excellent

The camera and accessories are in mint condition and an amazing value for the price. I chose super saver shipping and still got my camera in two days. I ordered it in time for a trip to Iceland and am very satisfied with the results. Beautiful pictures and great camera for a beginner that still wants a little more than what small non-professional cameras have to offer. Thank you, Adorama, you are the best!

This camera is outstanding

I just love to take photo's of anything that I see that I like, I don't like luging a lot with me. This kit is great, the bag is good size more lenses, I know thats going to happen soon to. So all & all this is fantastic for me.

Good camera, easy to use

This is a good camera, and easy to use in automatic mode. My big problem is that it fell off the hotel bed and damaged the viewfinder. I hoped that digital cameras would be a little more rugged. The camera still takes good pictures even though looking through the viewfinder is blurry.

Wow, incredible deal!

When I got this camera, I was surprised that it looked absolutely brand new. Another thing that shocked me was that it had only had about 250 pictures taken with it before I got it. I saved $150 buying this instead of a brand new camera. I was not disappointed and will only buy refurbished Canon cameras from Adorama from now on.

Great Beginning!

If you're new or fairly new to DSLR's, this is a great way to begin. It is easy to use, easy to learn on, and is a camera you'd keep in your arsenal even as you become more knowledgeable. Meaning it's a camera you can grow with. And when you do want to move on up the Canon line, you're not at a learning curve. Their menu and layout is near the same as the XS, so you just pick up your next Canon right where you left off and keep on growing.

I hope I find another deal like this.

I am a freelance Videographer and producer. I wanted to offer senior class pictures at my studio. I use a Kodak Z18is for stills in my videos, but wanted to upgrade to a DSLR. The Kodak offers manual controls, and I have used a friend's Canon XTI, so I felt it was time to buy a DSLR. I couldn't believe the price on this XS. Then I noticed it was refurbished. I was very hesitant about buying it. With the reviews here, guarantee, and price I felt confidant about the purchase. [...] Like other reviews, I thought it was new. No, scratches, no marring, not even a smudge. The big selling point for me was the price and guarantee. Do your research to be sure this is the camera for you. I just wanted an inexpensive entry level camera. I shot over 500 pictures the first week I got it. Next purchase for video or photography I will check here first.

Great Starter Camera

I bought this camera as my first DSLR for my family pictures, etc and it's great! I have had it for about 3 months, and I use it weekly. It has been durable and reliable, and even my 5 year old has taken pictures with it. One downside has been the auto-focus, and I have missed a few shots because the lens kept rotating back and forth and couldn't decide how to focus. Otherwise this camera is an A+.

Great Buy

I am a newbie, but totally enjoy this camera. It is the next step up from a point and shoot. I was worried about looking like a nerd w/ a big old camera hanging from my neck. But the body is not that bulky and fits perfectly in my hand.

I love this camera

I love this camera! As someone who is just starting out, it is so very easy to use. I am bummed because i am used to seeing the picture in the LCD before i take the shot, but that isn't an option with most SLRs unless its the brand new fancy expensive models! Overall I am very pleased

I can tell this camera has a lot of potential. Also spending less than retail prices was a huge plus!

I am still learning a lot about photography and was looking for a camera with a faster shutter speed because my point and shoot just wasn't fast enough! It also had a harder time in lower lighting, like concerts. This camera is great for both of those and so far has been easy to navigate. I have much to learn but the manual is easy to read, and I can tell this camera has a lot of potential. Also spending less than retail prices was a huge plus! I would buy from here again.

Wonderful Camera

This is a great camera. High quality photos at a great price. Don't let the "refurbished" scare you. My camera came in perfect condition, original packaging, and there is no way to tell it was refurbished. I went back and forth about getting a refurb or paying $60 more for a brand new camera. I made the right choice, and have no regrets saving a little money. Highly recommend this camera, and Adorama.

Great price for a DSLR.

My wife finally decided to go from film to digital dslr. I found this refurbished XS and am really glad I ordered it for her. She loves it. I also got a refurbished 75-300mm lens. They both look and operate like brand new. I have purchased other refurbished items in the past and have not been disappointed. Adorama backs them with their own warranty that is just as good as new.

Excellent product and a great deal!

This was a great deal. I got the package with the spare battery and the case and a 2gig memory card for [$]. Just the camera was over $500 other places. Yes it's a referb. but I've bought other Canon products as referbs too. Not an issue for me.

FEATURED REVIEWS

Great Deal, Great Camera, A++ Quality!

By 88flaminchevy

Anytime you purchase something labeled as "refurbished", you start to wonder if you made the right decision. Let me put your mind at ease, what a great buy! To start, the camera showed up in a Canon white box, factory sealed. Once I opened the box, I noticed everything nicely wrapped and padded. After an hour of carefully inspecting every inch of the camera and lens, I honestly can't find a single nick, scratch, or blemish! The camera and accessories look immaculate! I popped the batter...

Excellent quality and warranty like new. I too wondered about purchasing someone elses problems but many positive reviews calmed my fears. If it wasn't for the refurbished stickers there would be no way for me to tell it was not brand new. After a couple of hundred shots i am well satisfied.

For perfect photos, fast and simple, there's nothing better than Canon's new EOS Rebel XS. With powerful features including a 10.1-megapixel CMOS Sensor, Canon's DIGIC III processor, fast shooting and more, it's a digital powerhouse. With simple, easy-to-use controls, a compact design, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor and Live View Function, it's a beginner's dream come true.

Canon's CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers the most pixels in its class. It offers many of the same new technologies first seen in Canon's professional EOS-1D Mark III to maximize each pixel's light gathering efficiency. It's an APS-C size sensor (22.2 x 14.8mm) and there's an effective 1.6x increase in the lens's marked focal length when attached. Canon's DIGIC III Image Processor dramatically enhances image quality and speeds up all camera operations for intuitive operation.

It works in concert with the EOS Rebel XS's sensor to achieve unprecedented levels of performance in all lighting situations. DIGIC III Image Processor is developed to maximize performance between the capture and recording stages of digital photography, the EOS Rebel XS's DIGIC III Image Processor works hand in hand with Canon's CMOS sensor to achieve even higher levels of performance. The entire electronic system is totally redesigned, giving the camera its incredible combination of speed and image quality. Digital noise is significantly reduced in shadow areas and color reproduction is superior.

Canon Eos Digital Rebel Xs 10.1 Megapixels Slr Black Camera Body Features

  • Outstanding Image Quality: 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor with DIGIC III Image Processor.
  • Auto Lighting Optimizer: The EOS Rebel XS's Auto Lighting Optimizer is yet another image-quality tool that comes to the rescue in tricky lighting conditions. It can actually lighten dark areas of a scene while ensuring that bright areas maintain tonal detail
  • Picture Style Settings: With the EOS Rebel XS's Picture Style technology, photographers can change the look of their digital photographs. Color, saturation, sharpness and contrast settings create noticeable variation in the saved image
  • High-speed, wide-area 7-point AF with center cross-type sensors:It features a high-speed, wide area 7-point AF system. It can focus using One-Shot AF mode, AI Focus AF, AI Servo AF and Manual. The center, cross-type focus point operates flawlessly in lower-light and lower-contrast settings
  • Excellent performance with 3.0 fps continuous shooting and burst rate up to 514 Large JPEGs (until memory card is full): With instant startup times, speedy autofocus and minimal shutter lag, the EOS Rebel XS is one of the fastest cameras available today
  • Large 2.5-inch LCD monitor with Live View Function: The EOS Rebel XS has a bright 2.5-inch TFT LCD monitor with 230,000 pixels and a viewing angle of 170°. It's perfect for Live View composition or viewing camera settings like AF, ISO, Metering, AF Point selection and flash options
  • Live View Function:Live View Function enables you to view your subjects directly on the 2.5-inch LCD monitor. It's easy to magnify any part of the scene 5x or 10x for precise manual focus. And now, there are two ways to use Autofocus along with Live View Function in the EOS Rebel XS
  • EOS Integrated Cleaning System: Photographers who must change lenses in dusty environments will find the advanced Canon EOS Integrated Cleaning System a tremendous time saver. Dust that settles on the sensor surface is removed using ultrasonic vibration
  • Self Cleaning Sensor Unit: A key element of minimizing dust is preventing it from clinging to the front surface of the imaging sensor. To combat against this, the EOS Rebel XS features a Canon-designed Self Cleaning Sensor Unit
  • Dust Delete Data Detection: Dust that may still remain on the front of the sensor can also be erased with software included in Digital Photo Professional (DPP) Version 3.3 or later software. A simple test shot of a plain, white object can be taken, using a menu setting
  • Canon's lightest and most compact EOS Digital SLR to date: Measuring 4.96" x 3.8" x 2.4" and weighing in at under 16 oz., the EOS Rebel XS is indeed the smallest digital Rebel ever produced
  • Compatible with compact SD and SDHC memory cards: Compact, inexpensive and available in increasingly large capacities, SD and SDHC memory cards are a perfect complement to the EOS Rebel XS's compact and lightweight body design
  • EF & EF-S Lenses: The EOS Rebel XS is compatible with all Canon lenses in the EF and EF-S lineup, ranging from ultra-wide angle to super telephoto lenses
  • Flash Photography: The EOS Rebel XS features the acclaimed E-TTL II flash metering system. With any of the flashes in the EX Speedlite line, E-TTL II provides reliable flash output whether shooting fill-in flash pictures in sunlight, or using flash in total darkness
