I always enjoyed the solid build quality of the old 35mm SLR cameras. You get that same feeling and appreciation with the E-M1X. No junky plastic here, this one is made to last and feels great immediately. You will not have this model figured out in a few sittings, but it is intuitive enough if you learned basic exposure skills on a manual camera it is quite easy to start using right away and get great results. Highly Recommended, top notch product!

Switched from full frame for reduced weight?I am in my mid-60s and do a lot of long hikes with camera + binoculars and sometimes a spotting scope, birds are the focus. Opted for the EM1X based on reviews and specs, and over the M-1 Mark III for the dual grip, despite the increased weight. I am not disappointed. Stabilization feature is incredible, improving images immediately. The options for customization and features is huge, and I have only begun to explore the gamut. However, the ease of switching between auto-focus options, Pro-capture mode, and other programmed routines is quick and easy, and the ability to program buttons for customized functions gives ability to make the camera incredibly personalized for my needs. I have only scratched the surface of functionality, but what I have used so far has improved my rate of good image captures. Primary lens of use at present is the M.Zuiko 100-400 f5-6.3 IS, which is a phenomenal pairing.

I purchased this camera for a few reasons. One, it was "top of the line". Two, it was on sale. Three, it had the built-in vertical grip. 4. It seemed to be useable right out of the box without reading the instructions. Now that I have gotten used to the feel of the camera. I am slowly reading the "How to" to make the camera more useful to me.

this camera is not so good, I wanna use this to shoot my daily vlog, but i think it is not suitable for shooting video cuz it is a little bit heavy. And sometime it will shut down automatically, i don't know why, who can help me!!!!!

I have worked as a professional photographer and educator for the majority of my career. I view cameras and lenses as tools, and as such, have really enjoyed the build quality of Olympus equipment. The images that I have been able to get from this gear have generally been superb. I purchased the M1X camera simply because I wanted the stated advantages from this flagship camera. I must say that this is a wonderful photography tool and a real bargain at the current price point.

Great Camera! I?m a long time Olympus member. I still have my first OM-2 camera and made the transition to the OM-D series of cameras in 2018. I?m returned to photographic and find the new series of Olympus cameras have stood the test of time. I own the E-M1 Mark II, Mark III and recently received the E-M1X as a gift. I like the flexibility the E-M1X provides with shooting controls in both the horizontal and vertical positions. The enhanced tracking features in the M1X provide the needed enhancement over the Mark II and Mark III. As with all model the in-camera ?Focus Stacking? features works as advertised, reducing post production time and 3rd party software needs. The ergonomic of the E-M1X with the large hand grip horizontal position provides better stability. I find that I can take longer exposures when shooting focus stack shots than with the Mark II and Mark III before needing a tripod. I prefer the recessed front and rear dials on the E-M1X over the exposed dials not he Mark III. The recessed configuration does help prevent accidental adjustments. The build-in dual battery pack is an added bonus. It does add weight; however, it also provide additional stability when taking handheld shots. Prior to the E-M1X I did not use the GPS track features via the OI.Track and OI. Share App for the Mark III. However, I love the built-in GPS element of the E-M1X. It removes the need to link the log from the Apps to the photos. This feature is great and provides the additional layer of photo details that can be shared, recalling the exact location of each shots.

This is the finest camera I've owned, and after 30 years of professional work and even longer for personal work, I have owned a few cameras. I purchased this camera about two months ago, and my primary motivation in buying this model was to improve my bird and wildlife 'keeper' rate -- it was a great decision. This camera has revolutionized my bird-in-flight capture rate and I'm still getting adjusted to the camera. I recently spent a few days at the Texas Coast photographing birds and wildlife, and came back with close to 1,000 images. I got so many sharp BIF shots that it has been a real chore just to cull them down to a manageable number of keepers. A really big plus is that because of the outstanding IBIS of the E-M1X, I ended up leaving my carbon fiber tripod in the car after the first day, because I simply did not need it, and I have always been a pretty dedicated tripod user. The ergonomics of this body are simply great. Button/dial placement is excellent, and it feels exactly the same whether you are holding the camera in landscape orientation or in portrait orientation. Battery life is amazingly good, and the camera is extremely customizable. People often complain about the Olympus menu as being confusing, but I have found that once you have your camera set up the way you like it (and that includes 4 available Custom Modes), you rarely have to dive into the menus. If you do, this camera offers 4 'My Menu' spaces where you can easily store items from the main menu for easy, quick access. Did I mention I love this camera? I highly recommend it.

Steep learning curve -- just starting. I know I'll be learning all the capabilities of this E-M1x for a long while. Body arrived a few days ago. Selected a plain old Olympus 40-150mm low end lens for my initial pics. The body is large and heavy by M43 standards, but easy to hold and manipulate. Continuous focus works great. Price keeps dropping on this body suggesting a replacement is coming down the path -- but for me, this only made it a better value for a great piece of gear.

I've been using Olympus M43 for over ten years; the E-M1 II and Pen-F for the past few. Adding the E-M1X gives me the most reliable, tough, balanced, ergonomic camera I have ever used. Image quality and stabilization are a bit better than the E-M1 II, and the handheld ND and high-res capabilities are handy. Most importantly, the E-M1X has been superb for birds and other wildlife, especially with the 300 f/4 PRO. The bird AI autofocus is remarkable.

This camera is a beast, it is ahead of the competition in its innovations , features , customization, not to mention the craftsmanship thrown in this body that schools the competition on how to make a camera, I will speak specifically here about bird photography customization and how intuitive and next to human nature everything is laid out, I flip between Pro capture H set on C1 and Bird detect AI set on C2, I still have a lot of room of customization on the wealth of buttons that are just placed right where the finger goes naturally, there is a great feeling for the grip in the hand and the substance of it is amazing yet not bulky as many pro flagships from other cameras, I do not understand all the fuss about the size of the body of EM1X ? to me it is perfect, my keeping rate has improved dramatically and joyfully using this beast with 300 pro f4 and the IS ?oh...is another gem that will take pages describing how improvement and joyful I get shooting with it, truly I am kicking my self in the rear why I did not make the switch sooner?.Keep them coming OMD ( the sensor is amazing, and the noise even at 6400 is wonderfully handled and perfectly with DeNoise and the details are kept).

I wanted to increase my wildlife, specifically birds in flight, photography. I had been using a camera with an APS-C sensor, and needed something quicker. I thought I?d like to move ?up? to full frame. After doing a considerable amount of research I decided to go the other way, and purchased my E-M1X. After two weeks of very steady use, I am thrilled with my decision. The quality of photographs I?ve produced so far, exceed my expectations. I love not being tethered to a tripod with equipment that costs well over 5 figures, and weighs about as much. Are there systems which produce higher quality pictures? Maybe, but what?s the point if you can?t get to the right spot at the correct time and never get an opportunity to shoot them. I don?t have the time to sit in a blind and wait for a specific species of bird to come present itself to me. I have a full time job, and unfortunately this limits my time in the field. This camera coupled with a high quality OM-D lens is light enough to allow me to move very quickly to where I need to get to, and then produces outstanding results. I can?t ask for more than that. In fact, I?ve already purchased a second camera, the E-M1 Mk II and a second pro lens, the 12-40mm F2.8 because I believe in this system, and plan on using it for years to come. My next purchase will be another lens with more reach (still researching which one).

Still a mystery to me after a couple of years of constant shooting. The Auto Focus with Birds in Flight, does not quickly grab on to an image if it is closer in. How it loses focus is an issue to me. I own two M1X's and 1 Mark ll. I use the Mark ll for Landscape or Macro. Using the M1X's with BIF Auto Tracking it eats Battery Power. I have back-up dual batteries for all three cameras. Still, I have taken my best images with the Olympus OMD Line.

I shoot Olympus micro 4/3rds cameras (E-M1 II and E-M1X) and full frame cameras. Particularly for wildlife and sports photography, my Olympus cameras are superior to anything else on the market, In addition to the weight advantages with long lenses, the Pro Capture features work well for those hard-to-capture moments. To the best of my knowledge, that feature is unavailable in any other system.

The next evolutionary step in the micro 4/3 system. This the ultimate action camera currently available. Amazing weather sealing and lighting fast speed. Images look sharp and colors are just plain beautiful. I have never been more motivated to go out and shoot than with camera. You are getting the best bang for your money.

I have been shooting Olympus M4/3 since the introduction of the OM-D EM-1. I went on to the OM-D EM-1 Mark II and the OM-D EM-1 Mark III. I like the size and weight of those cameras. I can easily hand hold those cameras on my daily 5 mile nature trail walks (with the 100-400mm F 5.0/6.2 Olympus lens). I have the HLD-9 battery grip for the Mark II and Mark III, but due to the shallow grip found it to awkward to use and so very rarely used it. Since the OM-D EM 1-X was heavier than the Mark II or Mark III and has a built-in battery grip, I ruled out getting the EM 1-X. Reviews of the EM 1-X indicated that the camera grips were deep and was easy to handle. When Olympus dropped the price by $1000, B&H offered a $300 reduction for any Olympus trade-in added to that no tax when paying with Payboo , I ordered the camera. The X1 is heavier than the other cameras. While I can easily hand hold it while taking photos, it is too bulky and heavy for me to carry in my hand as I walk the trails. This problem was easily solved with the Peak Design Slide strap. The grips on the camera are large, deep and fit my hands perfectly. The controls are well laid out and the camera is a joy to use. Further, the recent firmware update included AI Bird Tracking. It does a great job of outlining the bird and focusing on the eye. I found that it will even find the eye of a deer,

The E-M1X is one sweet camera! The number of options available may be overwhelming, however, by 1) Keeping the changes simple. 2) Noting the changes made before each trial. 3) Naming the Custom changes. Make C1 for landscape scenes. C2 may be for a no OCF portrait. C3 may be a portrait with Off Camera Flash. C4 may be customized for bird photography. Built in ND filters! Image stabilization which actually works for my shaky hands! Hi-res capabilities EVEN HAND HELD! Reassignment of about every external button or dial. It is a lot of camera, sometimes with features I am still discovering.

Completely blown away with the image stabilization of this camera and lens. The images are tack sharp, and while there may be more noise than what a full frame camera produces, it is not enough for me to worry about. Small and lightweight makes hiking around with it a pleasure!

Because I have only had the M1X for a little more than 1 week I would never suggest my review is in any regard a comprehensive one. I've watched this body for over a year now and my reluctance to own it was overcome by the remarkable $ 1000 discount sale. Because I have lot of previous experience with OMD cameras the daunting menu came as no surprise but is less than Ideal none the less. I understand this camera is aimed at Professionals and so there may have been some feeling that those who buy it don't need any help getting comfortable using its many features. So each day I try to move my knowledge forward a little at a time. Not to be too critical, the downloadable manual really leaves something to be desired ( but then that is par for the course regarding manufactures manual efforts. Wonder if there is anyone out there working on an aftermarket manual/tutorial that can help us mortals out here hoping to master to a better degree this awesome instrument.

Love this camera! Perfect for my landscape and wildlife photography! I have yet to seen any downside of the micro 4/3 format. The live ND and High Res shot are game changers. The pictures are super sharp with great dynamic range.

I switched from Nikon BIG wildlife gear to the Olympus Mirrorless range. With the heavy Nikon it was not that robust. No regrets with lighter more mobile robust Olympus and the shots and reach are just fab with the 300mm f/4 and converters! Other Pro Zuiko lenses are superb. Use the 40 -150 as much as I used my 70-200 Nikon lens. Love the entire range.

Pros: light weight, comfortable grip and controls, great viewfinder and display, good resolution, menus are easy after initial learning curve, lots of setting options to give you complete control. Cons: Record time is too slow especially at high resolution, auto focus struggles at times. I just can't get the detail I need for bird photography...I guess I'm spoiled by my Nikon D500.

This is a great camera! Fantastic features. Only complaint is it needs a firmware update. It is lagging behind the EM1 Mark 3. This shouldn?t be the case when the EM1X is the ?Flagship? camera!

I purchased the M1X after shooting with the M1 Mark III for a while. I find that the ergonomics on the camera is just fantastic - - the grip feels great in both orientations, button placement is just where they should be, and all of the camera body functions are optimized for professional shooting. In terms of suitability for pro work, the M1X is built like a tank, able to take the bumps associated with fast-paced shooting, and just keeps on working. The feature set of the M1 cameras speaks for itself - from autofocus to assisted shooting modes (e.g., bracketed modes, live shooting, high resolution modes, etc.) make the M1 cameras an obvious choice for pros and advanced treaties, Highly recommend this camera!!

I just upgraded from the Pen E-PL7 to the M1 Mark5 and wow what a difference. The on the fly adjustments and comfort is a big upgrade from the Pen. I haven't had the opportunity to do a lot of shooting yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it.

This is a phenomenal camera - it works in every situation I've needed it to. The controls are laid out perfectly for my hands and the fact that the placement is identical for both vertical and horizontal shooting is a major plus! (And one of the reasons I chose this model.) The weather sealing is a feature which can not be oversold. I've shot in both heavy rain and in a blinding snow storm in just the first few months I've owned it....and it held up way better in the elements than this old photographer did. For my purposes I can't imagine how this camera can be improved upon but I'm anxious to see Olympus try!

I have owned a number of different cameras in various formats over the years, including full frame. The Olympus OM-D E-M1X is simply the finest camera that I have ever had the pleasure to use. The ergonomics and handling are outstanding. Even though the E-M1X is considered ?large? by micro four thirds standards, it is extremely comfortable to use for extended periods. I have never seen in all my career a camera that addresses pretty much all photographic situations (high res mode: handheld and tripod, super fast processing with dual processors, live ND, the best of the best weather sealing in the industry, robustness, accurate and lightning fast focus acquisition and the best IBIS in the industry. The 20MP sensor in the E-M1X is excellent and bring about the right balance between image quality and file size. If I need more resolution, high res mode is there to support me. I must also say the the Olympus PRO lens are in a different class as far as craftsmanship and resolution. I own the 17mm, 25mm and 45mm (all f1.2) plus the 40-150mm f2.8 and I am absolutely amazed by the ergonomics and file qualities wide open. I highly recommend the Olympus OM-D E-M1X. It's a piece of equipment that I will keep using in any conditions with pride and confidence.

Update: After 6 months of ownership I have been completely satisfied with my first OM-D E-M1X. After considering various OM-D options for a back-up camera for my client video business, I decided to purchase a second E-M1X. This is simply the finest, most capable, and innovative camera that I have ever owned. Nothing else compares. --- Original Review: A superb camera in so many ways --- I have owned a number of different cameras in various formats over the years, including full frame. The Olympus OM-D E-M1X is simply the finest camera that I have ever had the pleasure to use. The ergonomics and handling are outstanding. I am out with my camera regularly for 6 to 8 hour time periods doing client video/photo assignments or my own field work for personal projects. Even though the E-M1X is considered ?large? by micro four thirds standards, it is very comfortable to use for extended periods. I never get fatigued even after full days of hand-held use. It is true that a micro four thirds sensor does not have the low light performance, dynamic range or colour depth of a full frame sensor. The 20MP sensor in the E-M1X is excellent, and more than good enough for my varied needs. I have no hesitation at all shooting my E-M1X up to ISO-6400 in RAW. I love the overall design of the E-M1X. This is a camera that was engineered by folks that understand what professional photographers want and need. The dual grip design is excellent and provides comfort in both landscape and portrait orientations. Button placement is logical and very functional. Even though I have never owned an Olympus camera before I was able to become accustomed to the control placement by the second day of use. The E-M1X is a technological chameleon. I absolutely love the flexibility of this camera! The E-M1X is packed with special features like Live ND, Keystone control, Pro Capture and the Hand-held Hi Res Mode. Some reviewers view these as little more than gimmicks. From my perspective these are all wonderfully practical features that allow me to do my work faster and better. Of special note are Pro Capture and Hand-held Hi Res. Without a doubt Pro Capture has allowed me to capture photographs of birds that few other photographers can get with confidence. I regularly use the Hand-held Hi Res Mode for landscape, flower, still life, birds and other animal subjects. I?ve even been able to get very good results when shooting hand-held hi res macro images with the M.Zuiko 60 mm f/2.8 macro lens. Obviously timing and technique are important? but this is a fantastic feature that gives photographers the ability to create 50 MP hand-held hi res images when they need them. If you do tripod work the Hi Res mode produces wonderfully detailed 80 MP images. The hi res modes also do a wonderful job dealing with noise, even at ISO-6400. The auto focusing is quick and accurate. The E-M1X is the only camera I?ve ever owned that made me feel confident when photographing swallows in flight. The AF point joystick is quick and easy to use. Battery life is excellent and I have been regularly able to capture more than 2,500 bird-in-flight images and still have plenty of battery life left. The frame rates are ideal for the work that I do, and were important purchase criteria for me. I?ve read some reviews that complain about issues like the resolution of the rear screen and EVF. These strike me as quite petty complaints given the other amazing capabilities and features of the E-M1X. The OM-D E-M1X is the first interchangeable lens Olympus camera that I have ever owned. I married it up with the trio of M.Zuiko PRO f/2.8 zoom lenses, as well as the 60 mm f/2.8 macro. Overall, my kit is relatively small and light. It provides me with all kinds of flexibility when doing personal as well as client work. Having this much photographic/video power in a kit that weighs less than 3 KG in total is incredible. For photographers/videographers like me who hate to use a tripod and other camera supports, the E-M1X is a godsend. The IBIS in the E-M1X is simply superb and far surpasses anything else that I?ve used. When using M.Zuiko lenses like the 7-14 mm f/2.8 and 12-40 mm f/2.8 multiple second hand-held images are easily done. The E-M1X makes shooting hand-held video a practical reality. Overall build quality of the OM-D E-M1X is superb. As soon as you hold this camera in your hands you can feel the quality and ruggedness. No doubt? this is a professional piece of kit. Pigeonholing the Olympus OM-D E-M1X as a ?sports and wildlife? camera does it a great disservice. The E-M1X is an incredibly well-rounded, time saving, professional piece of gear that excels with all kinds of subject matter? in all kinds of shooting conditions. It is impossible to fully appreciate the capabilities and ergonomics of the Olympus OM-D E-M1X until you actually hold it in your hand and use it out in the field. When you do? you will understand the power of this camera. But? be forewarned. If you do use the E-M1X for a little while you stand a very good chance of getting hooked on it! There simply is nothing else out there that can do everything that the OM-D E-M1X can do.

Exceptional ergonomics and design. Good match with "Pro" lenses. Ideal stabilization. Several features enabled by two processors. Look for details, like tilt compensation, high resolution, and very handy neutral density built in.

This camera has been a game changer for me. The quality of my images, and the capabilities of this camera to handle my shooting style blew me away. The camera just feels right in my hands, and its fairly intuitive in the control placements for when you are shooting. Its easy enough to customize the controls to your style of shooting. Paired with the M.ZUIKO ED 40-150MM F2.8 PRO.....you can't go wrong for shooting portraits and senior photos outdoors

Beautiful Design and Function for Professional on Move
By GERALD K.
Exceptional ergonomics and design. Good match with "Pro" lenses. Ideal stabilization. Several features enabled by two processors. Look for details, like tilt compensation, high resolution, and very handy neutral density built in.
A wonderful photography tool.
By DAVID E.

It’s comfortable. It’s reliable. It’s weathersealed. Most importantly, it’s shooting all day and always getting that critical shot.
The E-M1X and our M.Zuiko PRO lenses are designed on a groundbreaking mirrorless platform enabling us to build lighter, smaller cameras that pack powerful performance. Compared to flagship DSLR bodies and lenses, this system is half the size, half the weight, and a lot less bulky. The advantages? More mobility to get better shots. Unparalleled handheld shooting. Working longer without tiring. Stowing more gear in a smaller bag. Our full line of M.Zuiko PRO lenses deliver incredible imaging power in half the size of 35mm glass. It all adds up to a more creative shooting experience that lets you get more from every shoot.
Concentrate on taking the perfect shot instead of protecting your camera from the elements. Thanks to sturdy magnesium alloy construction and an advanced system of seals, the E-M1X has best-inclass weather protection – innovations successfully used in our durable Tough cameras. Each of the camera’s access points, including the SD card slots, are protected by a splashproof cover. A dustproof design means worry-free shooting on windy days at the beach or extreme environments. You can keep working even if temperatures plummet: the E-M1X is freezeproof down to 14°F / -10°C.
The E-M1X is built for comfort. It starts with an integrated vertical grip featuring a deep finger rest that feels secure and comfortable in your hand. Buttons and controls are strategically placed for both vertical and horizontal shooting – use the same finger motion to find the controls no matter how you hold the camera. Operate the camera without taking your eye off the viewfinder because buttons and controls are identifiable by touch. All button functions can be customized and the C-LOCK (custom lock) feature locks only the buttons you want and keeps the others active.
The E-M1X has 2 long life, high-capacity batteries that can be charged via USB cable in about 2 hours. The at-a-glance display lets you keep an eye on battery status.
Shooting 4K video and capturing sequential shots at high speeds heat up a camera. An ingenious heat dissipation system keeps the E-M1X cool and fully functional.
Designed with input from top pros, the My Menu feature lets you instantly access up to 35 commands. Adding, removing or moving a command in your customized menu is as easy as pressing a button.
The E-M1X is conveniently equipped with GPS, a barometer, a compass, and a temperature sensor. Sensor data is displayed in real time and recorded for easy image management – a helpful feature while shooting nature or wildlife.
The E-M1X uses the industry’s most sophisticated stabilization system found in an interchangeable lens camera. Our groundbreaking in-body 5-Axis Image Stabilization system provides 7.0 stops of compensation freeing you to shoot handheld, telephoto or macro in any light for crisp, clear photos without a tripod. When you pair the camera with a stabilized M.Zuiko PRO lens, the combined 5-Axis Sync IS system produces the world’s most effective image stabilization system providing up to 7.5 stops of compensation. It lets you take blur-free handheld shots as long as 4 seconds. There isn’t another pro camera system that offers so much mobility and flexibility.
Sometimes you can use a tripod, sometimes you can’t. The E-M1X brilliantly captures super high resolution images either way. When using the E-M1X’s High Res Shot Mode with a tripod, the camera’s image sensor automatically moves in 0.5 pixel increments while taking eight shots in under a second, then merges them to create one 50MP high resolution shot. No tripod? With Handheld High Res Shot Mode, 16 shots are automatically taken while you hold the camera, then merged into a single 50MP image.
The E-M1X is equipped with two quad core TruePic™ VIII image processors built for speed and reliability. You’ll experience instantaneous start-up and write speeds to dual card slots, exhilarating autofocusing plus blazing sequential shooting. Besides speed, the processors deliver off-the-chart image quality highlighted by true-to-life color, edge-to-edge sharpness and vibrant gradations. Both processors work in tandem with a high-speed 20MP Live MOS Sensor featuring an Anti-Reflection Coating to reduce flaring and ghosting directly on the sensor.
Preview slow shutter effects in the viewfinder before shooting. Live ND Mode eliminates swapping ND filters for each shooting scene or lens. Choose from 5 ND levels starting from 1EV to 5EV.
Use the Focus Stacking & Bracketing Modes to take sharp macro photos with a deep depth of field. With in-camera Focus Stacking, the E-M1X automatically captures several shots with varying focal points, then merges them to form a single image with edge-to-edge clarity. It's ideal for shooting plants, insects or small objects.
Capture brighter indoor shots. Anti-Flicker Mode compensates for artificial light by automatically activating the shutter at peak brightness to smooth exposure and color difference between frames.
Change lenses outdoors without worrying about getting the sensor dusty. Our Supersonic Wave Filter oscillates 30,000 times per second to instantly shake dust and dirt away.
Our autofocus system relies on the quantity and quality of detection information. That’s why our Frequency Accelerating Sensor Technology (F.A.S.T.) AF system boasts 121 points of on-chip Phase Detection plus Contrast Detection AF across the sensor plane. Every point is cross-type, enabling dependable detection of vertical and horizontal lines for industry-leading accuracy. It's advanced technology to ensure you’ll easily lock focus on any subject in any environment.
Imagine your camera’s AF system being able to detect and lock on to subjects all by itself. That’s Intelligent Subject Detection AF. Developed using AI-based Deep Learning Technology, it detects specific subjects like a speeding formula car or rally car, motocross racer and flying aircraft. Choose from three modes: Motor Vehicles, Aircraft or Trains. The system pinpoints, then focuses on one part of a subject — a driver’s helmet, a pilot or an engineer. You only need to compose your shot.
You can customize AF targeting in addition to using the AF Target Mode presets. Choose from any odd number of points from 11 vertical and 11 horizontal and from three levels of horizontal and vertical area movement steps. Achieve new levels of pinpoint accuracy that enhances one of the world’s best AF systems.
Use the new 25-point AF Target Mode to track moving subjects like birds or small animals. It joins 5 other AF target presets including Single, Group 5-point, Group 9-point, 121 point and Small AF.
Accurately capture moving subjects as you look through the viewfinder. A convenient multi selector lets you shift your AF area while shooting sequentially or capturing video.
When you’re shooting portraits with a bright prime lens, just switch on Face and Eye Priority AF to capture images with stunning sharpness and spectacular detail.
Professional photographers crave speed. And the E-M1X delivers. We’ve built this camera so you can effortlessly capture the fastest moving subjects on earth.
The E-M1X generates sequential shooting speeds that surpass any DSLR. Using the silent electronic shutter, you can capture up to 60 fps of 20MP RAW image files in S-AF Mode and 18 fps in C-AF Tracking Mode. Or switch to the mechanical shutter to shoot high resolution photos at a blazing 15fps in S-AF Mode with best-in-class speed. It’s all possible thanks to dual image processors that ensure the fastest subjects are captured in sharp detail.
Shooting split second action is effortless with Pro Capture Mode. It starts buffering a running series of up to 35 high resolution images the moment you press the shutter button halfway. When you see the moment you want to capture, fully press the shutter button to instantly save that moment plus the buffered shots. Because you can go back 35 frames, you get the split second image you want without any lag. Never miss an exciting moment again.
What you see is what you get with our Electronic Viewfinder. There’s a four element optical system of aspherical and high refractive index lenses that provide an industry best 0.83x (35mm equivalent) of magnification for edge-to-edge, distortion-free display. The EVF works with Live View, letting you see setting changes in real time. Key settings are unobtrusively displayed so you can focus on framing your subject. A barely perceptible minimum lag of 0.005 seconds lets you chase fast-moving objects with ease.
Silent Shutter Mode shuts off all shutter and electronic sounds. Perfect for when you need to be discrete in quiet settings.
The E-M1X’s dual TruePic™ VIII Image Processors drive two UHS II compatible slots that deliver breathtaking data transfer speeds. A staggered layout makes access easy. The four recording settings are ideal for backup and management of your image and video files
Talk about durability. Our internal rigorous testing proves that the E-M1X’s shutter has a reliable lifespan of more than 400,000 actuations.
Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth makes sharing simple. Our free OI.Share app syncs the E-M1X to your smart device. Compose images, adjust settings, shoot remotely and upload your photos and videos.
Don’t be weighed down by tripods, jibs, or other bulky stabilizing gear. The E-M1X is equipped with in-body 5-Axis Image Stabilization to compensate for all 5 types of camera of movement while capturing video. As an extra measure, electronic stabilization helps you shoot ultra-smooth C4K or 4K video with nothing but your hands and talent.
The E-M1X lets you shoot a variety of frame sizes from standard HD to FHD up to C4K/4K. Capture C4K (4096 x 2160) up to a max bit rate of 237 Mbps at a 24P frame rate for true cinema quality. Be more flexible by shooting in 4K (3840 x 2160) video with a 30P, 25P or a 24P frame rate.
Lighting can change quickly, especially when you’re working on the fly. Shooting with OM-Log Mode compared to Flat maximizes dynamic range to keep your video clean and crisp without losing details in shadow or highlights. A new Look Up Table lets you easily grade your color using Davinci Resolve post-production software.
Get cinematic. Shoot in an aspect ratio of 4096 x 2160 for display on the biggest screens. It's slightly wider than standard 4K, but considerably more spectacular to view.
An HDMI monitor connection supports clean 4:2:2 output, giving you an expanded range for color correction.
Phase Detection AF uses improved algorithms to ensure fast and accurate focusing while shooting video. Choose from four AF target modes – Single, 121-point, Group 9-point or Group 25-point – plus three AF tracking sensitivity/speed settings.
