I have been using Kirk L Brackets for many years because they work so well mounted on a tripod and monopod. Kirk L Brackets are engineered to fit exactly to my Canon DSLR cameras. They work especially well when changing from horizontal to vertical composition very quickly. Any photographer who attaches their camera to a tripod should have a Kirk L Bracket.

... but should do more considering the exorbitant price. I now use Sunwayfoto.

I usually purchase Really Right Stuff products over Kirk but I needed this for my other 5D MK III right away. It seems like Kirk's dovetail tolerances are different from RRS and this was too tight for my RRS Lever release clamp. I also didn't like have to fiddle with 2 hex screws vs. only one. I returned it and was charged a restocking fee because I didn't bring it back with the lousy blister packaging it came with.

Great quality as always but I just do not understand the design where there is a separate pice for a strap and a bit of difficulty to flush up the bracket to the camera with a strap attached to the camera, which is difficult to unattach and should not be required. I would have designed to more easily allow a strap attached to the camera when using the L Bracket.

This is my first Kirk plate. I've used Really Right Stuff for years, but the Kirk L-bracket provided adjustability to accommodate the USB cable (for tethering). The RRS bracket didn't, without the purchase of an additional $65 extender block. The finish on the Kirk bracket is perhaps not quite as nice as the RRS plates I've owned, but it's certainly adequate. These L-brackets are hardly stylish, anyway.
