Arrived as advertised and well packaged. advertised to work with AF function and seems to function well in that regard. Photo quality does not appear to be derogated. I have used it very little to this point but the device seems to be what I paid for. Pleased so far.

I've only taken a couple of practice shots so far and i didn't see any darkening around the edges of the photos. Auto focus is a little iffy when shadows are involved but manual focus i prefer anyway. Glass is good quality. I'm pleased with it. I'm surprised i actually got it since the post office was responsible for the delivery.

I can't afford to spend thousands on a 400mm telephoto lens. This is a great solution. I use it on my Nikon 80-200 which gets me up close and personal to wild life.

If you want to add some length to your lenses grab yourself one of these. Much cheaper than purchasing a longer focal length lens. You lose two stops of light and a small amount of sharpness but at the savings it sure is worth it. Kenko is a great teleconverter. Well made and affordable.

Tested on a Canon 7D with a Canon 70-300mm (admittedly an iffy case for using a TC). Did a careful comparison (weighted tripod, remote release, etc) and found no real improvement between using the TC and upscaling an image without it. I did the same test with an old, borrowed Quantaray TC and there *was* an improvement, so I'm wondering if this was a bad copy. Regardless I returned it: I think I'll save my pennies for a longer lens. I'll give it two stars since the build quality was fine.

I purchased this and also the similar Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 DGX teleconverter to use with an older Nikon 300mm F2.8 AFlens. This older AF lens does not contain an internal focus motor (as the more recent AF-I and AF-S lenses do). The Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DGX teleconverters are the only units available that include the driveshaft and coupling allowing autofocus with such older lenses. I also have the original Nikon 80-400mm VR lens which uses the same AF mechanism. Obviously the camera must be equipped with a focus motor for this to function - and not all do. I'm using both a D610 and D300 - whcih have internal focus motors. Both the 1.4 x and 2x Kenko teleconverters provide autofocus with the Nikon 300 f2.8 and the 1.4x with the Nikon 80-400. The 2x also provides AF under some conditions with the 80-400 (bright and high contrast scenes). Optical performance of both the 1.4x and 2x is very good - on par with the MF Nikon TC14, TC16A and TC201 converters I have - although I have not tested the TC14B or TC301 converters specifically recommended for the 300mm f2.8. I detect no practical loss of sharpness and (only a small loss of contrast) with either the 1.4 x or 2x on the 300mm f 2.8 although the resulting long focal length certainly is affected by atmospheric conditions such as haze. I have not fully evaluated the optical performance of either teleconverter when used with the 80-400 VR however, as mentioned above AF with the 1.4x functions and also with the 2x under some conditions. VR works with both as well. Mechanically - the Kenko teleconverters seem well built - however the bodies are apparently some sort of engineering plastic. The mounts are metal. Used on lenses with integral tripod mounts the teleconverter has only to support the camera body so this is acceptable in my application. I have not evaluated these teleconverters with other lenses - so their performance may or may not be as good as I've experienced with the 300mm f 2.8. There really are no other teleconverters available today that provide AF with the old Nikon 300mm f2.8 AF lens - so there is really no other choice. In summary - I'm quite pleased with both the 1.4x and 2x Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 DGX teleconverters for my application.

This extender has difficulty with auto focus on Nikon cameras. It works well if used in manual focus.

I use this lens with a Canon 70-300mm lens.The Kenko gives automatic focusing up to about 200mm,but from there to 300mm it does not.One must focus manually in this region-which is no big problem.The teleconverter is well made and has the look of qualityI would recommend it.

I mostly use with prime lenses from 85 to 300 mm Nikon. Results are sharp with a lens that is sharp to begin with. A surprise was how useful it can be with a 105 mm macro lens. Nice.

I have excellent results with this converter using my Nikon 300 f4 lens, even hand held most of the time. I shoot with a Nikon D3s so I do push the ISO up to keep my shutter speeds over 600. Technique is key with this combo. It doesn't work with my 80-400 over 300mm zoom. The auto focus gets confused on what you're trying to focus on and it also gets to distorted.

Bought this product to use with a Canon 70-300DO lens for protability in the field. It works well so far and I have tested it on other lenses including 28-135. It AF at all ranges and all the lenses tested. Also on several Canon camera bodies from Pro to a 30D. Images do not show any degradation. Early in the game but am very satisfied.

It does not work on my Nikon D3100 with a Nikon AF-S 55-200 lens. I returned the first one for exchange but the new didn't work either.

Physically there were no compatibility issues between the camera body and lens with teleconverter. It performed well when mounted on a tripod with a 300mm lense, provided the subject was not moving. I used it exclusively for two days in familiar settings. It did not produce the sharpness of image I had gotten with the brand 1.7X teleconverter.
