I typically shoot with a Sony A7C, but wanted something more pocketable. This fit the bill nicely. The main draw for this camera is that it's an all-in-one package that can streamline your workflow. It's design makes it easy to shoot one handed, image control let's you set different "simulations" to get a look you want without a ton of post-processing, and the built-in HDF means you have to carry one less piece of kit (if HDF is something you're interested in). The only thing I'd recommend is a spare battery for longer shooting sessions.

Hold 2 weeks (during which it took beautiful pics!), then could not be put on anymore, nor did it start up on externally charged battery. Crap, sorry. Only using the supplied battery and charging cable, no water damage, no falls. Sent back to Adorama for repair/replacement

Great camera and great purchase
Discover the latest evolution in compact photography with the Ricoh GR III HDF and Ricoh GR IIIx HDF cameras. Embracing the foundation of the RICOH GR III and RICOH GR IIIx models, these premium cameras are designed to push the boundaries of creativity and precision in photography.
The Ricoh GR III HDF and Ricoh GR IIIx HDF stand out with their newly developed Highlight Diffusion Filter, a groundbreaking feature that transforms ordinary scenes into extraordinary snapshots. By diffusing highlight areas and softly blurring the edges of your images, the HDF brings a unique, expressive quality to your photos, reminiscent of the nostalgic charm found in film photography and vintage cinema.
This special-effect filter enables photographers to explore the visual spectrum between sharp, high-contrast images and softer, more emotive compositions with unparalleled ease. Conveniently, switching between visual styles is seamless, thanks to the quick engage-disengage mechanism of the HDF.
The cameras are equipped with a new Zone Select AF function, enhancing focus precision by automatically identifying the optimal focus point within the shifted 3x3 focus area.
Additionally, both cameras come with the ability to pre-program up to three white-balance settings, allowing for instant adaptation to varying lighting conditions, ensuring your images are not just captured but are brought to life exactly as you envisioned.
The functional elegance of these models is further highlighted by the refined design changes, including the dark silver shutter-release button, differentiating the HDF models from the GR models. At the same time, the default setting of the Fn button now acts as a quick toggle for the HDF, making it simpler than ever to switch between the filter’s engaging effects.
Capture the world through a lens of unparalleled creativity and precision with the Ricoh GR III HDF and Ricoh GR IIIx HDF cameras, where every shot is a masterpiece waiting to be discovered.
The body size of this model is about the same as the GR DIGITAL IV (model with a 1/1.7 type image sensor) while delivering a completely new dimension of performance for the GR series. Controls are improved while maintaining the pursuit of portability, bringing us one step closer to the ultimate snapshooter.
The ultimate snapshot camera. While remaining true to its unchanging concept, the GR continues to evolve.

- Experience the essence of the GR.
Approximately 24.24 effective megapixels deliver high image quality, and an anti-aliasing filterless construction delivers high-definition rendering even in the finest details.
Original noise reduction processing results in high image quality even at high ISO sensitivity. 14-bit RAW recording is also supported for rich tonal reproduction.
A newly developed imaging processor delivers further improvements in high image quality performance, elaborately detailed imaging across the entire sensitivity range, and superb color reproduction.
The camera is equipped with an LCD monitor that supports touch operations and a convenient control dial. These features provide quick control over AF frame movement and menu access.
The GR III will have Bluetooth BLE capabilities offering effortless pairing. When the camera is connected with a communication device via Bluetooth®, the wireless LAN function automatically turns on and off according to the situation. You can additionally record the location information of the communication device in captured images. Automatically transfer captured images to the communication device after shooting. The format of the transferred files can also be selected. Also, you can image transfer while camera is off. Set whether to continue to transfer images when the camera is turned off during transfer processing.
Over the years, the GR III HDF Digital Camera has solidified its position as the ultimate snapshot camera for the modern era. Upholding the GR-series concept of optimizing image quality, snapshot capabilities, and portability, this latest model is equipped with a host of newly designed main components. These include a high-performance lens, an advanced image sensor, and a powerful imaging engine.
Despite its compact size, which is even smaller than its predecessor, the GR III HDF Digital Camera boasts a large APS-C-size CMOS image sensor with approximately 24.24 effective megapixels. This feature enables the camera to produce high-resolution images with exceptional clarity and detail. Furthermore, its short start-up time of approximately 0.8 seconds ensures quick, responsive shooting, making it an ideal choice for capturing spontaneous moments.
The new RICOH GR III HDF model is a high-end digital compact camera that features a built-in HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter). This innovative filter creates mellow, diffused expressions in highlighted areas, adding a unique touch to your photos. The HDF can be activated with a single movement, providing soft, smooth images with diffused light areas, in addition to the clear, sharply focused images that the GR series is known for.
The GR III HDF Digital Camera is equipped with the legendary GR lens, renowned for its superior optical performance. It also features an anti-aliasing filterless construction, which delivers high-definition rendering even in the finest details.
For quick response, the camera employs a high-speed hybrid AF system. The Image plane phase-matching AF delivers high-speed AF, while the contrast-detection AF offers superb focusing precision. The hybrid system ensures faster autofocus and greater precision, enhancing the overall shooting experience.
The GR III HDF Digital Camera also incorporates a sensor-shift type (IBIS) Shake Reduction mechanism, which provides compensation on three axes. This feature ensures clear, blur-free images even in challenging shooting conditions.
The camera's LCD monitor supports touch operations and includes a convenient control dial for quick control over AF frame movement and menu access. The GR III HDF Digital Camera also offers flexible customization options, with frequently used functions that can be assigned to the ADJ lever and Fn button.
In keeping with its commitment to continuous improvement, the GR III HDF Digital Camera evolves with the latest firmware updates. It also features a wide range of advanced image creation functions, making it a versatile tool for both professional photographers and photography enthusiasts.
