Love this lens for portrait work. It's used mainly on my D850 and is super sharp even when shot wide open which is how I shoot most of my headshots.

Very fast lens with wonderful clarity using my Nikon D810. I've shot a couple thousand photos both indoor and outdoor and I have nothing but positive things to say.

It is lacking the old Nikon quality with its plastic build, but the glass is all there, and so is the tech! I would recommend this lens to anyone

superb lens with nice bokeh. Also, the fixed, fast aperture is useful for indoor sports that do not require a longer focal length.

I like it for portraits. Good value: the f/1.8 gives nice backgrounds without breaking the bank.

My go-to lens for all my portraits and senior sessions. Going to upgrade to the 1.4 soon but this is an excellent starting lens and something I would have in my kit all the time.

Amazing lens for the price. Great subject isolation and 85 is the perfect portrait focal length. Very versatile and pretty decent speed for lower light conditions. Would recommend

I received the 85mm a few weeks ago and I did not have time to test it properly with my Nikon D850 yet. The dozen of pictures I have taken look nice and sharp and with great bokeh. I am not a professional photographer but I bought this product with the intention to start a professional activity hopefully in the near future. As far as I can tell, it is a great lens and I am looking forward to shooting more (people and animal portraits) and using all its potential.

Decent lens, works fine, but feel an f/1.4 is worth the extra money if looking for something better in low-light.

I had been looking at other lens that were 2-3x more expensive and maybe a bit faster. I just did not want to break my bank. I read review after review of this lens. They were all spot on. I am so happy with it. I am taking portraits and they are exactly what I want. I would recommend this lens.

I bought this lens based on a book I recently read called ?Photographing Women?. It goes in-depth about different poses, shapes of faces, and which lens are suitable for certain subjects/scenarios. This is my favorite lens to date and I love how creamy the background looks !!

Great lens. I love how light that it is. I am not used to a non zooming lens, but I do like how it is not as heavy as my other ones and it is easy to change in and out. Takes great portrait pictures. I was pleasantly surprised.

I’m absolutely in love with this lens. For the price, it’s spectacular. The 1.4 f-stop just doesn’t have enough features to make it worth that crazy price, and I definitely don’t feel like I’m settling with the 1.8. It’s smooth, it’s clean, and the photos are flawless. If you’re a side hobby photographer like me, you’ll want this lens for any portraits!!

I use this for all my portraits. It's sharp and lightweight. I don't shoot portraits more wide open than f1.8, so this is a great value. I love this lens!

I have been shooting Nikon since 2014. I use a mixture of third party lens as well as Nikon. I have been debating between the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 and several other products for quite a few months (reading other consumer reviews and looking at videos). I finally decided to go with Nikon and I am very pleased with my decision. It's an inexpensive gem of an 85mm lens. Wide open it produces excellent, flattering portraits with beautiful background blur. Street shots and landscapes are detailed with excellent color, contrast and clarity. I love the fact that I have a medium telephoto that does not make my D 810 or DF to heavy. Great buy and Adorama was quick and easy with delivery and packaging

I’ve wanted this lens for awhile and I finally decided to purchase it for my Nikon D5500. I just started shooting portraits I love love this lens it is sharp and crisp great Bokeh. I love the distance especially in the times of the Corona Virus it gives me the distance away from my subject. I have the 50 mm but this is now my favorite portrait lens. I would highly recommend it.

Phenomenal Lens!
By Baseline P.
I bought this lens a few weeks ago and it's been incredible to shoot with. It's extremely quick and great in low light. The 1.8 f-stop allows for a creamy bokeh. For a long time, I dreamed about one day purchasing the 85mm 1.4G, but now that I've purchased this one, I am extremely content.
85mm F1.8 makes my heart sing

This lens is superb ! Pros: Very delicious creamy bokeh Sharp as a tack! Doesn't brake your bank account ! Cons: Hard to find one except that It's not the 85 f1.4 Conclusion : If you can't afford the 85mm 1.4 get the 1.8 ! you wont regret it.
