Got the Sony WH-1000XM5 as a birthday gift for my friend, and she's beyond happy with it! ?? The noise cancellation is on another level - much better than Apple's headphones. Sound quality is richer, bass is deeper, and it's way more comfortable for long listening. Definitely feels more premium and worth the price. When I listen the music from Apple and Spotify the WH-1000XM5 have warm sound. Good for the Lon time use. But, the easy to affect the strains form the oil from ears or hair.

These headphones are easy to use, lightweight, and comfortable. Sound quality is crisp but does not quite meet the depth and richness of my old Ziks from Parrot. The Ziks were twice as expensive, though! I'll enjoy these Sony headphones well.

Headband is painful, not made for smaller or female/ childrens head size. I am an averaged size female and it will not adjust small enough. The added pressure gives me a headache so I do a messy bun and sit it on there until I can find a fix. I review 150-200 audiobooks a year with these. They are the best overall quality I've tried. The comfort is perfect on the ears. Noise cancellation is so good I've slept with them on. My ears do not get sweaty. I don't have to take my earrings off. I have used them for phone calls and voice is clear to the person on the other line. Doesn't pick up background noise. I would have upgraded to future models if they had made them to adjust smaller and fixed the headband/cushion issue. I talked to a customer service rep from the website and no changes have been made to the design to fix the problem. It is no secret and there are a lot of forums talking about ways to make these more comfortable. I will buy them immediately when or if they do.

In February 2024, I purchased the WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphone. After a year of usage, I encountered an issue with the left-sided headphone, which no longer produced sound. Unfortunately, I did not have an extended warranty and opted to send the headphone to Sony's repair company, Encompass. The diagnosis revealed that both speakers had sustained damage (Both Speakers are Blown). The total cost for the diagnosis, repair parts, and labor amounted to $333.34. The original purchase price of the headphone was $349.79. It is disheartening that the headphone failed and the speakers were damaged after only a year of use. This incident raises concerns about the product's quality. I would rate the Sony WH-1000XM5 at one out of five stars and urge consumers to be aware of this experience.

Honestly, the XM3 was way better. I went through two XM4 models with malfunctioning sound quality (booming, static, crackling sounds that gradually became louder) while playing music or simply using the noise canceling feature without music.

I bought these for my wife for Christmas. She really liked them but after about a year the joint connecting the headband to the ear piece broke. This was just outside the warranty period, so we reviewed some videos to learn it is a common issue and follow some tips (e.g., try plastic weld). That worked for a few weeks, then the side broke, so we did the same thing, then it broke again, hence the duct tape. This was normal household wear, and I definitely would expect better from Sony and this price point. They have setup a service via Microland for headband repair, but that is another $150 and I would sooner put that toward new headphones with a different company.

Upgraded from my XM3 to the XM5. The ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) feature is significantly better with the XM5. Highly recommeded.

Bought this in November 2023 and only lasted 18 months and now the right speaker driver is totally dead. For $400 dollars I expected better especially from Sony. Their quality and support is rapidly going down the drain as well as my money.

Bought a little less than a year ago, both hinges are broken, the battery life is abysmal, the sound quality has decreased severely, now to the point where these are unusable in any shape or form. $400 for a month of good usage. After that, it just degrades very quickly. (side note; really uncomfortable most of the time, never a good fit and would always rest funky on my head and ears.)

I bought it a month ago and I never regret it , it so comfort to put it around your ears. It was a amazing experience when you listening to your favourite kind of music it's truly different than any headphone that I ever have before. When you connect it with 360 live music apps it's give you another dimension of music experience that you never heard it before it just like going to live concert. Im really glad to have it with me , now im always bring it with me whenever im going out especially on holiday.

I would appreciate if we had some good features added to the Xm5 such as THE LISTENING MODE feature from the Xm6. And the sound quality and the noise cancelling feature needs some improvements since the price we pay as a customer is not cheep. I would appreciate if you would take this matter seriously and fix these problems in the next update for these Xm5 headphones. Thank you.

Useless for watching movies. Cannot disable Automatic Gain Control -AGC of source signal. Dialogue volume OK but when characters stop talking volume drops to total silence eliminating all critical background sounds and any mood music. Destroys suspension of disbelief pulling viewer out of movie. Volume continuely goes up and down ruining and wasting all the effort and work by the sound engineer. Gone back to my WIRED Sennheiser headphones.

The best thing about these is the battery life! I use them all the time and only have to charge once a week max. They also charge to full in genuinely 15 minutes which is insane. I bought these almost a year ago now and I am so happy with them. Good quality, durable, good case, very comfortable to wear. They sometimes hurt the top of my head a bit, but only after wearing them for hours on end. Overall, I am very pleased and impressed!

After using this product for just a month, I deeply regret spending such a high amount on what turned out to be a very average and uncomfortable pair of headphones. I expected premium sound quality and comfort, but got neither. The audio is mostly flat and unimpressive - bad for music, worse for watching films. After using equalizer only it made some progress but not to my expectations. To make things worse, the headphones heat up after just 30 minutes of use, making them painful to wear for any extended period.
