My 10 year-old MacBook Pro is smoother and easier (and far less junky) than this new one. Yes, lots of new features and abilities, but not at the expense of a cursor, for example, that jumps erratically instead of glides smoothly.

I would recommend. Get 16GB at a minimum. Full disclosure, I am replacing a 10 year old Macbook Pro. For my demands, this is the perfrect sweet spot of cost vs. performance.

It's a Mac. What could be bad? But, I have to say, that I'm not a big fan of the new style of trackpad with multi touch gestures; instructions like " click, and then press deeper to force click text and reveal options" is a pretty clear sign to me that this is not a feature that I am going to enjoy learning to use. Used to be that Steve Jobs wouldn't even allow her right, click on a mouse, and now you have to choreograph your fingers instead of doing right click.
