I have been using mic for almost three years on shoots ranging from industrial to corporate to narrative. This piece of kit has saved my bacon more times than I can count. On-camera or boomed, this thing just rocks! Much more neutral profile than the offerings from Rode.

This item has a hiss. There is no help for this issue. It may be isolated, however there is no customer service provided by Diety to answer questions in a timely manner (Send an email and we will get back with you in 24 to 48 hours). There are no online fixes or substantial answers for this issue.

Better than Rhode video mic pro (which I bought and returned to get the Diety)for many reasons, and cost less for complete field kit in a case! Size and shape of mic is as a real mic, so not as bulky and awkwardly tall, like the Rhode...and cable plugs in on the side instead of back. Definately fits better on DJI Ronin S with my Lumix GH5. Also the wind screen is interchangable(unlike Rhode). Would be nice if field kit came with dead cat though, so make sure to order a dead cat if you plan to get best performance outside. This goes for all camera mics of course) You just can't beat the deal on the field kit! The Diety is clearly the most well thought out and versitile choice for an on camera mic currently available, and the fact that you also end up with a pretty good hand held/boom mic is a sweet bonus!

This mic rocks!

I have been using mic for almost three years on shoots ranging from industrial to corporate to narrative. This piece of kit has saved my bacon more times than I can count. On-camera or boomed, this thing just rocks! Much more neutral profile than the offerings from Rode.
Inside the V-Mic D3 Pro lives a microprocessor that digitally shakes hands with the audio input it's been plugged into. The D3 Pro will work with a phone, tablet, DSLR, body pack transmitters; just about anything with a 3.5mm microphone jack. We have tested it on a dozen DSLR models, two dozen phones, a handful of Android based tablets and the microphone inputs on laptops. When plugged into devices that have a stereo microphone input, the V-Mic D3 Pro outputs dual mono tracks. It can also be adapted to some microphone inputs that use the mini XLR jack.
The V-Mic D3 Pro features a +20dB step-less analog gain adjustment dial. On each side of the dial the V-Mic D3 Pro features a bump guard that helps prevent the dial from being accidentally rotated. The +20dB of gain is added on a linear scale so you can dial in the exact amount of gain you need for the shot.
Inside the V-Mic D3 Pro lives a 320mAh Lithium Ion battery. Run time for the V-Mic D3 Pro is 51 hours and will automatic turn off if left in standby mode for 15 minutes. The battery is charged in a little less than 2 hrs.
The V-Mic D3 Pro features two levels of low cut: 75hz and 150hz. And instead of a switch that is sunken into the frame that's hard to toggle, the D3 Pro does it all with a single button on top of the unit. With two levels of low cut the V-Mic D3 Pro is ready for even the windiest day.
We partnered with Rycote to design this unique, one of a kind on-camera shock mount. Our design allows you to mount the D3 Pro how ever you want: forward, middle, back. This means you can center it over your camera for perfect balance when using a gimbal. Underneath the hot shoe you will find a threaded female mounting point so you can mount it with a friction arm and use the V-Mic D3 Pro as a plant mic.
Our partnership with Rycote also has allowed us to create a Location kit bundle that will allow you to mount the V-Mic D3 Pro professionally to a boom pole. Unlike other brands whose on camera mics can't really live outside of their own designed shock mount, the V-Mic D3 Pro can fit into most universal shock mounts on the market. The filmmaker's bundle kit adds a Rycote InVision Mount featuring the Duo-Lyre on a pistol grip and a D-XLR (phantom power to 3-volts 3.5mm adapter).
