So far really happy with the CGEM II. My first GEM but pretty simple to use and setup. Night and day tracking difference from my alt/az and now with some guiding it's running nice and smooth.

This thing is amazing! It's built like a tank. It does not come with an actual polar scope but their polar alignment software is dead on. You can hook your computer up to the bottom of the hand controller with a regular mini usb cable and then use that connection for PHD2, Backyard EOS, ect. I did have to download additional drivers separate from their software to make everything work, but after doing that, the thing is absolutely precise. With PHD2 I'm taking 10 min subs with zero problems. My only complaint is that it's really heavy. However, that's probably why its doing so well.

I originally bought the Nexstar 8SE package, but quickly went from being happy with observing to longing to take lon-exposure photographs. I got the CGEM II for a little extra muscle. I couldn't be happier with this mount. I love the All-star polar alignment. I've had the mount for two months now and it takes me about 20 minutes to set up & start photographing. You won't be disappointed with the CGEM II.

Stable and smooth. Like the built-in polar alignment in the firmware. Easy to use.

Great mount as expected from Celestron. It works great and I haven't had any problems with at all. It came very well packaged and the delivery was prompt. I will continue to do business with Adorama.

How the CGEM II Computerized German Type Motorized Equatorial Mount with Tripod revolutionizes your stargazing experience is truly remarkable. This updated version of the esteemed CGEM mount boasts a modern, striking design, and is engineered to securely hold Celestron's high-end SCT optical tubes (up to 11") without any vibration. This makes it an optimal choice for both astrophotography and visual observing.
With a payload capacity of 40 lbs. and a slewing speed of 5 degrees per second, this mount can swiftly and accurately point to any celestial object in its extensive database. The CGEM II's ergonomic design features large Altitude and Azimuth adjustment knobs, simplifying the polar alignment process.
The CGEM II is not just about aesthetics and convenience; it's also about innovation. It incorporates Celestron's groundbreaking All-Star Polar alignment procedure, enabling you to accurately polar align the mount using any star, even if the celestial pole is not visible. This feature is a game-changer for astronomers in areas with obstructed views of the night sky.
Astroimagers will appreciate the Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PEC) feature, which allows users to correct the worm gear's periodic errors. The mount retains these PEC recordings, ensuring consistently accurate tracking.
When observing objects near the Meridian (an imaginary line passing from North to South), the CGEM II continues tracking well past the Meridian. This allows for uninterrupted imaging through the most ideal part of the sky. The mount's robust database includes over 40,000 objects, 100 user-defined programmable objects, and enhanced information on over 200 objects.
In summary, Celestron's CGEM II Computerized German Type Motorized Equatorial Mount with Tripod is a perfect blend of design, functionality, and innovation. It bridges the gap between the Advanced VX Series and CGX Series, offering a superior observing and imaging experience.
