) allows quick and simple pairing to a compatible Android device.
  • Intelligent IS: automatically chooses from eight different modes to optimize image stabilization for virtually shake-free images in a wide variety of conditions.
  • Zoom Framing Assist: makes it easy to track and capture subjects while using the extreme telephoto. With this advanced feature, your camera will automatically zoom in or out while following the movement of your subject and help ensure it remains in focus.
  • High Speed AF: greatly improves focus speed so you can capture every shot with ease. Paired with continuous shooting speeds of up to 6.4 fps and the removal of buffer time, you can get your best shot in full resolution.
  • Bright 3.0-inch Vari-angle LCD: with 922,000 dots for shooting at a variety of angles, plus an Electronic Viewfinder with 922,000 dots.
