I was not inpressed

I don't know what I was expecting for such a low price. The lens felt cheap and upon trying it with my camera I could not justify keeping it. I could tell I'd lose a lot of clarity when zooming in to its max capacity.

My new favorite lens!

Tamron has long been my go-to source for DSLR lenses, so when I needed a longer lens for my Nikon Z7, this looked like a solid choice. Solidly built, light-weight and easy to handle. Excellent sharpness, contrast and color, well matched with the high res 45 MP Z7 sensor. Focusing is fast and spot-on, although it can hunt a bit in dim light. That is partly the camera body. With image stabilization from my Z7, I can easily shoot at 1/15 second at 300 mm. Bokeh is better than expected. Paired with the Nikon 24-70 F4, this makes a perfect kit to carry. After a few days of shooting, this is my new favorite lens. Probably the best price/value ratio of any lens I own. How did the wizards at Tamron pack such great IQ into such a small and inexpensive lens?

Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD Lens is awesome!

Surpassed by expectations for my first tele lens. Very easy to use and great results. Fairly small considering it's on a Sony A6600

Pleasently surprised!!

I have only had the Tamron 70-300mm z mount lens for a little over a week, with very impressive results.. and have found no issues of consequence with focus or distortion. The lens to be very sharp through out. The build quality of the lens is much nicer than I anticipated especially for the price point. It is the perfect travel lens, light weight, and fairly compact 70-300mm is a great variable focal length. Being able to zoom out to 300mm combined with the light weight and size made this a perfect lens for my needs.

Underwhelming

I returned this one pretty quick after using it. The focusing system was not great, it was very slow and not accurate. It was light to carry, but did feel a little cheap. Not worth the asking price, IMO.

Great value

This is a wonderful lens with good range of focal lengths. Nicely compact and lighter than lenses of similar range. Sharp throughout the range except wide open. Produces great images.

Great little lens for the price

This is exactly what you are expecting to get when you purchase it. Its not fast, or incredibly well built, but it is built well enough, cheap, and a fine optic in general. Its sharp across its focal range, renders good colors, and is reasonably light. If you don't use this focal length much, its a good thing to have as a just in case lens. If you do use this focal length alot, I'd suggest something slightly better.

Good Lightweight Telephoto With Excellent Sharpness

Great lens for aerials - excellent vibration reduction, smooth zoom operation and sharp as a tack! This lens is well able to follow focus on fast moving aircraft in Sony E mount format - so long as you select the right AF program, of course! It?s light enough to use for handheld photography all day. Does great job in getting up close to wildlife, too.

Great budget lens for hobbyist that need more reach

For the price, this lens is pretty unbeatable. I really enjoy the length that it gives my A7C, and would buy it again. This is easily the best option if you meet the following criteria -Your camera has in-body stabilization -You want a noticeably lighter lens weight -You are on a budget -You don't need superb low light performance (just average)

Quality for an affordable price.

The lightest 300mm zoom witch makes it easy to take pictures without having to use a tripod. The fast focus is great. Tamron produces quality for a price that I can afford.

Great telephoto value!

Shot these photos of burrowing owls on the Sony A7C with the Tamron 70-300mm lens. Even at 300mm and 450mm in Super 35 mode, the subject was sharp and the background compression was pleasing. Overall a great value for the money compared to the competition!

Better than expected

A lens that performs like lens 2 and 3 times the money. Great photos and adding the digital zoom to the lens zoom with a APS C sensor gives great distance. I don't need to update my camera yet with this lens as it is outstanding with my Sony a6000.

Sharp, light, cheap. My new favorite.

This is a super sharp lens. Much better than the Sony 24-105 f4 G I own, and that lens is no slouch either. It's really light too, so it's my go-to zoom travel zoom, or if I just wanna go for a stroll and can't be bothered to carry too much weight, this is my lens of choice. For the price, sharpness, weight, and focal length, you simply cannot go wrong with this one here. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Loving my new lens

This is the first non-Sony lens I've purchased and I will definitely be considering Tamron in the future. This lens has been fantastic with my Sony a7ii and is much better quality than the zoom kit lenses I've used in the past!

Tamron 70-300 on a Sony a6500 review. Great results

I wanted a telephoto lens for my Sony a6500 for wildlife photos. I considered the Tamron 70-300m and the Sony 70-350mm. Based on the reviews I read, I chose the Tamron at almost half the price of the Sony. While the Tamron does not have image stabilization, my Sony a6500 has built-in image stabilization. I was thrilled with my first day of shooting with the Tamron lens. I could not believe how sharp the lens was. I highly recommend considering this lens for your Sony mirrorless camera providing your camera has built-in image stabilazation.

Love it

This lens is fantastic for the money. It's light and feels good to use. Image quality is great. If you spend 4x as much, you'll certainly get a better lens, but you won't find one in this price range that's as good.

Excellent lens for the price

For the price, this lens is simply amazing. I used it as a upgrade for a lower quality Sony lens that cost almost twice as much. It has far better resolution, auto-focus, and it's lighter. I used it to photograph a protest, and the images were excellent. I also added some extension tubes and did macro photography. Works great for both. It's not going to beat out the G Master fast lens, but it also won't cost you $1,500.

Tamron 70-300mm

Zoom Into The World Of Telephoto.

The World's Smallest & Lightest Telephoto Zoom Lens For Sony Full-Frame E-Mount Mirrorless Cameras.

70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD (Model A047) for Sony full-frame E-mount mirrorless cameras is a telephoto zoom lens designed and created so photographers of all skill levels can enjoy high quality images comfortably. Tamron’s new 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 covers a broad telephoto zoom range yet is the world's smallest size and lightest weight, coming in at 148mm (5.8 in) long with a maximum diameter of 77mm, and weighing just 545g (19.2 oz). With special emphasis on resolving power, Tamron has deployed special lens elements appropriately arranged to correct chromatic aberration, generally very strong in a telephoto lens, as well as other aberrations.

A High-Resolution Telephoto Zoom Lens For Sony E-Mount Mirrorless Cameras That Is Powerful, Portable, & Fun.

To make the 300mm telephoto focal length more fun and accessible, Tamron focused intently on designing a telephoto zoom lens that’s both small and lightweight. Turning the conventional concept of a telephoto lens on its head, the 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 is only 148mm (5.8 in) in length with a maximum diameter of 77mm and a weight of just 545g (19.2 oz).

A High-Resolution Telephoto Zoom Lens For Sony E-Mount Mirrorless Cameras That Is Powerful, Portable, & Fun.

Achieves The Ultimate Combination Of Lightweight & Outstanding Optical Performance.

The 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 zoom’s optical design was refined via thorough simulations utilizing the latest technologies. With high priority on reduced size and weight, Tamron selected the aperture of F6.3 for the telephoto end to achieve a slim lens barrel and outstanding lightness. Taking the weight savings even further, we used a specially treated, high-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy, the first time Tamron has used this material in the mount components of a lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Achieves The Ultimate Combination Of Lightweight & Outstanding Optical Performance.

High Performance Autofocus System Means You'll Own Every Shot.

The AF drive on the 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 includes an RXD motor unit to help you stay focused on the action. RXD uses an actuator to precisely control the rotational angle of the motor, allowing it to directly drive the focusing lens without passing through a reduction gear. A sensor that precisely detects the position of the lens enables high-speed and accurate AF, which is ideal when shooting continually moving subjects or recording video.
