This was my micro 4/3 lens. I am a full frame shooter and was skeptical about getting good quality image from such small sensor and small lens. But I have to say I'm am so impressed with this glass. The images are stunning and the stabilization works fantastic with my Gh5. The footage handheld is very impressive. I chose this over the newer version since there wasn't much difference and it was a few hundred dollars less. I would recommend this lens.

I use this lens on my GH4 mainly for recording video. The sharpness and clarity at f 2.8 is great. I'm able to shoot indoors without a ton of extra light with great results. It's a good zoom range for interviews and B-roll.

Small and light for a f2.8 lens. Sharp and refers nicely. I've also owned the 12-40, and I prefer this the 12-35. I think the rendering is nicer and the smaller size is more in line with my wanting to use m43 mount in the first place.

Excellent lens - solid workhorse that gets used 6 days a week in studio and extreme weather conditions. IQ is amazing, dependable fast OIS and focus. Never a problem.

What a perfect zoom for the GX85! I find it balances well and just takes very lovely looking pictures. I am not just talking about the sharpness which is great across all focal lengths but the way the pcitures are rendered. In spite of many people comparing 12-32 kit lens favorably with this lens, I feel that there is just no comparison, both in the quality of the lens as well as the "character" of the pictures taken.

I purchased this lens for the current trip on the Rhine River in Europe . It is fast, sharp and light weight. Really enjoy using it. Which I could send in a sample photo to show how good it is.

I like the Panasonic 12-35 lens a lot. It is much sharper than the 14-42 kit lens, at the center and at the edges, and is an excellent upgrade for your standard lens. Plus the extra 2mm at the wide end is very useful (24mm equivalent is significantly wider than 28). I find its size and weight to be very acceptable for a lens with its specs (very high-quality optics and 2.8 constant aperture). Its build quality is also excellent. It is well worth its price.

This is my first lens to go with my first mft's camera (GH4). I was worried that the fitting was very tight with the lens mount, but was assured by support that it is supposed to fit snug. Performance wise, it handles chromatic aberrations well wide open. It has fast focusing, smooth focus ring, and compact in size. I use this as an all around lens for video and occasional photos. I could have opted to go with prime lenses first, but this is a highly regarded lens and I agree. It is not uber great, but it is a good overall and high quality choice with decent OIS.

I bought a Lumix DMC-GH3 with a kit lens. The kit lens works great outside (in daylight), but the zoom was so limited, so I bought this LUMIX® G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. Lens. I've used it for both pictures and video and have been very pleased by the quality compared to the kit lens. This past weekend I was asked to shoot some pictures for a church (in low light - no flash). I shot closeups of the band playing in practice, then during the meeting from a longer distance. The G X series works much better than the less expensive lens. The darker portions of the picture were still clear, not distorted due to low light (like my other lens). It's not a cheap lens, but I'd say it's worth the investment. I will say, it has a tendency to overexpose when using automatic settings, but the color and clarity are awesome.

I have used this lens for 8 months now and it has hardly comes off of my camera, a GX7. The lens covers the range that is most useful to me and its fast F2.8 aperature and sharp results satisfy most of my shooting needs.

This is the perfect companion to a GH4. In the size of an APS-C SLR kit zoom, you get a very refined 2.8 zoom with real quality feel. It may not be the ideal match to a really compact body or if you really want to travel light (try 12-32 for that), but for most GH-series users, this is the standard zoom to have at a good price for what you get. f/2.8 may not give you massive dof control on m43, but it is more useful for everyday shooting that it is on a larger format DSLR and this lens is sharp wide open across the range and frame and with stabilization to really help the smaller format sensors in low-light. I wish it would to a clickless constant-aperture zoom-in in video mode and that Panasonic would offer a 2k f/2 OIS lens that one could dream about, but for most shooters, this is really the standard zoom to get.

Overall good and versatile lens. One great disadvantage is that this lens is not parfocal, i.e. focus point is shifting when zooming. Also missing: extension tubes

I bought this lens for my long Europe vacation. Took more than 5000 pictures using G6 body. Very versatile. It easily withstood wind, sand and occasional splashes. I am still working through the shots but already did not regret a single minute that I owned the lens. I am an amateur, but I noticed very little distortion. 12 mm comes very handy inside buildings, compared to 14 mm on most kit lenses. 35 mm/F2.8 actually produces nice bokeh. Downsides: (minor)I could not operate manual focus ring with hood parked on the lens. I had to either remove the hood or attach it in working position thus making the camera bulkier. And the larger one is that the lens does not have Lightroom profile.

Using in conjunction with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera. Very clear optics and well made and very lightweight. The image stabilization is crucial for handheld videography.

I take a lot of landscape photos. This lens is perfect - great wide angle, and very sharp. It is also good on low-light situations.

Almost as good as primes with a very flexible zoom range from wide open to portrait. I wish the zoom action was similar to the companion 35-100 zoom which does not elongate while the 12-35 does.

A bit pricey, but very useful on my GH3. I'd like to get the 35-100 2.8 sometime soon.

I purchased this lens to compliment my kit adding a fast, short zoom capability. Despite being expensive, the lens does not disappoint. The f2.8 aperture, and sharpness at that opening, nearly eliminate the need for a flash indoors; and what flash is used, can be much softer. With its 12mm wide angle capability and the 16:9 format option in the Panasonic cameras, this is also an awesome wide angle lens for landscape shots - wide and sharp to the edge with little barrel distortion. The auto focus is nearly instantaneous and seems very accurate.

This is no doubt THE BEST micro 4/3 out there. I used this lens mostly for video, love the lowlight and wide angle on it. My only complain is the lens cap keep coming off by itself.

The optics for this lens are terrific. Even wide open it's a winner. However, I was unable to get a smooth zoom, even when using Zoom lever DMW-ZL1. It's now in for adjustment, and hopefully its zoom action will equal its optics when returned.

For the micro 4/3s system this is a exceptional lens. Very nice for low light shots. Very nice image quality across the board. Sharp , contrasty, and very nice color. The only drawback the DOF is more comperable to 5.6 on a 35mm sensor. This lens does produce very nice bokeh. I just wish they would have made it a f/2.0. But then it would have cost even more. If you want a a really nice street Xoom, and don't mind the price, this is a winner.

Autofocus is speedy, would satisfy the most discerning user. As a reviewer put it, this lens was built to meet a specification not a price. It has a good range of focal length for daily use. It is a handsomely fitted lens which gives crisp images and is well suited for still and video. Zoom action is a little bit stiff and may need an accesssory lever to achieve zoom control. Not a gripe, just an observation. I would like to know how weather sealed this lens is,and Pana does not say except one gasket.. I am a cheapskate at heart and yet I feel I got my money's worth. Hope the price drops a little, but so do all of us with limited hobby funds. Worth the cash if you need the F 2.8 constant. Or like the value of same.

Panasonic zoom lens LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. (H-HS12035) (35mm camera equivalent: 24-70mm) for the LUMIX G Micro System.
Crystallizing Panasonic's optical technologies, the "x" lens features superb image rendering for lifelike textures, crisp edge-to-edge contrast, a unique Nano Surface Coating for minimal ghost and flare and natural atmospheres with remarkable transparency.
The LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. lens offers a versatile zoom range of 12-35mm (35mm camera equivalent: 24-70mm) featuring F2.8brightness at entire zoom range. It is suitable for capturing a wide range of scenes from dynamic landscape to portrait taking advantage of beautiful defocus or fast shutter speed.
Panasonic's Nano Surface Coating technology is adopted to minimize the reflection at entire visual light range (380nm-780nm) by applying the extra-low refractive index coating with nano-sized structure on the surface of the lens. It results in the super clear picture with dramatic reduction of ghost and flare.
The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) which is newly integrated in the LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. effectively compensates for not only small, fast movement but also large, slow one making it easy to shoot super clear shots even in low-lit situations such as in night time or indoors.
Comprising of 14 lenses in 9 groups, the UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens minimize chromatic aberration while the UHR (Ultra High Refractive) lens realizes high descriptive performance from corner to corner. It features high contrast and resolution from the center to the corner at entire zoom range, making it possible to capture the details of a scenery and a portrait with rich perspective. The inclusion of 4 aspherical lenses that helps achieving the downsizing of lens unit to boast outstanding compactness with approx. 73.8 mm in length and approx. 305 g in weight for high mobility.
It incorporates superior inner focus system, which enables excellent resolution and contrast from full life-size magnification to infinity. The inclusion of stepping motor makes the focusing action smooth and silent for use in both photo and video recording. When mounted on the cameras of LUMIX G Micro System, users can take advantage of the high-speed, high-precision Contrast AF system.
Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. Highly reliable metal mount endures long time use.
Designed to stand against splash/dust with a rubber ring on the lens mount, the sophisticated metallic-finished look of the LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. / POWER O.I.S. suits the profile of stylish camera body of LUMIX Compatability:
