Adorama TV presents Michael Artsis at NAB 2014 with a first look at Canon's newest offerings and an overview of the Cinema EOS lineup, which is available now.
While the Canon CINE-SERVO CN7x17 KAS S 17-120mm T2.95 Cinema Lens for PL Mount is a versatile, high-quality lens designed for professional use, it offers more than just superior optical performance. This lens is a perfect blend of functionality and convenience, designed to perform exceptionally in both shoulder-mounted applications and as a traditional cinema lens.
Featuring an ENG-style Digital Drive handgrip with a zoom rocker switch, this lens can be easily detached for manual cinema operation, offering flexibility to cinematographers. The CINE-SERVO lens boasts a 4K optical performance across a broad focal length of 17mm to 120mm, all within a compact and lightweight body. This makes it an ideal choice for filmmakers seeking a versatile lens that doesn't compromise on quality or portability.
The lens incorporates a three-group inner focus system, designed to minimize focus breathing and provide a stable angle of view. With an 11-blade iris, it allows for creative depth-of-field manipulation and natural "bokeh" background, enhancing the aesthetic quality of your shots.
Designed to work with single-sensor cameras, this lens is compatible with both PL and EF mounts. Its compliance with industry-standard camera-to-lens communication protocols ensures its compatibility with multiple brands and models of 4K, 2K, and HD cameras.
The CINE-SERVO 17-120mm T2.95 lens offers dual operability. With its Canon Digital Drive handgrip unit attached, it's ideal for shoulder mount camera configurations commonly employed in ENG, broadcast, or cinema shooting. The lens also features a 16-bit high-precision microprocessor within the Digital Drive unit, enabling operators to pre-program focus and zoom position/speed, as well as iris settings, allowing for precise, repeatable performance.
The lens integrates strategic design features for intuitive, convenient operation. The lens barrel markings are clearly engraved in both feet and meters on both sides of the lens barrel, and focus indicators on the front side of the lens are marked on an inclined surface to make them easier to see from the back of the camera.
In addition, the lens features a 180-degree focus rotation angle, and both 0.8 type and 0.5 type gear module focus accessories can be used. The lens support shafts for support rods, a lens hood unit, and the ability to mount major power-driven accessories, matte boxes, and other standard options used by filmmakers are also included with the lens.
The Canon CINE-SERVO CN7x17 KAS S 17-120mm T2.95 Cinema Lens for PL Mount is a testament to Canon's commitment to delivering reliable, durable, and professional-grade cinematography equipment.
