Awesome, affordable, power at your fingertips

Lightweight and portable but powerful at a fraction of the cost of other off-camera flash or strobes. The honey badger series is awesome. I picked this one up as an extra, mainly for the modeling light as the modeling light draws quite a bit of power and I don’t want to drain the batteries on my honey badger unleashed. I picked up extra batteries for my unleashed series but have yet to use them even after shooting for several hours.

Killer strobes that go on sale often

Got one on sale and it didn't disappoint, bought another one when another sale happened. Tempted to get a third. Wish that it went lower than 4 but hey that's what modifies are for. The tilt mechanism needs some give to move and isn't smooth but once it's tightened it holds up (literally and figuratively).

Nice Kit

Very affordable and easy to use. My only criticism is that I wish the power could be dialed down further than allowed. It would be nice to be able to use a single head as a fill, balanced with available light for interior portraits. Not a deal breaker by any means but something to consider if you purchase this kit.

Honey Badger is great, If you get one that is not damaged.

I have ordered 3 of these units in total. First time I ordered two units without the stands. When I received them, on one ot them the glass dome was cracked so I had to send it back to be replaced. I just recently ordered another one. I set it up as the main light. Using a light meter to check the output, it fired once and would not recycle to fire again. the internal fan kept running. So now I was back down to a 2-light setup. When you get one that works they are fantastic but quality control seem to be lacking. I still would recommend this light. Just make sure you check it out when you receive.

Power little sucker

Really satisfied with this especially since it was half the price of their competitors- plus had a few more features. Easy to use and well made. Perfect for product shots and small in studio use. Would highly recommend. Side note: one of the light domes came cracked from the manufacturer. Adorama's amazing customer service was able to send a replacement dome within two days. Absolutely amazing. super happy with this purchase.

Needed a Compact Set of Lights

So far so good... I needed a small set of lights for a permanent product photography setup at the studio. These are small, lightweight and the built in receiver on the heads with included remote for the camera make this such an easy setup. I probably won't push these lights as they have a set purpose for me, but they're great so far.

Great for a small studio

I chose this strobe to replace a house-brand that had failed to properly operate. My marketing agency has a small studio, mostly for portraits and headshots. The Honey Badger is powerful for its size and the controls are simple and straightforward. Pros: very fast recycle times, even light distribution, built in sensor (when you want to fire off a speedlight, or a sync cable fails) and broad control to adjust the output. Cons: no battery option, for on-location shooting (they tell me it is in the works), the softbox is smaller than I would have liked and have not seen a larger one (nor an octobox+eggcrate option) with this mount. This is a terrific, no BS light. it feels sturdy and thus far has met my expectation nicely.

Great kit for getting shots on the go!

I haven't written many reviews, but my experience so far with this kit has pushed me to write one. I've been doing more and more volunteer and other work with a local school (trying to gain experience while providing them with some services they've asked for). At a certain point, using multiple speedlights with a wireless trigger became cumbersome enough (would need to add at least 1 additional external battery, plus another possible light, etc.). I decided that I should look into some affordable but solid strobes that were easy to take along. I looked at PCB, and they had some great stuff, including a kit that had a battery, but the cost and using their own standard for the lighting attachment didn't work for me for what I'm doing. After looking a little more, I saw that the Honey Badger was recommended for those looking for something along the size of the DB800, but was a little less and used Bowens mount. I watched several videos about their use, and with an upcoming event, bit the bullet and ordered it. Got it in 2 days, and then started playing around with it. Wow! Easy to use, easy to set up the wireless trigger (multiple groups, multiple flash levels). The modeling lamps work great for seeing what's going to happen, and they work well with my Bowens mount modifiers. I'm extremely happy with this purchase! The only thing I'd have to knock it on is the sturdiness of the light stands. While they're fine for the included kit (assuming you don't raise them too high) I feel like you need something sturdier with a larger modifier (using a large octo).

The Guinness Book of World Records named the Honey Badger the "World's Most Fearless Creature". Their powerful physical features, speed, intelligence and general aggressive demeanor combine to make one ferocious little powerhouse that is known to give even top predators a run for their money! We could think of no better namesake for our new light. Our Honey Badger is a compact, 320Ws studio flash head equipped with the speed, power and versatility that every photographer needs to attack their next shoot

The Honey Badger has a built-in wireless receiver that accepts signals from a separately purchased S1 manual or TTL transmitters that can not only wirelessly trigger the flash, but control power level, modeling light, and the beep indicator for full recycling. The light has a Bowens S-Type front accessory mount making it compatible with the many manufacturers that produce products with this mount. The Honey Badger also has a built-in pop-up softbox ring that makes for very fast setup with the included 24 x 24" softbox. Lightweight with a small form factor and impressive performance, the Honey Badger is hard to beat.

The Honey Badger 320

Compact Form Factor

The ability to travel with lighting is crucial for the mobile photographer and size and weight matter. The Honey Badger weighs just 3lbs, measures 5" wide (6" including the outer ring) and 6" deep from the back panel to the edge of the protective cap, making it one of the most compact self-contained studio flash heads on the market. The robust and compact housing makes the Honey Badger the ideal solution for photographers on the move.

The Honey Badger 320

Fast Recycle Time
At full power, the Honey Badger recycles in an impressive 1 second. Recycle times get shorter and shorter as you decrease flash power.

Short Flash Duration
Short flash durations give us the ability to freeze motion beyond the capabilities of our shutter sync speed. At full power, the Honey Badger has a t.1 flash duration of 1/900.

60W LED Modeling Lamp
The Honey Badger is equipped with a 60W LED modeling lamp with the equivalent light output of a 300W tungsten lamp. This flicker-free LED can be used as a continuous light source for both photo and video purposes. The modeling lamp can be set to adjust proportionately to the flash power or to full power. The color temperature was intentionally set to 5600K (daylight), to accurately portray the color of the light from the flash.

The Honey Badger 320

Never Miss an expression

Always quick to respond, impressive recycle speeds allow the Honey Badger to keep up with your fast paced shooting, even at full power.

The stopping power of the Honey badger's short flash durations allow you to freeze motion and create dynamic images.

The Honey Badger 320

Built-in Radio Receiver

The Honey Badger features a built-in radio receiver that is compatible with all S1 TTL Remotes and S1 Manual remote. This allows full control over the lights' power range, modeling lamp and beep function. When using the new S1 Manual remote, the Honey Badger can be adjusted individually via 8 different control groups (A-H), across 15 different channels (1-15). This allows for intricate multi-light setups and negates interference from neighboring photographers.

Tech Image

Versatile Modifier Mount
The most unique feature of the Honey Badger is the versatile modifier mount. The Honey Badger utilizes the popular Bowens S-Type modifier mount, making it compatible with the same modifiers as the S1. In addition, the Honey Badger also features a built-in pop-up softbox ring for use with pop-up style softboxes that are popular with speedlight shooters. The idea behind this feature is to allow photographers to grow into their studio lights by allowing them to use some of the existing modifiers they may already have purchased for speedlights.

Included Pop-Up Softbox
Every Honey Badger includes a 24" pop-up softbox with an inner and outer diffuser. This style of softbox does not require any setup and folds away quickly and compactly.

Glass Dome Diffuser
The Honey Badger includes a frosted glass dome diffuser. This protects the flash tube and helps to spread light evenly throughout the modifier.
