The product is great for listening to music and watching movies. high-quality sound and control from a smartphone I like everything so far. So far I like everything and time will tell if anything needs to be improved. I like using it via smartphone, it's very convenient.

This is a remarkable receiver/amp for a home theater. It has outputs for Dolby 7.1.2 speakers. I am using Dolby 5.1.1 speakers in our living room, with second zone stereo speakers in our dining room, and there are two speaker slots left for ceiling speakers in the living room! I am happy with 5.1.1 surround; it is plenty full for the movies we watch. It has 7 HDMI inputs for devices, plus an eARC HDMI input for the TV. This allows the TV to play through the speaker system, or for any of the other inputs to play through the TV with full speaker system. Last but not least, this amp has phono inputs! I am amazed with the capabilities and sound quality of this item. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love this receiver since it was updated over the weekend. It had a problem switching inputs on its own but the update solved that problem. Makes watching a movie or listening to music so much more enjoyable.

I purchased this new unit due to sudden failure of my 10 year old Yamaha unit, I chose this model because I wanted the ability to connect a turntable to phono input . I encountered difficulty getting the unit set up and had to get help, it appears to function ok when watching TV with good surround sound quality form my speaker system however when I try to set up and use my turntable the sound is mediocre at best and I find it cumbersome to attempt to improve it . I now need to visit the store where I purchased to get help and hopefully allow me to enjoy listening to my LP's with good sound. NOTE: the multiple page owners manual is complicated overall and not intuitive or easy to navigate , I am not overly impressed with this purchase at all. Also not being able to have controls in front of the unit and having to go to set up menu every time to make changes and adjustments is not convenient like my previous unit was

#SWEEPSTAKES This RX-V6A AV Receiver is the third Yamaha in a row that we have had since 2007. It was time to upgrade to a Receiver that would process 4K and make use of Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. It works great with our OLED flat panel television and our turntable with an MM cartridge. It is set up for 7.1 surround sound. One drawback of the prior receivers was direct "B" connections to an amplifier that would play analog audio signals to dual point speakers we have in the dining room and kitchen. With the 6AX, digital and analog signals will play to the other room in "party" mode whether a vinyl record, Pandora, internet radio, or a movie played through a streaming channel. The sound is crisp, full, and realistic and there is plenty of drive when needed. The unit is very sleek. We have been very happy with it, and it is the best of the three that we have owned.

Replaced a 15+ year old Marantz. Paired the new Yamaha with Klipsch speakers (F,C,Surr and Sub). Outstanding clarity and sound. Hook-up was relatively easy and my wife and I were actually surprised at how much improvement the sound was over the Marantz (that we really enjoyed for years). You can rattle the rooftop with this and still retain the crisp clear sound. Also enjoy having Bluetooth now for Pandora thru my phone. No issues so far, excellent receiver.

Sound is crystal clear. Plenty of power. Nice to look at. Wish I could tune FM from the front panel, have to use remote. Even with that I would purchase again. This is my second Yamaha unit. #SWEEPSTAKES

Back in '95, I got my first Yamaha RX-V992, and loved it for years. Then, I stupidly thought any new Yamaha, with all its fancy new tech, would easily beat my 25 years old technology. Turns out, the new V6A couldn't even hold a candle near my oldRX-V992. After six months trying to get my self to like the V6A, I'm putting my old 992 back in - yes it'll blow the V6A away in a heartbeat. I guess for someone that didn't have a powerful receiver like the 992, they would think that V6A sound amazing but not for me. Now I have to start searching for a new receiver. Very very sad and disappointed with Yamaha.

I have had this unit for about 1 year now. This is my second Yamaha AV Receiver. The first was the RX-V675; worked beautifully and after 8 years is still working but I needed eArc to run some apps on my TV. I only anticipated that this RX-V6a would perform just as good. It does and is more enhanced with features my old one does not have: Dolby Atmos, 4K 8K, more HDMI inputs. I am mostly very satisfied in my choice to continue with Yamaha, just one frustrating thing: Switching from an SD channel to HD causes a delay in video on the screen; a long delay of about 30 seconds or more. I use satellite and most times I have to change the channel and then back to the desired channel before a picture will show. Also, I have a PS3, PS4, and PS5 connected to this unit and switching from HD viewing on satellite to one of those inputs causes a long delay. On each occurrence, I hear audio but no video. And then. all of a sudden, I get video, but maybe after 30 or more seconds. For the price point of this unit, that is also frustrating and somewhat lacking in the performance. One day I had to reset the receiver because after 2 minutes I still had not gotten a video signal to my TV. You might not think that 30 seconds is a long time but come home after work and want to play a game or just simply watch a TV program and you have to just sit and get steamed because your TV cannot produce one of the most simplest for which it was made: "Give you a picture!!".

I love the technologies in the unit still learning about atmos. The unit for the price is nice a little under powered which makes me wish i would of went with an aventage. I think the step up in tech compared to my old htr 5935 natural sound which pack a punch for older yamaha

Already had another Yamaha in man cave....so based on that purchased this for Living Room. Needed a model with zone 2....and prior Denon, seemed to have allot of issues with AirPlay. Which we use allot as have hottub, and out on the deck a ton in summer or any nice weather in fall/spring. The AirPlay on this is far better than was on Denon, so super happy with purchase. #SWEEPSTAKES

Not satisfied with the output for the cost. I believe Yamaha is lowered its expenditure on R&D, there is no innovation on this product. Sound Quality more or less remains the same against the RX-V657 which i brought 15 years ago. Dialogue delivery is horrible especially when streaming thru OTT channels (HD). I seriously don't know what Yamaha is doing. Other brands like Denon and Marantz are delivering better sounds. Being a loyal customer of Yamaha, i went for this RX-V6A, however my loyalty is now shaken up. May be Yamaha doesn't care anymore for its products. Worst of all is the tiny display - Yamaha what are you thinking - Please fire your product design chief or head of product design. Only Black color and no alternatives - what ?? seriously ?? While Black color is not bad, but its not preferred option for many as it doesn't blend with the living room decor. Maybe Yamaha needs to be rethink on its product design and bring innovation in in terms of Sound quality especially for Dialogue for OTT channels.

We are very happy with our purchase of this new RX-V6A AV Receiver. We like Yamaha's build quality and performance specs, and are always happy to incorporate a new Yamaha component into our systems. This RX-V6A AV Receiver looks and sounds excellent. You know what I wish, though? I wish that the inputs were better defined, or even customizable. Maybe I do not yet know how to do this, because the user's manual is 400+ pages long and I had to order it separately from Yamaha because they no longer include hard-copy manuals with their components. Another small bug is the front display. I wish it was more useful. It shows very little operating information. It could display a tiny graphic of "working speakers" (a visual representation of the speakers being used, stereo or 5.1, etc), or even just show the current time. Instead, the small front panel display seems like a wasted opportunity for user-friendly interaction. Thank you for consistently well-built and good performing components at reasonable prices. We look forward to a long and happy life with our new RX-V6A AV Receiver.

When it works its perfectly serviceable and a solid AVR for the price. The problem is it randomly stops working with my TV. Both the AVR and TV are less then a year old and both are fully updated with the newest firmware. Trouble shooting the issue is a constant hassle... No rhyme or reason why it just stops working from time to time. Hard reset doesn't work most of the time.

When I bought the Yamaha Rx-v6a, I didn't think that its stereo performance would be enough for me, my goal was just to watch movies. But when I got acquainted with the MusicCast software and the quality of Yamaha's stereo performance, I dismantled my stereo systems and started using only Yamaha. It is a very high quality device that is quite sufficient for listening to music and watching movies. I recommend it.

As usual Yamaha amplifiers are rhe best, from one of their very first amplifiers that I still have they work flawlessly, the sound quality is excellent the amplifiers are solid and stand the test of time. I have only had 2 Yamaha amplifiers before, this is the 3rd all function with superb thanks to the quality build.

Unit is fairly capable of driving a 5 speaker system with 2 subs. I wish it was a little more powerful on the surround channels but it works well in my environment. I run mine with an infinity fan. These units tend to get hot which is bad for electronics. The manual takes some getting used to and it lacks much depth in fully understanding the various functions.

Big, bulky, expensive, and buggy. Apple TV and Xbox video and audio pass through to the TV, but for some reason BluRay players don't. I have to plug my BluRay into my TV, bypassing the receiver. And occasionally the receiver stops doing what it should; turning it off and on doesn't fix the issue, but unplugging it, saying a prayer, and plugging it back in does. For the price I paid, this thing should be perfect. It's not.

The receiver works great, was easy to set up, and provides great blue tooth control through a cell phone. I have one complaint. The video stopped working. I tried everything, read the manual, verified connections, and tried to troubleshoot through the yamaha website. I happened across a forum stating this was a know glitch and it requires unplugging the system for an extended period of time and then restarting. This should be fixed or all customers should know how to fix it.

Typical of a Yamaha receiver it is loaded with features. All of the features can be a bit overwhelming to a novice. I would have given it 5 stars if there was a manual. I don't want to have to download the manual and go to my computer and search to reference anything. I want a physical manual that I can highlight and write notes in. They could have added a manual and charged $5 more and no one would know the difference. Or make that an option that I can purchase a manual direct from Yamaha.

My 1st Yamaha Receiver
By White C.
Been using Onkyo receivers for the last 20 years. With how the last one died, I wanted something sturdy, dependable, high quality in every possible respect. Use mainly along with a Panasonic DP-UB820 and polk es50, es35, es20 speakers along with a Klipsch R121sw subwoofer. Musical taste is heavily progressive rock and jazz and classical. This receiver shines in every respect. And movies are unbelievable. Better experience than when I've been at the theater. Very clean sounding. This unit does...

The RX V6A is replacing my 10 year old receiver, and I am happy I decided to go back to a Yamaha unit. I am just blown away with the quality and look of this unit.
This 7.2-channel, 100 Watt AV receiver boldly explores entertainment possibilities for an advanced home theater with the latest in video and audio, including Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, DTS:X, wireless streaming and more.

Configure up to five speakers to replicate the effect of two in-ceiling speakers, or utilize all seven channels to simulate the powerful effect of four overhead speakers.
DTS:X immersive audio formatting places sound where it would naturally occur in space, creating life-like, multi-dimensional audio. The included spatial remapping engine of DTS Neural:X offers improved immersion and heightened realism in all your favorite movies.
This unique Yamaha proprietary sound field creation technology was created by combining measured sound field data with digital signal processing. Yamaha collected sound field data from famous concert halls and music clubs around the world, utilizing its wealth of experience in the fields of concert hall design, public address and mixing. By digitizing this vast trove of information and incorporating it into dedicated LSI devices, it effectively reproduces the spaces of concert halls and music clubs in your home. Immerse yourself in the astounding realism of your movies and enter a world of profound theater sound.
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. The Yamaha Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.
HDR (high dynamic range) video provides incredible contrast, smooth tone and rich, bright colors—giving you full, high-definition enjoyment with an exceptionally realistic and natural picture quality.
HDR10+ greatly improves dynamic range (the ratio of light to dark) of video content on a scene-by-scene (or even frame-by-frame) basis. Also, using frame-by-frame metadata, it improves the scene characteristics between bright and dark so that important detail can remain. This enables displays to reproduce images more realistically, adhering to the creator's intent.
Supports end-to-end 8K/4K resolutions and higher refresh rate solutions with a single upgraded cable for seamless integration within the HDMI eco-system. 8K delivers a super-immersive viewing experience with 2x the horizontal and vertical resolution of 4K, and 4 times as many pixels; and combined with 60Hz refresh rate enables smooth and sharp viewing of content with high-speed action. 4K/120Hz enables ultra-fast motion UHD images to be crisp and razor sharp; allowing sports, action movies, high-performance gaming and VR to benefit significantly.
Enhanced media and gaming features ensure an added level of smooth and seamless motion and transitions for gaming, movies and video. They include: Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which enables the ideal latency setting to automatically be set allowing for smooth, lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity; Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) reduces or eliminates lag, stutter and frame tearing for more fluid and detailed gameplay; Quick Media Switching (QMS) for movies and video eliminates the delay that can result in blank frames before content is displayed; and Quick Frame Transport (QFT), which reduces latency for smoother, no-lag gaming and real-time interactive virtual reality.
Use your smartphone or tablet together with the MusicCast app to operate the AV receiver and change settings quickly and easily. The app offers the same functions as a remote control for all your MusicCast-compatible devices as well as full multi-room audio controls.

YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer) analyzes your room acoustics, measures speaker characteristics and adjusts unwanted reflected sounds to optimize every channel of your home theater.
