Absolutely beautiful lenses. Not only is this the cheapest way to get into anamorphic, these lenses all have a very similar look, making it easy to swap between any in the set. The lens flares are gorgeous, but also totally manageable. If you want the anamorphic look but are worried about lens flares, a simple matte box will do the trick. Light weight, similar design, though they vary in length. All in all, these do NOT feel like cheap lenses. And the quality of the image speaks to that as well.

Great ?first? anamorphic lens. Have always wanted to experiment with these, but the price was too high. This is perfect!! Quality for both build/construction and images are excellent.

It's wonderful to have a true anamorphic lens for my Sony a7III without worrying about adapters or compatibility, and paying less than $1k for it! I rarely use auto focus even with my other e-mount lenses. There's no stabilization but footage always looks better on a gimbal or rig anyway. My two slight disappointments are that there is not really any oval boke in the center of the image, and I THINK something is misaligned because the inevitable vignetting that happens with a cropped lens on a full frame sensor is actually slightly offset. So even in s35 mode, my IBIS will force some of that vignetting to pop into frame but mostly on one side. I actually like vignetting but it's odd to see it off-center like that. The only solution I've found is to increase the digital zoom on the sensor but I end up losing FOV. But to be clear, I'm not knocking it for vignetting or for being a cropped lens as I chose to buy this over the company's full frame line for cost reasons. Those two reasons are why my review isn't 5 stars, because I'm getting what I wanted out of this lens more or less, and it's beautiful!

Terrific, quite sharp lens offering the seemingly impossible anamorphic look for MFT cameras, on a budget. A great price for a lens like this.

The Sirui 50mm, F1.8 Anamorphic lens is the first prosumer, true Anamorphic lens that retails for just 700$. I’ve waited my entire career for a lens like this, In this price range, affordable enough for the low budget film makers, or for a light run and gun camera set up. If you know anything about Anamorphic lenses, you know that they are not cheap! Well. I guess now they are...But how good are they? Designed for use with APSC, Super 35 and Micro 4/3rds sensors. It delivers a 1.33x squeeze. Now, I get that some will say that this is not a true anamorphic lens - as it is an uncommon format. However when shooting on a 16X9 sensor you get a 2.4:1 ratio Which is plenty good enough for anyone wanting a CinemaScope / cinematic look. The image quality of this lens is surprisingly good. It produces a very nice clean sharp image with no aberrations. Personally i prefer a sharp lens over a softer lens, as you can simply add a filter to soften the image, to fit your liking. But not the other way around. The lens is fully manual, and fairly fast at F1.8. It’s small and lightweight. But is solidly built. You’ll notice this right away when taking it out of the box. The focus and aperture rings are buttery smooth. Though I would of liked to see a slightly larger aperture ring, and some larger bolder numbers for the stops and focus. But it’s not a major issue. I also would of opted for a wider lens in general right out of the gate, as the 50mm on a Micro 4/3rd sensor (Pocket 4K) with a 2x crop factor is in truth more like an 80mm. Which brings me to the mounts. No EF mount. Good news is Sirui has a 35mm Anamorphic lens about to drop. Which as I understand it, will ship with M4/3 and EF Mount as well as adapters. That being said. 50mm is a very common lens, so I understand why they chose it. And it’s not at all bad. But it’s not a great lens for shooting in tight spaces. The 50mm being a tight squeeze does have some work arounds. A good wide angle adapter actually works well and for the minimum focus distance of 2ft. You can pop on a cheap .2x dioptre. In fact I am having a blast using split dioptres again, as this is the perfect format for their use due to the wide 33% increased Horizontal field of view. Which also allows you to get closer to your subject, and maintaining that wide field of view that only an anamorphic lens can do! Sure you can crop a spherical lens in post. But wouldn’t you rather keep that resolution and desqueeze? It’s overall anamorphic qualities are quite pleasing. I love the oval bokeh, its not to exaggerated, but definitely shouts cinematic. The lens flares are also excellent, and have that classic blue cinematic look. But I want to touch on something real quickly, and note that the very first lenses sirui sent out for reviews had crazy flares and they were not all perfectly horizontal. This has since been fixed. So that not every single beam of light is creating wild flares off alignment. So Sirui is listening to the feedback which is great. So if you read old reviews that mention the problem with flares and their alignment. Not to worry. This is definitely a lens I would recommend in your kit. Especially if you’re shooting on the pocket 4K, or 16x9 apsc sensor cameras. The future of digital filmmaking just keeps getting more exciting and I really cant express how rad it is, all that is available to us right now for such affordable prices....It’s bonkers. It wasn’t always like this. Now we can add Affordable quality anamorphic lenses to that list of gear we always have on hand. I give this lens a 4.5 / 5 star rating. It really is an awesome lens. It’s “flaws” aren’t technically flaws but just personal preference. Great job Sirui! I can’t wait for an entire set of anamorphic lenses from this company as I will be getting everything single one. Anyone striving to achieve a cinematic look, Anamorphic is absolutely a must in order to do so.

If you love Lens Flares and want Cinematic looking videos but don't want to pay over $30,000 for a Anamorphic lens, this is for you! I added a thread for my variable filter lens, Focus and Iris Gears to get a better grip. No way to zoom in or out but in the future I'm certain they'll develop more lenses for those looking for these features. Other than that, you're in for a real treat with this lens!
