This is a very nice lens. It works as expected.

The Tamron 90 has true macro capabilities, and unlike say a 60mm macro, allows you to stand somewhat back from your subject, for example "spookables" such as birds and insects. The 90 also has lot's of non-macro uses, especially creative portraits and subject-oriented landscapes such as a lone tree on a hill in the mid-distance. The glass seems more or less perfect to me - I'm not a lens expert, but do have and use nine or more specialized lenses in my work, so have a good idea about distortion and artifact issueslens issues. The autofocus has been vastly improved over previous Tamron versions of various lenses I've used. It is the quickest and quietest AF of any of my lenses. And finally, I'm very big on Tamron as a company, both for their creativity in designing niche lenses, and for their quality. Go read the reviews and view the pix from this latest Tamron 90 (be sure to search for the 90 Di VC USD lens to avoid finding reviews of Tamron's previous 90): I think you'll find that it's a popular and recommended multi-purpose lens. And do consider Adorama as your vendor. Their pricing and shipping are exellent, and their return policy and execution I think is almost unmatched. Enjoy shooting!

Great for macro and portraits. It's light weight and VR along with 2.8 aperture provide all the ingredients you need for sharp pictures.

I find this lens perfect for macro and portraits. It's very sharp and light weight. The f2.8 aperture makes it easy to focus manually and the vibration control is good for lower light conditions. I find nothing to complain about so far when using this lens. For the price it can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.

Back in the days of film, I had a long zoom with Micro (macro) ability. I've missed that lens and although this isn't a zoom with Micro it is a great micro lens. Images are crystal clear and it allows you to tell the lens the distance you are from the object. I used it for the first time last week and it also took a great group shot of a bunch of us apple picking.

My first Macro lens and I am happy with the images I'm getting.

Happy with this lens. Used for portraits and flower shots on vacation. Focus is fast and quiet, nice heft to the lens for stability when laying in a field shooting flowers. Only quibble is that the camera T2i occasionally cant talk to the lens. It flags an error message to clean the contacts, and has to be turned on and off to return to working. Not a show stopper but if it happens again I will be swapping this particular lens.

I'm work in photography but consider my personal work amateur at best. I decided the kit lens I was using wasn't cutting it and started researching macro lenses for floral and insect shots. Initially I was set on the 60mm f2.0 but I'm glad I opted for this one. It has a quiet autofocus but it's not super quick for any breezes, and the manual focus is smooth and comfortable. The quality is awesome and after the first week of use it will probably be my go to for a while.

I love nature in my back yard. This lens enables me to really get close up and personal with all the flowers and critters in my back yard. I am a Master Gardener so close ups of all my flowers are a must.

I'm a marketing photographer for a fishing lure company so I need a really good lens to take photos of some really small baits. I've struggled in the past with other lenses including the Nikon 105mm Micro. The Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD 1:1 Macro is absolutely PERFECT! I can see imperfections in baits that the subcontractors don't see! I've gotten more compliments in the last month than ever! This lens was a worthy investment.

I have just recently started using this and it is a very light weight among the ~100 mm macro lenses among our group. Yet to use it in a fully planned Macro outing but I like the lens during my short use.

Excellent physical and optical quality. Got it to replace an older Tamron 90 mm f/2.8 Macro because of vibration control and internal focusing. Mainly for macro photography, but nice portrait lens as well.
