I love this printer! After five years of continuous heavy use, and only internal cleaning it was finally showing signs of age. I decided to clean the printhead myself, but I broke the holder reinstalling it (my bad). I am sure if I hadn't, it would be working great to the end of the decade and beyond. Luckily, I'd picked up a 2nd one three years ago in case my workload increased. I was a little nervous that sitting in the box that long might create some ink flow issues, but it worked flawlessly. So many concerns about Wi-Fi. I know the process can be daunting. However, if your router has a WPS button... use it! One push and you're connected. Beautiful, big format printing. 13x19! I do not consider it an ink hog at all. I've printed 100, 50 page booklets with mostly yellow and black and still had ink in those cartridges. Great internal maintenance options (rollers, ink flow, alignment). I will be picking up another one sometime this year.

I liked my old printer very much but like all things it finally decided not to work. I am impressed on how this new ip8720 looks and it operates just like my old ip8700 did. I am a very happy camper. I would and will recommend getting one to anyone who is interested in a fine printer.

It is an amazing printer for photos. I love the fact that it has a grey ink cartridge

This a good replacement for the Pro 100. It still prints CDs. It does away with the photo cyan and magenta cartridges. It doesn't seem to waste as much color ink when printing in black and white mode.

I met this dude behind the thrift dollar she showed me all these printers. He was selling out of the back of his 76 Oldsmobile. I didn't like any of them so then he opened up his trenchcoat and showed me the one I'm reviewing. I was in a pinch needed to Print some fast Cash. I tried hundreds 50s tens fives and singles. None of them worked so I busted out an old two dollar red note. Awards but no one thought it was an actual old-school two dollar bill. Disappointed I went back to the Thrift in dollar return the printer. The dude with the trash Had a very strict no returns policy. So Trade me some cheeseburgers.??

I've owned and used this printer daily for 6 years! I'm a photographer and use it often for Client prints. NO PROBLEMS - ever! It's a tank and prints lawlessly - all sizes. Luv it. To rebut complaints: Use only Canon ink. Connecting to anything Apple (Mac) is often glitchy.

Constant issues with printer not recognizing ink cartridges, printer no longer works carriage pins fell off with occasional use of the printer. Wastes tons of ink as it saturates the paper. Worst printer ever, waste of money.

We printed a photo of the German Alps on an 8.5X11 and thoughts there were black spots in the clouds. It turns out they were birds in detail under a loupe! Incredible detail. Years ago I developed and printed color film. This printer in incredible for the price. We have printed many 13X19 prints of our recent Europe trip, and hung them on the walls. People are amazed at the quality of the photos.

Wanted to replace my Epson 13"x19" printer after many years of great performance. Found the Canon iP8720, read the specs and reviews, and bought it about 3 months ago. Printer was easy to set up, easy to use. I've had zero issues with mine. Print quality has been fantastic! Great price point for a quality printer! Highly recommend!

Hot mess. Originally connected the 8720 to an ancient iMac- hard enough to set up (wirelessly), but at least it printed. Upgraded to a Mac Studio M2 Max (Sonoma 14.4) a month ago and this printer will not connect. At all. Bought this printer a bit over a year ago and this thing's off to the trash. Expensive piece of e-junk. Unsatisfied with the prints I did manage to get from the iMac (NOT Canon's fault- so old, I couldn't update to the appropriate printer drivers). Read/watched reviews before purchase and this seemed the right choice even though in 2023 it was a printer already long in the tooth. As alluded, the Township is having an electronics trash day coming up and I can't wait to heave this into a dumpster and watch it satisfyingly shatter against the wall (yeh, with an all new set of cartridges). Have wasted SO MUCH TIME trying to set this up. Hate. Hate Epson, but if it connects- that's way more than this ever managed on the Mac Studio.

Highest resolution Canon printer in its price range. My Canon MP970 print heads finally died, and this was the only current model comparable. . This one prints beautifully, from desktop, wirelessly from laptop, and from iPhone. But iPhone set up took me a couple of days to figure out. Download drivers from the Canon website. Then download Canon app to connect with iPhone. I have a Canon Pro-10 and I can barely tell the difference in prints between the two. I saved the MP970 for its equally high resolution scanner. Wish Canon would combine the high res printer/scanner at this price point.

I work designing manuals, language course discs for my job, and also do photography work with a second duplicate printer at home. I am very please with the qquality, wonderful software, and how great old epson ec4 images can be copied and setup for printing and saving all my artwork for my Canon printers at work and home. I also make some native american indian languages now almost impossible to find and print manuals to help people learn these great american languages. I am pproud to use these machines to creat wonderful looking cd's & dvd's that collectors cherish. I have been using each printer for different jobs at home and work and also finishing up work started at home and finished in my office at the company. My boss is proud of the work I create and is also very pleased compared to the same files printer on the epson printers this Canon is replacing and the quality much better making the same prints. The Canon outshines the epson definitely and I use it in quiet mode as I am not in any hurry to print. I have done cd, dvd, with special modes, plain paper to photo glossy and the Canon at both locations are incredibly good which is amazing to me with all my experience in printing. I prepared a very old digital scan of a 1954 Gulf Station owned by an uncle I had taken as a child and printed it on glossy photo paper in black & white. The man I presented it to could not believe it was done on an ink jet printer. It had the look and feel of a 4" negative emlarge to 8 x 10 from a pro camera store enlargement. He was shocked to know it came from photoshop to ahis printer. I was extremely impressed and know the next printer I purchase will be DEFINITELY a Canon. This machine is very good quality and the inks are wonderful for what I need. I have many images from vacations in various places in China and have already reprinted them as I have time and am very impressed with this printer produces. For sure one day I will but even a better Canon printer. But to see what these 2 machines can do is a sight to be seen for sure. The specs are very good but the eye is the real test and this machine covers anything I throw at it for sure. The proof is in the print for sure. Ray C. in Florida ' s that video collectors cherish.

The reviews are correct about having a very difficult time connecting to WiFi. It took hours to connect and then twice in 2 months it lost connection so I had to reinstall.....I have the fastest residential and strongest signal. It is a CANON fault software/hardware issue!! There are NO ICC PROFILES for different paper. Some forums claim to have found some but I cannot find any for Canon paper. You are thinking why would I need this or what is it.......it's technical so search YouTube. BUT if you use a photo editing program and want to make extreme adjustments to correct badly exposed photos you WILL need ICC PROFILES for specific paper otherwise you will get small white lines "banding" HOWEVER, print quality is outstanding, sharp and colorful if you don't make many editing adjustments. Third party inks work very well at an 1/8th of the price of CANON ink.

This is my second time buying this printer. Big prints at a reasonable price. The first one lasted 6 years of weekly printing.

I've read a lot of bad reviews of this printer. The biggest complaint seems to be wifi printing. I must admit, I can't get that to work correctly. But, I don't care. The quality of the prints that come out of this machine is so good for the price point, I can look past the WiFi issues. I bought this machine a number of years ago and didn't print to it for over a year. I started it back up and amazingly, the prints that came out of it had no issues. I highly recommend purchasing the Canon-branded photo paper (my favorite is Luster). Again, the print quality is top-notch. For the time being, this printer is working great. When it's time to replace it, I will absolutely look at what Canon has to offer for inkjet photo printers. Again, the quality is amazing to me. And if the photos are stored correctly and you are using the Chroma inks and not knockoff cheap inks, the photos could last 300 years! I'm very happy with this printer.

I bought this thinking this would scan. But can?t find any information now, and is there any way to find compatible scanners? I?m trying to scan canvas to make prints. Help line was not helpful. The prints are great I just can?t get what I actually wanted prints of.

This printer is a mess. From bleeding ink everywhere to never connecting to wireless. A huge waste of time money and energy. All canon support has been useless. The feeding tray only works 1 out of every 20 attempt to even print.

We use these printers at the office. It's been over 4 years at least. No problems, easy to use, prints on DVD surfaces with good client presentation quality. Large format is also good. Wifi for some of these pixma is a hassle, so we just wired it to the network. But we need solid color printers and this pixma fits the bill. The more functionality you add, the more chances that something will go wrong, so keep it simple if you have time-sensitive work. What is wrong with the canon review form? It works badly on DuckDuckGo.

No icc profiles, Colors arent even close to what's on monitor. You will waste a ton of paper trying to match colors. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER, IT'S USELESS.

Great quality prints. Eats ink fast but it?s worth it. The software is absolutely terrible for who this printer is made for. The software is so basic and limited that it?s frustrating, I?d thought canon would have something better to pair with such a great machine. The software has the functionality but it?s pretty poorly set up and not at all intuitive. This is a pro-sumer level printer and as such should have something more powerful print handling.

I've now had this printer for about two months, and am pleased with it so far. I did not have the problems others reported in setting it up with my Apple desktop. I get very good enlargements to 13x19 and use the printer along with another smaller Pixma MG6320 for different kinds of jobs. In my experience, problems with these machines often don't turn up for some time - and after one has written a review! One problem I do anticipate is running out of ink often and having to pay an exorbit...

Bought this as a replacement for an older Canon that started leaking black ink. It was time to go. I wanted a good photo-quality printer first. I also do everyday printing (emails, articles, etc.). This thing does not disappoint. The photos are beautiful. I have one picture of my grandchildren in the ocean. They are wearing bright orange shirts/trunks. It's beautiful. No running between the orange and the aqua and the white. Very crisp all around in what I would think would be a hard photo ...
