stylish and sufficient

If you buy this flash, one big reason is the classic look it gives to your classy Fuji camera. It's NOT a full-fledged professional speedlight as it cant tilt or swivel...it's a fill flash. But a really good one.

Excellent Quality!

So this was purchased to use for fill flash in daylight using manual flash control on a leaf shutter camera. It works perfectly is small and very well built. Can easily be put in a pocket for when needed. It is as advertised, does what it suppose to do, one of a few in this category. Very Happy with the purchase!

Works great on camera

Pros: Good TTL, Small size fits XT2 well, Control dials on top convenient for quick adjustments, works well off camera with the EX8 flash as commander. Cons: Does not play well with Nikon TTL cord (i.e. no TTL), Fiji or someone should make a compatible cord for the XT2 hot shoe, Flash is pricey. Nothing in equipment is perfect but the new XT2 camera comes close it is a shame there isn't and affordable off camera flash from Fiji. The EX 500 is very expensive and not yet available to regular customers.

Do Not Exceed More Than 10 Feet Distance

This flash is excellent, if you do not exceed 10-15 feet in shooting distance. TTL worked as advertised and so did in Manual Mode. I keep this flash on the camera and fire it only when needed, but for serious flash photography, consider something else. This flash is very expensive for what its worth, but for convenience and with its small footprint to carry around, it is functional. This flash is great for fills and anything in close range. The flash is well made, but don't expect long battery life, therefore prepare to carry 2 or more AAA batteries, if you plan to do a lot of flash shoots. Recycling is somewhat slow, so be patient. I use Eneloop brand batteries, which complement this flash well with my Fujifilm XPRO-1 camera. Overall: Convenient, but weak output for more serious flash photography. Looks sexy with XPRO-1, but very expensive. Well made and functions when you need it, only in close range. If you can afford it, buy it.

Good looking toy

Start and refresh time is 22-23 sec with fresh expensive AAA batteries.

Good retro flash for the X100S

Provides very good, even flash coverage for the Fuji x100S camera. Functions perfectly off camera in slave mode (has 2 modes, one with pre-flash and the other no pre-flash). I would of scored this higher if the flash was able to bounce and was lower in price. Though built very solid, it would be great if it came in silver to match the x100s.

x20 flash better than a popup flash?!

the camera/flash combo does a very good job for fill flash. uses aaa batteries - great to whole size/weigh down- limited power storage-carry spares. i'm going to keep mine on my camera most of the time

There's a problem here

This flash is quite loose in the hot shoe. It wobbles back and forth. This has led to poor contact and exposure errors (overexposure) at times. I have heard that many users have had this same problem. However, it appears not to apply to all EF-X20 units. I have heard others say that the flash unit actually fits very tightly in the shoe. Was there just a 'bad run' of units produced?

fantastic quality as reviews and tested it at a cooking demonstration with ceiling lights and cabinet indirect lighting.

Just got the Fuji X Pro1: fantastic quality as reviews and tested it at a cooking demonstration with ceiling lights and cabinet indirect lighting. Flash supplemented without appearing as 'flashed.' Camera worked fantastically with or without the flash in the low lighting producing a natural appearance in the pix as we see by natural eye. WOW! MORE: really appreciate Adorama getting it as no one else could!

The Fujifilm EF-X20 Flash was designed for the X Series Camera. A switch lets you choose between two modes: Auto, which automatically optimizes the flash for daylight indoor and outdoor shots in low light, and Manual for manual control.

The EF-X20 is a compact flash with a guide number of 66 and allows Manual power output adjustment in 6 steps from full power to 1/32 or TTL flash compensation in 1/3 stop increments.

Exposure setting dial
• Enables flash compensation from -1EV to +1EV in increments of 1/3 stops in the TTL Auto mode.
• Enables flash output levels of 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64 in the Manual mode.
• Immediate visual confirmation of settings even when the unit is turned OFF.

Lever for setting wide panel
• Raise the lever to support a focal length of down to 20mm (35mm film equivalent). *
* The guide number becomes 12.

Mounting lock releasing button
• Featuring a new mechanism that automatically locks the shoe-mount flash unit when it is placed on the hot shoe.
• The mechanism firmly fixes the flash unit in place without operating the locking bar or tightening the screw, just easy attachment.

Wireless slave flash selector
• To use the unit as a master flash, set the switch to X.
• To use the unit as a slave flash, set the switch to N-MODE if the master flash is the "non-preflash" type, and P-MODE if the master flash is the "preflash" type.
• The unit fires automatically upon detecting light from the master flash.

Fujifilm EF-X20 TTL Flash Features

  • Compact and lightweight, yet offers a strong light intensity of guide number 20.
  • With the FUJIFILM's unique flash control technology "i Flash technology", it can automatically optimize the amount of light suitable to every shooting condition.
  • Crafted from premium metal materials to compliment the design of the X-Series cameras.
  • Ergonomic design for responsive dial control.
  • Built-in wide diffuser can be selected by using lever on the side of the flash.
  • Built-in "Slave Mode" for advanced photography.
