WORKS GREAT TO SOFTEN LIGHT
I LOVE THIS DIFFUSER. IT WORKS GREAT. sOMEWHAT BULKY BUT STAYS ON THE FLASH VERY WELL AND WHEN IT COMES TO SOFTENING THE HARSH LIGHT, IT DOES THE JOB VERY WELL.

Needs a bracket and the right flash
Diffusion works very well, almost too well. Used on hot shoe, the dome directs enough light downward to cause flare on physically short lenses. On some compact Pentax prime lenses, a hood did not prevent the flare; on others, it did.
Must be used with a flash with locked swivel and a grippy surface, or this heavy thing will flail around and fall off. It attached quite well to a Sigma 610 DG Super but unreliably to a Pentax AF 540FGZ.

Graslon Prodigy
I use this on a Nikon SB-800 for fill light for portraits. It reduces the harshness of the flash beautifully and even knocks down the shadow behind the subject if they're close to a wall.
I've used softboxes, diffusers, bounce before and this one product that's easy to use beats them all.
I'd buy it again. My only regret is I didn't get it sooner.

Just started experimenting with it-
It really lets out a lot of light- I need to experiment and adjust my flash output-because in some cases it was too strong I am still experimenting

Awkward and Heavy
It was used to photograph a fund raising event in doors and outdoors.
No matter how tight I cinched the strap the Graslon Diffuser Dome remained loose on my Nikon SB600 Speedlight on the Nikon D200. It significantly reduced the light out put. I got the best results from one to eight feet. Beyound that the light falls off dramatically. I retuned it.

I have a whole box of these things and this is by far the best because it has a larger effective area.

Too heavy for Canon 580 EXII
If you are buying this to use with a Canon 580 EXII Speedlite you will be disappointed. The weight of the Graslon Prodigy overpowers the 580's click stops in the intermediate positions (for example, tilted up 45 degrees or rotated 45 degrees). You can put the flash head in that position but the slightest movement of the camera (as in if you are hand-holding and you move AT ALL) will cause the flash head to fall out of the position you wanted to use it in. Since the flash head will not maintain its position you will not be able to shoot continuously or spontaneously. This is a shame because the light quality is absolutely fantastic but the weight incompatiblity with the 580 EXII is a dealbreaker. Let's hope that Canon re-engineers the flash to be able to maintain the flash head position with more weight attached. Until then, I would stay away from this product.
