It is a lot of fun. Very intuitive interface, Would be cool if there was a way to lock it in place. Overall it works well and can make your smart phone feel like a small mirrorless camera.

I purchased this to replace a similar one I already had. This works great with my iPhone and gives me much more control over image settings. It's not perfect but it's much easier and offers more control than the standard adjustments in my phone.

Stated it works with most Android phones but app was not available for my Moto 5G. Does work with my wife's 13 Pro iPhone.

It never really worked well with my iPhone 13. Shutter was unresponsive and all the other functions where very sluggish. It looks nice and has a nice feel but once your in the app it's almost impossible to get out of it.

The Pictar for $19.95 is a bargain...more absolutely not! It's quirky in operation and sometimes needs rebooting. The Android app is especially troubling. It downloads from the Play Store for my Samsung S7 running Android 8 fine. My Samsung S10+ running Android 12 will NOT download from within Play Store, saying it isn't compatible. I managed to get the Pictar Android version 1.7.10 (last updated 2020) somehow installed by searching for it and found an official Play Store link that did install it without issues. I wish I could recommend which site but now can't find it again. It functions just like the Samsung S9 installed app except it complains "file not supported" after each shot when reviewed in Gallery, although all photos display properly with all attributes intact from its folder. The S10+ mounts the Pictar easily even with a bumper case, there's no physical connections whatsoever. The Pictar will fire shots detached from phone even. Speaking of shots, there's a considerable delay pressing the shutter button to actually capturing the image. There's other bothersome quirks but it IS fun using it and provides a nice grip as designed. Worth $20 to play around with but certainly no more.

The original price of about $80 is insane. For the sale price of $20, worth checking out. It does accomplish the goal of making the phone feel more and act more like a camera, which is cool. It holds my iPhone 14 Pro with a case, and works well. It is flimsy plastic, though it evoke the look of an actual old camera. One serious deficit, though: it has a battery which I can't identify. I doubt the expense of replacing it would be worth it. It's not any kind of regular cell I know of (no, not even an N cell). I guess I'll have to research it.

I have tried it on the phone, but I have not yet tested the shutter button for responsiveness. Nice looking, and adds a lot of functionality to the phone camera. I have a larger phone: an iPhone 8 Plus. What I wish is that it did not have the spring lock on it because that makes it difficult to get it on and I have to be very careful when I decouple it off so that it doesn't spring out of my hands along with my phone. I would prefer another type of locking mechanism.
