I purchased this a few months ago after my 24-105mm L fell off a high table and was destroyed. I have fallen in love with this lens, so much lighter and I cannot see a difference in images from my last lens. It is not weather sealed or as rugged in build but for a hobbiest I could not be happier and ease of carry is important.

Because of my age I needed to reduce the weight of my kit. I had a 24-70mm f/2.8L which took wonderful pictures but was HEAVY. I needed IS and light weight. This lens has not disappointed. If you are not a paporazzi photographer or shoot in the rain this lens is everything you need. Don't worry that it does not have a red ring. Just a note: I also downsized from a 1-Ds Mk III to a 6D Mk II.

I use this lens for a Canon Ti camera (yes a film camera. Even though it's not an " L " series lens I use this set up for black and white pro film. This allows me to either push or pull the exposure 1 to 2 stops either way so that I get the desired effect when printing.

I believe this is going to be all that I intended for it to be. Like the size and will be a good walk around for full frame 6D. Bundle was ok, but would have liked a case or at least a pouch...wrap is sort of useless for day to day use; maybe to wrap up for travel.

This lens is entirely underrated in my opinion. Anyone who has focusing issues with it probably hasn't adjusted their camera's AF properly for what they are shooting. I personally love to use this lens. My only quibble is that I wish the aperture went a bit lower. Other than that, it's an amazing lens. Kit lenses so often get such bad wraps and sometimes, it's for no good reason. Don't shy away from this one.

The first copy of this lens had issues with auto-focus, and I returned it. Then I got another copy from Amazon and it works PERFECT. This is definitely not a L lens, but it's perfect for video shooters, because 1 it has STM 2) it has IS. Enough said. When I need to make high quality stills, I use my 35 mm f/2 or 24 mm f/2.8 or 70-200 f/4. BTW, I shoot with a full frame Canon 6D Mark 2.

I have had this for about a month and have just started trying to use it a little. I purchased this new and am now seeing it will not stay in focus. After two or three seconds true to refocus on an unmoving subject in good light. Not a good buy. Very disappointing.

I have been using this lens foe only a couple of weeks but find it to be a really good lens - especially for the price. The AF is fast and whisper quiet. I am extremely satisfied with the results in my photos. The only complaint I have (and the reason for only 4 stars is the location of the lock. it is very close to the grip and difficult to reach on a full size sensor camera. I am a fairly small woman and have trouble getting my fingers on the lock. I think it would be quite difficult for a larger person. Other than that very minor detail I highly recommend this lens!

I bought this lens to go with my Mark IV to shoot video. Specifically chose it because of its silent focus motor. If your shooting video....this lens works great as an all around lens. Gives you a slight wide angle effect (without being silly) and gives you a good zoom lens all in one.

I purchased this lens for my Canon 70D. It is a winner. In the time I have had this lense, the pictures I have taken are sharp, and the colors are amazing. I can see this lense being on the camera most of the time.

This lens produces great images and is lighter (and less expensive than its sibling L version. It was for those reasons I got it. I do wish I had waited and bought the L version though, for the constant aperture and weather resistance.

Longer wider lenses seldom produce salable results at both ends. I teach professional photographers how to shoot volume school-days. The 24-105 covers the required range with good sharpness and excellent contrast.

I bought this lens for a trip to DC and NYC, and it was exactly what I needed. I was able to take shots of my kids standing next to the monuments and didn't lose any landscape. It doesn't capture the light as much as I'd like, but you get what you pay for in this area. I usually shoot with a Canon 2.8 70-200mm, and it is incredible, but it isn't fair to compare this lens to the 2.8. This is a great lens to own!

This Lens is totally unfit to use it for Canon C100 as its so hopeless for MOVIE making. This MAY be a good lens for PHOTOGRAPHY but definitely NOT for VIDEO. I really wanted to return this item BUT NOT sure Adorama will accept it as its almost a month now.

I am very satisfied with the Canon EF 24-105mm IS STM. The photos are sharp and the colors are rich. Canon quality aside, I was very pleased with the prompt service and great pricing that I got from Adorama. This was my first purchase from Adorama and since I have purchased a Canon 100-400 zoom. The second order was handled in the same prompt and efficient manner. Thank you folks at Adorama!

just got this lens a week ago havnt got too put it thru its paces yet but STM lens are sharp and fast at still and video focus, also they can be used for sports dont let lenses with F2.8 or faster fool u into spending hella $$$ on those lens STM is the future wait till the 5D4 gets stm and it will be a deadly camera also 25% lighter then L lenses Cons: Not weather sealed or built as well as the L Lenses but there very durable just take care of your stuff

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Standard Zoom Lens is the first Canon EF standard zoom lens for full-frame sensor cameras to include a lead screw-type stepping motor (STM) for smooth and quiet AF and tracking while shooting movies or still images. It offers top-notch image quality thanks to two aspheric lenses and a UD lens for sharpness and clarity, optimized lens placement and advanced coatings that reduce ghosting and flare while delivering remarkable color balance; and a 7-blade circular aperture diaphragm that creates gorgeous, soft backgrounds.
The lens is compact, has an advanced image stabilization system for up to four stops of compensation and offers full time manual focus. With full-frame compatibility, outstanding STM AF performance and covering a popular zoom range, the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is an excellent choice. The focusing mechanism employs an inner focus lens, a stepping motor and lead screw to support the Canon EOS Movie Servo AF function and provide smooth and quiet continuous AF during video recording, as well as when shooting photos.
