Long lasting and reliable

I used the Canon and I've used off brands. The Canon fits better in the camera, and outlasts the off brands I've used. I have encountered good performing off-brand, but had to replace their latching mount with the latching mounts form old Canon batteries that came with my camera. The off brand ones would get loose and fail to make contact. Very bad when shooting sports for the local paper, or a wedding. Now I only buy Canon and consider the higher price as insurance.

The knock-offs don't last!

original Canon batteries can't go wrong and worth the price! The knock-offs don't last!

Good Battery

I bought this battery about three weeks ago. Is an excellent battery. It holds its charge. No problem at all. Buy from Canon when it comes to batteries.

Great battery life!

My previous battery was old (about a decade!) and was no longer lasting more than a few shots. I was debating whether to go with this battery or an off-brand. Despite the cost difference, I went with the Canon battery and my battery life is great! I don't know how many shots I can get out of it because I have been able to shoot an entire day without having to recharge it.

OEM

I've never tried third party batteries for my 1Ds Mark II, so I can't comment on how this battery compares. However, this is the fourth NP-E3 I've owned. My first three (used on rotation) lasted me almost 7 years. They still work, but they will only hold a charge for a hundred or so shots. When new, these batteries will last for days of constant shooting without needing to be recharged. They're awesome.

Buy the best

I have tried the off brands and found the hit and miss to be irritating. Get the original Canon brand and quit wondering if you got a good one. I know it is way more costly but when you consider you might have to buy several off brands to get a good one, the price isn't too bad! Plus the Canon fits. Another thing I had issues with the off brands.

Excellent battery

My original battery would not hold a charge anymore. This brand new Canon battery brought new life into my 1d Mark IIn. As usual, the Adorama service and shipping was superb.

Great Battery

It was the purchase of three of the same type of batteries. Once charged, they are reliable, long lasting and great to use. I buy the Canon batteries rather than the "one off" batteries as they last longer, and are much more reliable.

Canon NP-E3 battery

I had bought some "after-market" brands for a lot less money. In the end they did not perform like a genuine canon battery. If you work depends on reliability for a given charge don't hesitate to spend the extra $. After-market stuff lasted for under a 100 shots...

You can't go wrong with OEM

I am a Military member who travels the world quite frequently. I have a 1D, 1Ds, and a 1D mark 11. There is nothing more frustrating then being half way up the eastern Himalayas and after 50 or so shots the cheap $49 batteries go dead. I can rely on the Canon brand to give a solid 500 in 1Ds and 1200 in my mark 11.

Stay with Canon

I keep three batteries and I shoot out of doors almost exclusively. I don't bother counting how many images I get, but probably 400 or so. Two batteries is not enough because I am traveling and don't always want to start the generator up to re-charge them, some camps have quiet hours and I'm out shooting 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. anyway. I have tried other brands and had them fall apart where the cover attaches to the battery. If you throw these in a bag that can be a vulnerable spot. If you're shooting in the cold, then change batteries put one in your shirt to warm up, before they die, and they will self recover and allow more shooting.

Buy OEM Batteries

Used for Canon EOS 1Ds. I read enough reviews of aftermarked batteries to sway my purchase. I have the EOS 1Ds Mark III, which has smaller batteries, so that explains my bulky comment. I will always use Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) batteries to preclude failures at inconvenient times.

Excellent product

This is the ultimate battery. Seems incredibly to shoot 1200 pictures on a single charge. Even when it is not light weight, is very balanced in the mark II body. I've never used the generic version but I read other reviews saying quality is not comparable. If you can afford this one, it'll be cheaper in the long term.

Worth the money

Previously purchased off-brand replacement battery. Poor quality - locking mechanism flimsy and doesn't secure. Charging capacity decreased rapidly over time. Well worth it to buy Canon backup/replacement battery

Long lasting battery

Got this as a backup battery. Gone through 3 recondition cycles to maximize the battery life. I have taken over 1000 shots with my first battery and the indicator still shows full charge, so haven't needed to use the second battery yet. That show the battery life is good.

The Only Battery To Use

This is the best battery to use for the Canon 1D MK-2 camera. Don't take a chance, read the reviews of non-canon OEM batteries. You get what you pay for.

duff batteries

Spare batteries are an essential piece of kit and they must be reliable, especially given the weight and size of these. [...]. It simply didn't connect properly. I ordered a Canon OEM but was sent a recycled battery that didn't even fit my IDs Mk11. the moral is don't buy cheap, get an original, and don't get palmed off with a reprocessed battery.

This OEM battery is the way to go

I own a 1D (original), a 1DMkII and a 1DsMk2 and have 2 of these Canon batteries along with 8 other aftermarket batteries Both of my OEM Canon batteries are from 2003, and all 8 of my aftermarlet batteries are from March 2007 ... I thought I was getting a good deal for the money [$]but now I know why they are so cheapI ordered 8 of the aftermarket batteries all at the same time, and out of the 8, 2 of them were completely dead and would not charge right out of the box ... it wasn't any problem getting them replaced, and they immediately sent me 2 new ones ... but now after 2 months of moderate use, another one of the aftermarket batteries has died and will not fully charge (when fully charged, that one will last for maybe 20 photos - and sometimes it won't charge at all) - [...]- but it's hard for me to trust those batteries, even when they are brand newAll the time this has been happening, I've been using my OEM Canon batteries just as much as the others, and I've never once had even the slightest trouble with them, they are over 4 years old and still function perfectlyWithout any doubt, the original Canon OEM brand NP-E3 batteries ALWAYS outperform the aftermarket units, regardless of how much more powerful they claim to be I can rely on my Canon batteries that are over 4 years old to keep me running every time, and last much longer - while the other brands sometimes don’t charge all the way, or don’t last nearly as long With my 1DsMk2, I get 800-1100 photos with the Canon brand battery, and maybe 200-900 with the aftermarket battery depending on how I'm using the camera ... battery performance is much less when using an original 1D or 1Ds camera compared to the markII's because the sensors and electronics in the Mark I's use a lot more powerThe aftermarket batteries do have some purpose, and can be good for a cheap emergency spare battery, but they are certainly not suitable for your primary, or even secondary battery - especially if you aren't near your charger, or if you don't have several back up batteries with youAnother reason to buy this Canon brand NP-E3 - the OEM Canon battery fits and locks into my 1D bodies with a tight fit, and I feel confident that the weather sealing is intact when I use the Canon batteries – the aftermarket batteries are sometimes loose, or very hard to get locked into the camera - if you think your camera might get wet, make sure you have an original NP-E3 loaded, and not a generic batteryYou will be better off buying one of these OEM Canon brand batteries than 2 of the aftermarket batteries for around the same final costThis is the battery to buy when you absolutely need your 1D series camera to work every time you hit the shitter button

The only game in town...

This battery is the only one to use on the Canon EOS 1 Series bodies. Battery life in the Mark II version bodies is much better than the original "Mark I" bodies so you may not need as many.
