Used ProOptic Step-Down Adapter Ring 58mm Lens to 48mm Filter Size

The ring is well machined, smooth exterior and very sturdy. The threads are rippled but not jagged. The rippling can help prevent the adapter and filters from unscrewing inadvertently. The adapter threads perfectly onto the 58mm lens but there is a problem getting the 48mm telescope filters to fit the 48mm adapter. It threads in about two turns then locks into place firmly with more threads to go obviously showing. As long as I gently thread the filter in and do not force it in any farther it can be removed again without damage. I read that there are slightly different types of 48mm telescope threads and the filters I have fit the brands of 48mm telescope filter threads. Availability and cost made me decide to keep the adapter and use it carefully.

Allows use of pricey astronomical filters on DSLR lens, some vigneting, but a great option. Clean threads, not quite zero profile.
