Runs absolutely quiet. I added a small 120mm fan on top with a speed controller (PWM fans) and it took the lukewarm metal top to a cool top. Internal fan never kicked in anyways but I figured what the heck, take it an extra step. The relay sometimes can be heard clicking once when it switches formats but not too often. Dirac was easy to setup and my Jamo speakers sound way better with it and not veiled. The dialogue and subwoofer buttons on the remote are exceptionally convenient compared to Onkyo or even the barebones Denon remotes because you don't have to use an onscreen display to change them. It's super quick. The dialogue setting 0 to 5, spreads center channel to left and right, which is great, but it seems to reduce the bass for some reason. Perhaps a symptom of center spread essentially being a speaker virtualization? Anyways, I just turn up the subwoofer via the remote to counter. Also, the remote has amazing IR range. You can literally be pointing it completely away from the receiver and button presses still register . Lastly, I am using a 5.1 setup and it has more than enough power for my speakers, but if you are thinking about using many speakers, I would recommend the VSX-LX505 instead that has gone on sale here for $630 new.

Purchased from Adorama. Arrived less than 1wk as stated and finally installed the following weekend. No problem with setting up. Lots of features vs my old Onkyo unit. Haven't tried the Dirac yet, just the standard speaker configuration with the included microphone.

I purchased this Pioneer VSX-LX305 to replace a 10-yr-old Pioneer Receiver. This is for our Great Room with an open floor concept. I have a 7.1 speaker setup with 6 in-wall Infinity speakers, Infinity 351 center channel, and sub. I also have a single in-ceiling stereo speaker in the garage for Zone 2. This receiver powers all of it like a champ. The old receiver was working fine but a little dated. For the price offered by Adorama right at Christmas it pushed me over the edge to purchase this even though I wasn't in the market. I like the latest technologies including Dolby Atmos, Dirac calibration and 8K ready for a bit of future-proofing. The app works very well to stream audio to the garage while I am working out there. I'm glad I purchased and am enjoying the features of this receiver. I also have the Pioneer VSX-LX505 in my theater room with 7.1.4 system, and the LX305 is very similar just lacking a few features but perfect for my Great Room.

upgrading from a Denon AVR-X3500h to the Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 has been a good experience. Have not had a Pioneer receiver since 2000 but this was a good choice. The LX305 can handle 4K/120 Hz passthrough, the device input change works much better than it did on the Denon even if there is a slight delay sometimes, and the ability to use extra Atmos or back surround speakers is a nice plus with the LX305 being a 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 receiver. I watch mostly movies and streaming shows and the sound quality is as good as any Onkyo and Denon receivers I have had in the past. The auto-calibrate setup is easy and standard practice with all the AVRs I have owned over the last 2 decades. However, I have not been able to get Dirac setup to work properly yet. You have to use your cellphone to do it and the app gets an error during the setup. Overall, a worthy investment that I can see lasting for at least 6+ years with timely firmware updates.

Had it about a month. Not an expert in this area, but so far everything works well. HDMI CEC is flawless and switches quickly which was one of my big concerns. Doesn't run hot, no fan noise. No delays in audio start after pausing or starting new content. Things I wish were different: Death to blue LED's. The product has a wonderful amber color for the screen. Just use the same color for the LED. More customizability, particularly when it comes to volume control. Let me choose what increment volume up or down does. 0.5 db increments are very slow and annoying especially when changing between content that has 20-30+ differences in base level.
