Super-fast printing. Printing on both sides is really fast! But a bit loud when printing. Love that the paper tray holds 550 sheets so have to refill paper less frequently.

I cannot enable web services and I reached out multiple times for support to no avail. I would like to return this printer because the only reason I bought it was so I could print orders in the office from home.

I've had this printer (M501DN) for 4-years, very light usage. Used 1st year maybe 20pages /month, then occasionally after that. Paper tray 2 lift issues started to occur sporadically and had to use manual paper tray. This soon turned into a paper tray 2 completely unusable. Repair tech suggested a new printer since repairs would probable cost almost as much. Not what I expected from a above basic printer.

Pros: Works great. Fast. Big paper tray. Fantastic upgrade from M404. Large toner will yield 18,000 copies. Cons: Expensive. Toner is very expensive.

This printer is a replacement for a Laserjet Enterprise M506X. It is practically the same printer, which works for me. So far, the only problem I've had with this printer is that sometimes it takes a very long time to process and print the document, each page taking a lot of processing time. Once it does get going on a print job, it prints much like the old 506, which is good for me in my office setting. All done and said, this is a another great LaserJet from HP. I've tried other brands in the past, but for great, reliable black & white printing there is nothing like a LaserJet for quality, reliable office document printing.

Printing speed is inconsistent. Sometimes fast and sometime slow.

It's a great printer, but it is slower than expected. I was looking for a comparable printer to our old HP 4550 printers. I was told that this printer was basically the new version, but it definitely doesn't print as fast as the 4550, which is what we really were looking for. So a little disappointed.

Very please with the speed and ease of use. This replaced an aging HP printer and has continued to provide the same quick printing needed.

I purchased this printer fro may son because of its high rating on Consumer Reports, but primarily because it was supposed to be an "AirPrint" device for Apple products. I have two Epson printers that are AirPrint printers that require no wired connection to the device. Turns out that this device will only work with a wired connection to the computer. My son loves the print quality, but because of space constraints, has to have the printer in another room so he has to bring his computer to the printer to print. It has no wireless card at all. While this is an inexpensive HP printer, it is an expensive home laser printer so I was expecting more from HP.

So very pleased with our recent purchase. Very easy to install and use. Had one issue to resolve with printing labels and received excellent support to adjust the speed and print perfect labels on thicker material.

This was a replacement for a worn-out ten year old HP 3015dn laser printer, which was a workhorse. The M501dn five months ago and seems to be of equal quality. It does the job!

This is my third HP LazerJet in almost 30 yeras! Two previous printers were reliable and long lasting, served me well. I love the new one and hope it is as reliable as my 2 previous HP LazerJets.

I really like this printer; I had an older HP printer that I was reluctant to give up but it finally broke down. I called HP, told them what model I had and asked for a similar printer. The salesman told me the comparable printer and in 10 minutes the deal was done. The printer arrived about a week later. It was easy to hook up to my network system and I was surprised how much better this printer was than my old HP. It prints really fast with great quality. I should not have waited as long as I did to replace my old HP.

This printer has mostly worked for two years printing correctly large .pdf document files (many over 175 pages) that contain both letter and legal sized pages (the printer switching from letter to legal and back to letter again, letter from the bottom tray, legal from the top tray). Then this year the printer randomly started to print bizarre ASCII characters during the printing of many documents. I updated to the latest HP printer drivers. I have Windows 10. The printer printed a few document files out correctly and then it started printing the same random ASCII characters on subsequent files. I have collected a stack about a foot high of papers that the printer printed random ASCII characters on. I have been able to print out some of these document files by printing the pages out in groups of five pages, and quickly stopping the printer when the printer starts to print the random ASCII characters. One time it took me an hour and a half to print out a 200 page document file. I have used both Acrobat Reader as well as Foxit Reader to print the documents from, and the problem occurs equally with both pieces of software. I work as a notary and signing agent and it is common for me to print out 400 pages for a signing appointment. These printing problems are causing me to loose income.

I bought this brand new, followed all directions to a 'T' but the email address HP provided does not work and bounces back saying HP.COM security settings do not allow delivery. The printer operates Ok but these extra features are not usable.

The third bullet point says "Auto duplex printing", but it is not, it is manual. It prints out the first set of pages which you have to put face down in tray one then it prints the other side. That is not "Auto duplex printing", it is manual printing. And that is a misleading feature.

Bought two model M501 to replace two other HP printers, models 4200 and 3015. These weigh half as much which tells you something. Why I wouldn't buy again is they don't print landscape. Checked everywhere on the net and these is not a practical fix. Emailed HP but have never had a response. Have used heavy duty HP printers for the last 25 years and this shortcoming is absolutely unbelievable for any printer company to allow a product out without testing or without contacting a customer immediately with an update. Feel like they are a waste of money.

As a self-employed writer, editor, desktop publisher, and writing teacher, I need a B&W laser printer for printing large quantities of drafts, and I hate having to add paper to the tray. When my workhorse LaserJet 4050 finally became unusable, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find a B&W laser printer with a large tray at a reasonable price. I went with the M501, even though it's overkill for the quantity I print, because a 550-sheet tray came standard. It's also super fast. I occasionally need to print 2-sided, and the auto-duplexing is fabulous — wish I'd gotten that years ago. The footprint is exactly the same as the 4050, and it's not even as tall. I love the printer, but I knocked a point off of performance for a couple minor annoyances -- every so often, the printer thinks it's out of paper when it's not (something the 4050 never, ever did), and I have to open and close the tray. I also find it harder to load paper. And when I use the auto-duplexing, pages sometimes push other pages out of the output tray. I finally figured out that a little plastic piece that flips up at the end of the output tray is (I guess) intended to keep the pages in the tray, but that piece is not identified in the drawings of the printer and not mentioned anywhere in the manual I downloaded (since, of course, nothing comes with a manual anymore). (There's at least one other part on the printer that is not identified anywhere, and even though I apparently don't need to do anything with it, it still drives me nuts not knowing what it is or does.)
