Purchase of The Bose Sound Bar for my TV.

I was very disappointed the Bose sound bar. The reason for ordering it was to be able to turn the volume up louder than my TV. As it is a Bose ,it had very good reviews. But as it turned out ,it is no louder than my TV. I am very upset.

F- in regards to shipping. The Bose packaging came bare without any protective boxing. This was a gift but that option was quickly truncated after looking at the scratched, damaged, and battered original Bose box. Sincerely disappointed.

Love the sound bar but HORRIBLE packaging!

Great sound

While we have a newer 4K tv, the sound, especially on certain streaming services was lacking. This sound bar is very easy to use and provides excellent sound quality. It’s now easier to understand dialog and we don’t have to keep it all the way up to hear.

Perfect fit

Been using bose products for 2 decades, this replaced our agung 3-2-1 from the DVD era; solid and works well with my Samsung phone's bluetooth.

Very disappointed

5 years ago, I purchased a Refurbished Bose Solo, it lasted 1 year. Frustrated, I upgrated to the more recent version and paid $200 for the new one. This one did a bit better and lasted 4 years. It isn't turning on now. I am very disappointed. Here I thought Bose were quality products. I have a very cheep Samsung that is still working after 10 years.

Remote is sooo complicated

I bought this , loving most bose products. Now I don’t use it. It’s my last bose product. 60 odd buttons on remote. It has a mind of its own. Sounds do noy sync with tv.

Great sound!

I bought a reconditioned one from the Bose outlet here in Southern California. I can't believe the sound and the bass in particular. It's in my bedroom. Way better than the Samsung sound bar and sub in my living room. I'm going to buy one for the living room now. How could anyone give this a bad review seriously. Was playing songs from my iPhone too and the sound was impeccable! Great highs too. Thanks to the people at the Bose store.

Solo 5 TV, a must for DESK TOP COMPUTER SPEAKER

I bought Solo 5 for my TV and was satisfied, then heard about the Bose TV Speaker, bought it, much better for TV. Same kick, but is better designed for "talk", and expandable for more Base modules. Both very affordable! So I decided to put this Solo 5 on my desktop computer with the S/PDIF optical out, had to buy a sound card that supported optic out. AWESOME...UNBELIEVABLE I am a SiriusXM subscriber, I could not find a music situation I did not like..... Period! If you are a Hard Base thump-er, don't bother. Go with Bose TV Speaker because it's expandable. But if you like almost anything else, for the price, give it a shot. I'm 59 years old, I love music! As of this post, I'm listening to Queen on channel 27. Not a bad test in it's self.... I'm all over the board. Good Luck, Thank you Bose, for letting me afford it. MeTim UNBELIEVABLE sound for music. Now having both, the Sole 5 is

Good speaker, but not the usual Bose quality.

I bought this for my RV. Couldn't hear the TV speakers over the rooftop A/C and thought this would solve the problem. It sounds okay and works better than the TV, but there is still some distortion during louder moments in shows and movies. Overall average sound and not worth the price. Also, would it have killed them to put a power button on it, and maybe a few more? Having to use the fussy and complicated remote to do anything with it is annoying.

"Disposable" Was good until it broke

This is a good bedroom speaker or a cheap upgrade for a small den or living room, but it will eventually break. One night while watching TV, the speaker just shut off. Tried everything and it won't turn back on. Apparently it's a common issue that happens to this speaker. We had it for about 3 years and hoped it'd last longer. They want $99 to repair, or you can buy the refurbished ones from the outlet for the same price.

Disapointed, annoyed.

Had this for about 4 months now. I'm disapointed with the overall quality of sound and annoyed by the difficulty to use. First, it's hard to tell that the sound is better than that in my TV. Then dialogue mode is very disappointing. It makes little difference. Then there is volume control. I can't seem to get any remote to control the volume on this thing other than the bose remote. So I need to have the TV remote for streaming services, the DVR remote for satellite, and the bose remote to control volume. I would rather just adjust the volume on my TV and have it transmit to my soundbar that adjustment, sadly, I can't make that work. And when I do adjust the volume, there is no visual indicator of volume level so time consuming fine tuning by ear is required. Yes, I talked to Bose about this, and their solutions did little to help. If this had ARC, the problem may be solved. Overall, this is more of a hassle than it's worth.

Happy but Disappointed

I was very excited to get a Bose speaker that I could afford always have wanted one although I had one as a teenager 200 years ago lol. The sound and look of this product is very good and it works with the television very well My disappointment was with the wonderful universal remote, and customer service. I called to get some help with getting the remote control to connect to the television a new one. Should be no problem but it was. I called, had an appointment with a new employee and old employee, probably her boss /manager. They were both very nice. When they could not help me, approximately a half an hour later, I was left with was the feeling of "oh well, I guess it doesn't work sorry....?I'm sure this universal is quite expensive. It's very heavy and I'm sure it works very very well. It should have worked very well on my television. Oddly enough it ended up turning on the TV with the DVD player code and the DVD player code didn't turn on the DVD player but it turned on the TV I can do that now, just not any of the other buttons. Just off and on. I like the product has a good sound Don't really want another one I just wanted the universal remote to work with it. Signed happy and disappointed

Nice for bedroom

We bought this for our master bedroom. It is just the soundbar and its small. It was quick and easy to hook up and mount - probably 15 min total. The sound is sharp and the BASS is nice. I’m not sure this would be the product for a large living room or family room, you’d likely need a larger bar and subwoofer. But it is perfect for our master bedroom.

Big disappointment

I bought the Bose soundbar 5 and was initially pleased with product. After 1 week the optical cable stopped working and I decided to use the blutooth fuction. Now I have problems with the volume. I cant raise it and it remains on low. It was a complete waste of money. I thought buying Bose would be better quality but next time I will just buy a Vizio.

Horrible

Bought it expecting it to be decently loud. It’s a Bose, right?! My tv is louder than this sound bar. The only decent thing is the tiny bit of bass boost. Not worth the money I paid

Big Sound Little Footprint

Simtple to install and the sound is incredible. Takes up very little space. Did not expect such big sound from such a small sound bar. Highly recommend at $199. It’s a great value for the money.

Great Product. Better sound than my TV

I bought this product focused on sound enhancement for my living room. I don't have a big living room, but the Bose Solo 5 TV has enhanced the sound exactly how I was looking for. Great bass, quality treble and amazing sound when you're watching movies in 4K. It is specially great to have the remote control operating your TV and Bose Solo 5, however as I have a Samsung TV I can't use all the features hence sometimes I have to use the original Samsung remote control. This is a minor concern but in overall, the product is really good.

Makes A Great Small HiFi Stereo

This sound bar packs a lot of sound in a small package. Of course it works well as a TV speaker, but it also works well as a small stand alone HiFi stereo.

Not quite up to par.

I bought this to go with my new TV so I could work in my kitchen and hear the TV better as well as being able to watch it in the living room. It's simply not very loud - not much louder than the actual TV on its own. Disappointed, to be honest, and it was not cheap either.

Probably returning it

First TV I tried didn't have the optical hookup so I tried a second TV. No Sound, but it disabled the sound on the TV(I had to reset TV to orig settings). I tried it on a 3rd TV and while the sound works, I could never get the Bose remote to control any TV (the tv light stays on). I was able to get the cable box to work. Just not a fan of how user friendly it is not. Blue tooth worked fine, but I don't need another Blue tooth speaker. I never tried the alternate connection method because they don't include the cable and if I have to go back out, I might as well return it and buy something that will connect to my TV more readily.

Remote sucks!

The sound from this unit is awesome. The only complaint I have is that the remote is impossible to program. Following the instructions and using the codes provided does nothing. I have a Sharp TV. Using the code for Sharp did not work. Even tried Hisense. Being as they own sharp. Still nothing. You can program the remote to turn on the TV and the sound bar at the same time. But the button need to be pressed longer to turn on the Bose. So it you press the button too quickly only the TV comes on. If you press it again the Bose comes on and the TV goes off. Then you have a see-saw effect where one is on and the other is off.

Not great, but better than TV speakers

I was initially exited as I have other Bose products. The Good: Small, fits in tight spaces, good for a small space like a den, or 10x10 bedroom. The Bad: Poor image, dialog is hard to understand clearly, priced high compared to others, and practically zero Bass. I replaced with a Sonos Beam which was more expensive, but you can get a Vizio, or Yamaha for less money what will be a better overall value for you

It Put and End To Our Volume Arguments

By jlanham

We love our big screen HD Smart TV mounted on the wall but have never been happy with all the sound blasting out of the back of the TV. It would bounce off the wall and deafen anyone in the kitchen, but where my wife would sit in the living room she couldn't hear the voices unless it was sky high, and it would blast me out of the room. If your looking for a theater surround sound, look further. But if your looking for a very high quality compact soundbar with excellent sound at a very reasona...

Provides detailed sound with more than enough bass for a medium sized bedroom. Excels with the dramatic effects of an action film and the subtle nuances of far away lands in travel documentaries. A huge well done to Bose For achieving this in a small sound bar!
