Don't buy used Gears!

I purchased a used lens from Adorama. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. After only two uses, the switch cover/panel fell off during a photoshoot and was lost. While the lens still functions, it's difficult to determine if it's in autofocus mode. This was a disappointing experience for my first purchase of a used lens.

Great Glass Overall!

Great Lens!! Sharp edge to edge, VC makes low light a breeze, and the colors are greats. Bokeh is beautiful and stopped down it's super sharp. This goes great with my SP 70-200 f2.8 G2 and my 100-400 f4.5-6.3. Love my Tamron's!! L quality glass on an enthusiasts budget!

Awesome lens

The 24-70 2.8 G2 is a great lens. Well built and love the finish on lens. It's a heavy lens because of the glass. Very sharp lens at 2.8. And like any other lens. Stop it down to 3.2 through 5.6. Razor sharp. Love the bokeh you get using this lens. This will go with my tamron 70-200 2.8 G2. Great 1-2 combo lens for everything in photography. Great product! Go buy it.

This lens practically lives on my camera

I rarely review anything until I have put it through the paces and I have put this lens through the paces for two years now. It is by far my favorite lens and is extremely versatile and tack sharp straight out of the box. I have used it for street shooting, portraits and landscape photography and found it to be an exceptional and well built lens. It has lived well through rain storms, rough and tumble outdoor photography in temps from -15°F to 100° and is still delivers razor sharp images. I have several Tamron lens and all of them have been fantastic lenses.

Tamron EF 24-70 G2 Does not Autofocus on a Canon R5c

I bought this lens primarily for video, to be used with a Canon C300 Mk III and, more recently with a Canon R5c. Pros: the lens is well made and reasonably sharp at all apertures and focal lengths, Its AF works well with the C300 Mk III. Cons: This lens will not autofocus with the new Canon R5c, making it a manual focus lens while in video mode. Tamron support has claimed that they do not test their lenses on "cine" cameras and have no intention of doing so. I would not recommend this lens to Canon R5c owners who intend to acquire video.

Great Lens

By far one of the best lens I own. I call it the canon killer because it gives somewhat the same quality.

Excellent Lens!

So far I love this lens. It's not as heavy as I thought it would be and the images are great. Very little fringe which is a huge pet peeve of mine.

I like it and use it almost daily!

Since Nikon had no new lenses available to buy, I went with Tamron, since I adore their 70-200. Very happy with it, as it performs well and is well-used!

Super sharp lens

This lens is fantastic, especially for the price. It is tack sharp, and I can see very whisker on my cats face. The focus is really on point. I have yet to use the TAP console, so I have no review on that.

Ok lens for the price, had to calibrate to make usable

Pretty good lens, would have been trash had I not used the tap in console to calibrate. Nikon lens had bad reviews, so I am happy with this for now, till I switch to Z series glass.

Great Lens!

By DENNIS C.

First let me state that I rented this lens before I purchased it. It was an amazing lens so I saved up my pennies and got a copy. The light transmission on it is amazing. I was using the Canon 24-105L f4 lens. Not only does this blow it away in sharpness it lets in so much more light. When both lens' were set to f4 and on aperture priority the camera always chose a faster shutter for this over the Canon. I also tested this with auto ISO and with both lenses set the exact same the camera alway...

An amazing lens

By Richard J.

I wanted a PRO-level upgrade from my Nikon 24-85 VR (a very good lens in its own right) and the 24-70 Tamron G2 seemed like the most affordable option. The lens arrived from Adorama this week and it is clear that Tamron has created a real winner in this competitive field. The G2 is solid and beautifully made, giving indications that it is going to last. It’s heavy of course (2 pounds) but balances nicely on my D610. Handling is excellent and it took no time at all to get used to the extra w...

Tamron 24-70mm Lens

Sophisticated Design

The use of specialized, high quality glass materials assures accurate color reproduction and superior sharpness, perfect for today’s high-pixel-density cameras. The optical construction (17 elements in 12 groups) uses 2 XR (Extra Refractive Index) elements, 3 LD (Low Dispersion) elements, 3 GM (Glass-Molded aspherical) and one hybrid aspherical lens element. Together they minimize axial chromatic aberrations, transverse chromatic aberrations, spherical aberrations and distortion, and allow a compact design that achieves superior image quality.

eBAND Coating

eBAND Coating

The new 24-70mm lens (model A032) features Tamron’s original eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating, a technology combining a nano-structured layer that has an extremely low refractive index with conventional multiple-layer coatings to provide superior anti-reflection performance. The optimal application of this eBAND Coating in combination with Tamron’s BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating successfully and substantially curbs the ghosting and flare that can occur when photographing backlit subjects.

New Dual Micro-Processing Unit Control System*

This innovative control system uses a Dual MPU design with enhanced computing capacity. The MPUs have powerful, built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) blocks that achieve quicker and more precise AF performance, and more consistently powerful Vibration Compensation. The features combine to provide outstanding performance at night and in low light.

New Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit) control system

The A032 is equipped with its own MPU (micro-processor unit), with embedded DSP (Digital Signal Processor) blocks that enable high-speed digital signal processing, achieving both excellent responsiveness to signals from the camera and high-precision AF performance.

*A new control system using two high-performance MPUs (micro-processor units)

Vibration Compensation

The new A032 is equipped with Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) system. Adding an MPU dedicated to VC processing unleashes a new-generation algorithm, ensuring the highest vibration compensation ability in the class (CIPA level of 5 stops). Even in low light or with slow shutter speeds, photographers can enjoy shake-free handheld shooting with ease and comfort.

Vibration Compensation

Moisture-Resistant Construction

The Fluorine Coating applied on the front element surface is water-and oil-repellant and allows safe and easy removal of fingerprints, dirt and smudges. The coating also provides an enhanced level of durability, and will sustain its effectiveness for years. In addition, seals are located at the lens mount area and other critical locations to prevent infiltration of moisture and/or rain drops to provide Moisture-Resistant Construction. This feature provides an additional layer of protection when shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions.

Moisture-Resistant Construction

The new A032 is compatible with the optional TAMRON TAP-in ConsoleTM, an optional accessory product that provides a USB connection to a personal computer, enabling users to easily update the lens firmware as well as customize features including fine adjustments to the AF and VC.

An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, is now employed in Nikon-mount lenses. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a built-in motor through electronic pulse signals.

Tamron 24-70mm

Tamron has enhanced the SP series lenses to fulfill high-level photographic requirements and provide the pleasure of ownership. While introducing a new exterior design, Tamron reviewed the SP series standards. The new SP series has been developed by setting rigorous standards for design, manufacturing and quality that apply to the optical design and mechanical design as well as such wide-ranging areas as the product’s robustness and improvements in a variety of individual functions. For this model, Tamron has introduced a unique MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) tester, which was developed exclusively for Model A032, and reviewed the management method. This has helped to achieve a more consistently superb optical performance, making it a lens that fulfills the demand for higher image quality that is compatible with the latest high-pixel cameras. To maximize the optical performance of the SP series, Tamron will continue to enhance the accuracy of the component parts of each lens element unit and improve the mechanical precision of the entire lens, thereby achieving a high overall performance.
