This has been my ?go to? lens these past two years that I?ve been using this lens. It has worked beautifully in both optimum weather and in extremes (temps down to minus 50 degrees in Churchill, Manitoba). It?s focus is ultra sharp and the auto focus is satisfyingly quick. I?m a believer! I really have no complaints about this lens!

Fine lens with good camera compatibility. Quiet action, swift response, good range and resuts.

If you have a full frame camera and wish to keep your camera gear to a minimum, then this is a fantastic lens. My copy mounted to a Nikon D610 focuses accurately (minimal in-camera micro-adjustment made) and the VC on this Tamron works very well. This is one of my favorite "travel lenses". My only knocks: 1. If it could be 24 mm at the wide end and retain 300 mm at the long end, and retain the relatively good IQ, what a treat that would be. 2. Not quite tack sharp, but for such a large zoom capability, it's worth the compromise. A little bit of sharpening in post and you will have very nice captures.

I got this lens for my wife and she loves it. Great photos, auto-focus is good, and versatility is unmatched. Works for almost any situation without having to change lenses.

There seems to be something wrong with the AF on the lens. When I haven't used the lens for more than 20 minutes or so, it is very slow to focus, and requires multiple pushes on the shutter button. Then it seems to warm up and focuses quickly. I am planning to return & exchange it for hopefully a properly working lens.

If you're looking for one lens to take on a trip, definitely worth considering. It's not sharp, but you'll likely be happy with its results.

When I bought my Canon 5D recently, I needed a new telephoto zoom lens to go with it. I previously had a Canon 7D with a Tamron 18-270 lens, but that lens won't work with a full size sensor. I'd had such good luck with the 18-270, that I just thought I'd also like the 28-300 for my new camera. I was right - the new lens works great and will get a full work out this summer at local car shows and museums and next fall when my family and I go to Eastern Europe for a 3-week vacation. Can't wait to see our photos upon our return from that trip.

After being very satisfied with my 18-270 lens on my EOS 50D I wanted a similar lens for my EOS 5D II. While the weather has kept me from doing a lot of photographing I have been very satisfied with the performance of this lens so far.

Excellent all purpose lens. Very versatile, great a travel lens particularly if traveling lite. It does not creep and extend will walking. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Just bought a similar Tamron lens for my daughter.

Provides great pictures. Mounted on my Cannon 6D Mark II. Great as it provides a large range of zoom. Pictures are excellent. The longer focal lengths are fantastic and the short are excellent., A great option that eliminates the need to have a collection of specific focal length lenses.

This is a good, all around zoom lens for general photography, landscape and wildlife shooting. It is also good for indoor, large group shots. Don't expect razor sharp quality, but with a little patience, you can pull excellent photos from this lens. Just understand the limitations and you'll enjoy the versatility.

I have had 3 Tamron zoom lenses. The image quality is very good and the flexibility of the zoom give you the ability to adapt to virtually setting.

I love shooting my Sony A99 with my Sony 50mm 1.4, but it is limited and I have to change lenses for close or distance shots. Although I have only purchased this recently and not had much time to evaluate it seems to be well made, durable, light weight. Focus is fast. So far good all around lens.

It's not L Glass, but it's not purported to be. Good solid build. Acceptably Sharp at all apertures and Focal Lengths. Controls took a bit to get used to, Will be taking it on a 2 week trip to Europe and hope to leave it on my camera most of the time.

I recently used the Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens at a wedding and was very pleased with its versatility and the quality of the images. It rarely left my camera the whole day. Great lens for a great price, I would definitely recommend it.

I have a great selection of Canon lenses for my 5D and 6D; however, I wanted one lens that could be my go to for vacationing and driving around. With this lens I'm able to get great quality photo's without having to carry a bag full of specialized lens. That said, the other lenses continue to be used where the application calls for them. Couldn't be happier.

Days after receiving this lens, we took our grandson to the zoo. With its wide zoom range, I knew this would be my best lens choice. It certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations. I did use the full zoom range, and it was great having that capability, considering some animals are close and others quite distant from where people can stand. The lens is relatively small, light, and the resolution is very good. Considering that the price is considerably less than the Nikon equivalent, this is a very good choice for a go-to lens.

I just stared using the lens. To this point I like everything about it. I guess Mostly I like it's size. I'm often on a ski slope, so next ski season it wont be cumbersome as I ski with it around my neck. Focus is quick and good. Have used both outside and inside, o this point it's a go.

This is my walk around lens. I can zoom close and far so I keep this on the camera almost all the time. It does a great job quick focusing and no noticeable softness in the picture. I have two full frame cameras, so I bought this for both of them.

Received this lens next day from Adora and immediately attached it to me EOS 6D. I tested the lens, shooting various shots and was well pleased with the results. Fast auto focus and great vibration control made hand held shots at 300mm in focus. Also pleased with the lens on the low end although I probably won't use it there much. Lens is lighter than my other zooms so it will be great for travel.

No this lens is not going to give you the resolution of a pro zoom or prime but it won't disappoint for its purpose as a travel lens either. Use it on my D810 when out walking and don't feel like schlepping my bag full of stuff.

Great VC, Clear Manual Focus

I bought this lens as a do everything lens for Nikon D700 and D3 cameras. None of my Nikon lenses cover this wide range of capabilities with an FX format camera. The Tamron macro and 28-300mm lens is a very light and compact lens with a wider zoom range than anything made by Nikon. It's amazing Tamron fit this much performance into a compact light package. While it can't compete build and quality wise with the Nikon lenses, it does an excellent job for what it was designed for and is an excel...

Versatility & Vibration Compensation
By Jeff C.
I really love my Tamron 28-300 mm lens. I have a little problem with being steady all the time and the vibration control (VC) really helps me a lot. It is even better for my girlfriend when she shoots low light situations with the VC. The large lens hood keeps out most of the glare that I have been getting with my 75-300 from canon. I no longer have to change lenses during wedding photography from my 18-55 to a 75-300. The Tamron is far superior in versatility to the canon 75-300mm that I...

The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 xR Di VC covers everything from wide-angle to telephoto and macro. Tamron has incorporated a Vibration Compensator an anti-shake mechanism developed by Tamron into this highly versatile zoom lens.
The new AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 xR Di VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO zoom lens offers the convenience, comfort and versatility of a high power zoom lens and the capability to reduce hand-shake blur on DSLR cameras using either APS-C size or full-size format imagers.
When the AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 xR Di VC is used with a full-size format SLR camera, it covers a tremendous focal length range from 28mm in wide angle to 300mm ultra telephoto. When mounted on a DSLR with an APS-C sized imager, the lens covers a 43mm wide angle to 465mm ultra telephoto(*) (full size format equivalent, in a diagonal angle of view of 5°20').
The proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism developed by Tamron features a triaxial configuration using three pairs of driving coils and slide balls around the compensator group of the lens' optical system. Since the compensator lenses are supported with rolling friction of the balls, the response performance is enhanced and the construction is simple, which results in the compactness of the lens. The lens incorporates a highly accurate gyro sensor for detecting hand-shake, which, combined with a 32-bitRISC CPU, offers comfortable anti-vibration effects.
Outstanding Design Realizing High Zoom Power, VC Mechanism and Compactness
The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.5 xR Di VC integrates optical technologies that Tamron has accumulated as the pioneer and leader of high power zoom lenses in order to realize the desired compactness even while incorporating the VC mechanism. The optical system uses a number of lens elements made from special optical glass materials including xR (high refraction index) glass elements, GM (glass-molded) elements, hybrid aspherical elements, LD (low dispersion) glass elements to compensate for on-axis and lateral chromatic aberrations and AD (anomalous dispersion) glass element. The lens offers high contrast, high resolution performance and flatness of the image field as a one-does-it-all zoom lens designed to match the characteristics of DSLR cameras.
Revolutionary MFD of 19.3" (0.49m) Throughout Zoom Range Provides 1:3 Macro Magnification Ratio
The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 xR Di VC MACRO boasts an MFD (minimum focusing distance) of 19.3" (0.49m) over the entire zoom range, a top-class close focusing capability among high power zoom lenses for full-size format SLR cameras, which provides the remarkable maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:3 at the 300mm telephoto end.
