I purchased an"identical" replacement battery from another manufacturer. The capacity is about 1/4 of my original 10 year old Canon battery. Don't waste your money on off brands, buy Canon. Canon is quality.

Several years ago I bought a few Cannon LP-E5's and a few off-brand batteries. The knock-offs have all since ruptured and died but the real deal are still holding a full charge. Spend the money; buy the real thing.

Canon batteries are some of the best batteries on the market. they are reliable and dependable, I own many Canon products and use the manufactures products when possible. With so much to worry about on a shoot the last thing I need is a battery failure. If it's a Canon product then it's Canon replacement parts all the way.

Always, always, always have an extra fully charge battery with you. The most depressing moment in photography is to have that once in a lifetime shot and your battery goes dead! Learn from my experience :-) People say it is pricey. You get what you pay for. I have learned over the years to stick with manufacturers products. Reason why third party products are cheap is because they are cheap!

Gets a great amount of clicks (1500+) when shooting JPEG on my 450D but when shooting in raw it gets about 900. Great battery and if I lost it or if it was stolen I would definitely buy another which I did.

I plan to travel abroad and electricity is at a premium. I want to have a spare battery in case I cannot recharge first battery at my convenience.

This battery is the exact same battery that comes with your camera. It is wonderful to have this as a back-up, as I never have to worry about losing juice, since I always have a battery fully charged!

You must use a canon battery with a canon camera to get it to fit correctly. It fits and works like the original equipment. The only draw back is the price if using it for a back-up

This battery was purchased as a backup for my new Canon Eos T1i Digital SLR. I use the camera both for personal photo taking as well as for my business (in order to document meeting activities, take photos of products that we sell in addition for training purposes). As said in my earlier rating the battery is very expensive when compared to other batteries that are out there for other cameras that have equal or greater capacity but it does perform well.

I got this one as a back up battery to my other one. It lasts a long time. When it is not in use, I just keep it in the battery charger, because the plug in things fold down. This makes it easy to carry. It really charges quickly, I love that.

This battery is a perfect fit and stays charged for hundreds of photos. It is a little expensive, but you don't have to worry about it getting stuck in the camera.

Although a little pricey, you can't beat the durability (and resulting confidence) of the LP-E5 battery pack. I do not use the live view function on my Xsi which certainly helps to conserve power; however, even with that, a charge last much longer than I expected. Doesn't hurt to have one as a spare for trips, or if you will be using the camera's built-in flash for a lot of shots.

Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera
A powerful, OEM battery for the XSi
By KenHecker
This genuine Canon rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery (see attached photo) is essential. I wouldn't trust off-brands to replace it, when I'll be out in the countryside, or seeing the sights of Great Britain this Spring. From what I've seen so far, even with occasional flash photos, this battery will last a long time on one charge. Being a smart battery, it communicates with the camera, so you can have a good estimate of the remaining charge. I purchased two extra batteries so that I could k...

The EOS Rebel XS, XSi and T1i digital cameras utilizes Canon's high-capacity LP-E5 lithium ion battery pack, which provides 50% more exposures per charge than earlier models with virtually no increase in size or weight.
