Have been playing keyboard for 30 years, mostly on Yamaha products. Best choice so far has been my now 11 year old PSR 710 keyboard. Had to do some repairs to keys, as were not working properly but otherwise has been reliable. Now have SX700 keyboard. After 2 months of use, I have to say that my OLD model is still overall a better choice. Menu is much more organized, with all key information readily available at the home screen. To find the same info on SX 700, have to either pull up other menus or look at some TINY number or symbol in an obscure location. Home screen should be user adjustable, so can add or delete which screen items want to see. Three generations later and sadly, not much improvement IMO.

This keyboard is a dream to use! I was able to record music within the first 30 minutes. As I spent more time on it, I did notice a couple of things that kind of annoy me! 1) by default, left hand voice is Always off. Have to press Left hand voice button, then if I change preset voice (1-4) it turns off again. 2) in order to block unit from changing what the pedals do I have to make sure "lock" is on. Why can't these two issues be added to the lock function ? Aside from these two little gripes, I am having way too much fun just playing whatever comes to mind.

I bought this keyboard in July of 2020, and I have nothing but great things to say about this unit. I use it in church every Sunday. It is now February of 2024 and it's still going strong. I can even use this unit as a tone generator for my midi accordion. I only wish it had 88 full sized weighted keys.

I mostly use my keyboard in my home and it's doing great... I love the sound quality, the weight of the tones, etc.. But it would be better if the sx700 also got the Bluetooth function same as the sx900..

Finally found a lightweight keyboard with great piano sound. Of course that is just scratching the surface of what the 700 can do. Great for writing songs, inspiration and recording. For recording it is incredible, use USB to DAW or record on stick, I get full arrangements, ready to go, just add vocals.

Just love this keyboard. A mini version of Genos, which I own. There is an incredible amount of sounds and rhythms and all are very pleasing to the ear. It is extremely easy to use with the touch screen and a pleasure to play. Bought as it is very light should I need a portable keyboard and it is money well spent indeed. Treat yourselves.

A great keyboard with more refined instrument sounds. I still have Technics KN2000 but sound quality is no match for that of the Yamaha's. Also I like the touch screen and other informational options including AI chords detection. Highly recommend this keyboard for beginners and experts-alike.

I compose music, and perform live. Own and use SX-700 about 5 weeks, so use a grain of salt with this comment... What's Not: Design seems less practical than aesthetic, the USB port requires awkward peering and body position to install and remove. Computers have moved the USBs to the front YEARS AGO, catch up Yamaha! Tell your Chief Designer he is wrong and the young guy who agitated for putting it on the front is right! Familiar Computer method: 1) Click on object, 2) rt-click COPY, 3) rt-click PASTE. Odd SX-700 Screen: 2) Touch COPY, 1) touch object, ?) touch "SAVE HERE". Yeah, not normal, obvious, or explained in manual. Try changing SAVE HERE to PASTE. Keys are too slippery, what's wrong with a bit of friction? I get that top performers likely don't have an issue with finger placement, but what percentage of your market are they? FAQ online are TEN YEARS OLD! Really? How about some updates? And are not sorted to model. Klunky and not useful. Chat session timed out with John, no answer, no warning, no reason. What's hot: Voices are yummy, friends say they are hardly distinguishable from real instrumentation. Styles are fun. Intro, Main, Break, Exit just great. I look forward to years of pleasure with this keyboard. WISHES: I wish you had BANKS of intros, mains, breaks, exits instead of only one rack for each style. I wish there was a strip of LED lighting at the back of the keyboard for the low-light situations. I wish Yamaha provided video tutorial for each step and concept in the Owner's Manual. Seems written by geeks but is read by artists.

I also have the S770, and the SX700 is a big improvement on sound as well as the touch of the keys. I do love the touch control screen as well as the menu layout - it is so much easier to get to the specific function you are looking for. And the BEST of all is the search function - I do have a lot of extra styles on my memory stick. With the search function, I can type the name of the song or type of beat and immediately have the styles pop up on my screen. The extra expansion packs that we can get on Yamaha's website is a big bonus and they sound terrific!
