It works great the only problem there where no screws. The screws on the telescope where to short had to find screws that worked which was difficult to find, that?s why I gave it 3 stars

After reading the directions that came with the focus motor, I found that you have to get the bearing of the focuser dead- center of the focus motor plate or the focus motor might bind. So, with that information and starting from the beginning of the directions everything fell into place as long as you tighten the screws, alternately, little by little, all the way around the bearing plate until tight but not too tight.

Fit easily on my Edge HD. Had some difficulty honing in on perfect focus using automated software.

Worked very well for 6 months on my C11, then failed. No longer reports position, calibrates, or moves reliably. It runs out in either direction uncontrollably.

Very easy to install & use via the SkyPortal app - I?m able to achieve a very tight focus for high-quality imaging, without introducing vibrations when hand-focusing, which can easily knock an object out of frame or focus. Depicted is a post-processed image of Saturn (stacked, sharpened & de-noised) I was able to create with minimal frustration.

Works and seems to be smooth in movement. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was for being noticeably louder than other focusers.

Easy to install as long as you follow the instructions. No hex wrench included to remove the existing screws on the focuser plate. Not sure how many models have that type of screw, but my Evolution 6 does. I had the necessary hex wrench, but I doubt that everyone will. Calibration was straight forward and the focus motor moves smoothly. Highly recommend this item.

Hardware is good. Installation is a bit involved, but the directions are well laid out and easy to follow. The supplied Celestron software interfaces seamlessly and works well. Jury is still out on the ascom driver. I have had problems with the focuser "running away" (starting and going for a very long time on its own, perhaps endlessly) although I am not sure if the problem was in NINA or the focuser driver. I use automated focusers with other setups, so I'm sure my configuration wasn't it. That said it did work the last time I tried, so maybe something was amiss that is hopefully fixed now.

It's exactly what it says it is, and works like a charm. The installation was worth doing slowly and carefully. If you verify that the focuser is free from friction continuously as tightening, and that it is flat against the tube, the end result ill be smooth operation. Mine is a Celestron 8SE. I have the Version 4 hand controller - which does not control the focuser BUT am upgrading to the Nexstar+ controller. I was aware of the limitation so I have been focusing with my computer.

Installation wasn’t bad. Learned the set screw needs to be tightened more than I thought. If not the motor doesn’t grip and turn the focus shaft. Once I figured that out it worked great!

After reviewing the installations and watching a YouTube video, I fount it easy to install this motor on my C11-HD scope. I can see the potential for installing it incorrectly, but if your are careful this focus motor will work very well. I like the digital reference for the position of focus.

I had a lot of trouble with the installation of the focus motor. I was on the verge of returning the unit and I gave it one more try. The instructions are so-so. One of the problems was telling the user not to tighten the set screws too much. As it turns out, the set screw almost disappears in the hole before it extends out the other side. I still haven't calibrated it yet because I've seen so many posts on "why can't I calibrate this!". I understand the concept but it works without calibration so I'll use it without for a while. The package comes with installation instructions but nothing about actually using it motor! Now that it runs, it seems to be working as advertised. BETTER DOCUMENTATION PLEASE!

It’s a luxury that makes all the difference in the world! You’ll know what I mean when you get it, so go ahead! A bit pricey, but worth its weight in GOLD!

This is a quality device that mounts easily and solidly and integrates perfectly with all of Celestron's telescope control software. Once installed and calibrated you are able to precisely focus without any shaking of the image or view. You get much sharper images than you could possibly get with the manual control.

Hi,The Celestron focus motor is a fully digital positional focuser not a relative position device. Comes with an ASCOM driver and a simple program interface to use if not using program control. The focuser is exactly as described. All parts included, just tighten the screws. I supplied external 12V power and USB 2 cable to interface to my computer for control. The indicator light, located on the bottom of the unit, is a good addition to indicate things are working. The light is not bright and you need to look for it.Overall, a VERY good focuser. Does it's job very well at a very good price compared to others. Well built and looks like it should last for years. Driver install is simple and works well. I have tried the focuser with two standard astronomy software packages and it works with both. I have used it with automatic focusing routines and it performs as expected. Positioning is accurate.

Easy to install and works great as far as I can tell. Haven't tried to interface it with my astrophotography software but it looks like it has ascom drivers so I should be able to.

Works great on my 8" RASA, autofocus in NINA works perfectly with this focus motor. Fairly easy to install as well.
If you're an astronomy enthusiast or a professional astroimager seeking a reliable and user-friendly solution for precise focusing, the Focus Motor for SCT & EdgeHD telescopes is your ideal choice. This innovative product, designed by the reputable brand Celestron, offers electronic focusing for Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain (SCT) and EdgeHD telescope optical tubes.
With this high-quality focus motor installed, you can bring celestial objects into sharp, exact focus using your telescope's hand controller or a computer, eliminating the need to manually adjust the focuser knob. This feature is particularly beneficial for visual observers seeking precision, especially those with dexterity issues, and it's an indispensable accessory for astroimagers.
The motorized focuser allows astroimagers to focus an image without needing to be physically near the telescope. In combination with computerized control of the mount and camera, this durable focus motor empowers you to gather data remotely from a backyard observatory, or even a telescope located hundreds of miles away.
The focus motor is compatible with all SCTs from 6" to 14" in aperture produced since 2006, including the 8" Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA), the 36cm RASA, the 7" Maksutov-Cassegrain, and all EdgeHD optical tubes. It can also be used with the 11" RASA, with the Focuser Retrofit Kit for RASA 11.
For power options, you can use a Celestron computerized mount, a computer USB port, or an external 12V DC power source. Celestron provides a free Focuser Utility program for computer control, and the Celestron PWI software can also control the focus motor. For third-party focuser control software, an ASCOM driver is required.
In addition, the focus motor features a tethered design with port covers to protect the ports when not in use, ensuring durability and longevity. Please note, for 6" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, the Off-Axis Guider (#93648) cannot be used when the focus motor is installed due to mechanical interferences.
In summary, the Focus Motor for SCT & EdgeHD telescopes is a specialized, targeted solution that enhances your stargazing and astroimaging experience by providing precise, remote focusing capabilities.
