It was dead on arrival. I sent it back.

The good: HRM is surprisingly accurate GPS connectivity is superfast (much better than my garmin) App is fairly intuitive The bad: AFter much research, i have been unable to make the automatic detection of sleep to work Auto activity tracking can be hit in miss, with some very long workouts randomly registered while you are sleeping while not wearing the fitbit Form factor is fairly big, so wearing full sleeved shirts can be tricky, sleeping at night also requires a bit of adjustment with the big watch Overall, i definitely like the watch, its just not perfect for everything, but its pretty good at a few things.

Has more features than I expected. I wear it every day to track my heart rate, my runs and other exercises and calories burned. It tracks sleep as well, but I don't use that function.

I have been wearing the Fitbit Surge for a little over a week. Most things seem to work as advertised. The battery life is less than I expected. At best, I can go 2-3 days between charges. I expected the battery to last at least 5 days. Also the heart rate detection cuts out periodically, but usually picks up again within a few minutes. Syncing to a MacBook Pro is hit or miss. When running the Fitbit connect app on a Mac, most times the app indicates that it failed to sync. Usually, I can get at least 1 sync per day, but it takes many tries. Sometimes the app indicates that a sync has failed when it has actually succeeded. Syncing to an iPhone is flawless, though. Despite the negatives, I still give the Fitbit Surge 4 stars as I do like the features and most work very well. You just have to live with the idiosyncrasies.

Ordered the Surge a little over 2 weeks ago and received it after about 4 days (4th was in between). Been using the watch now for 11 days and I am liking it. First had to get used to it as I hadn't really been wearing watches for the past 2 years. After 2 days I felt naked without ?? I have used the watch during my normal gym wo's, riding my road bike, and on the elliptical and it works fine. There was some controversy about the heart rate measurement but I assume those people didn't follow the instructions from Fitbit...I have checked the HR on the watch and the one presented on the elliptical machine (two complete different ways to measure HR) and the difference was insignificant. I love the way the watch works with the app on my iPhone. what I would like to see improved on the watch are for it to be waterproof (it survives my sweat though), wireless charging and more functionality on a color display. I settled for the Surge as I foresee better products (meeting my wishes) later this year or early next year but for now I am very content with the Surge.

Great choice for a tracker

Fitbit Surge is the tracker that keeps pace with your active lifestyle, partnering with you in everything from runs to cycling. With GPS tracking it's easy to see the ground you've covered, with distance, run time, pace and elevation displayed on its touchscreen LCD. PurePulse Heart Rate provides a continuous and automatic measure of your heart rate on your wrist, allowing you to monitor it during exercise and other activities.
Having multi-sport functionality, Fitbit Surge gives you comprehensive workout summaries to help you stay on top of all of your activities. Keep track of every aspect of your training, viewing your performance from your weekly basketball game, kickboxing workouts and steeply-inclined hikes. To help keep your body charged and ready to go, the Fitbit Surge also allows you to automatically monitor the amount of sleep you have and wakes you with a silent, vibrating alarm.
Syncing Fitbit Surge with your computer or smartphone makes it easy to track trends through detailed charts and graphs, allowing you to note progress and make more effective goals. In addition to tracking your fitness and sleep habits, Fitbit Surge helps you to manage your life by displaying the time of day and syncing with your mobile devices to show call and text notifications. You can also keep your days moving to the pulse of your choosing with music control from your wrist. Fitbit Surge has an impressive battery life that lasts longer than competing trackers, going strong for 7 days without needing to recharge, with its GPS Battery lasting up to 10 hours.
