The guitar was brand new from the manufacture. However, it was in raw form. Fret work (ends, level and polish) was required. A complete setup was also required. But for the price I paid well Worth it.

This is an incredible guitar for the price! Tone is suited for higher gain. Neck feels great, fretwork is good. My new go-to for 80's shredding!

Got a great deal on this soloist so I could upgrade from my js34q archtop dinky, and man is it an upgrade. slightly better hardware, hot rails, and neck thru construction certainly make a difference, not to mention this kind of just has a sleeker look. It arrived quickly, and my suspicion as to why it was so much cheaper is that upon opening it, I noticed some minor quality defects. paint and finished being thin or non existent in some spots, that kind of thing, but nothing too noticeable and as far as I'm concerned, those don't make a difference to me at all. For the price, this guitar plays amazing and looks amazing. The setup is perfect out of the box, intonation is somehow better than any of my other guitars.

From the forefront of cutting-edge guitar technology, Jackson continues to set the standard with the X Series Soloist SL3X DX Electric Guitar in Matte Army Drab. This instrument seamlessly combines classic aesthetics with modern craftsmanship, making it a top choice for today's discerning musicians. The Soloist SL3X DX features a sleek, contoured poplar body and Jackson's renowned neck-through-body construction, offering unparalleled ergonomic comfort and exceptional sustain. This design ensures smooth playability up to the 24th jumbo fret, making it ideal for extended performances.
The maple neck is fortified with graphite-reinforcement rods, providing robust protection against environmental changes and enhancing the guitar's durability. The ultra-fast 12"-16" compound radius bound laurel fingerboard is engineered for effortless chording and riffing near the nut, while facilitating rapid, fret-out-free leads higher up the neck. This innovative design is a testament to Jackson's commitment to superior playability.
Equipped with a powerful trio of Jackson high-output humbucking bridge and Jackson double rail pickups, the SL3X DX delivers rich harmonics and dynamic responsiveness. Players can easily harness the full sonic potential of these pickups through the five-way pickup blade switching and single volume and tone controls. The recessed Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo bridge system ensures precise tuning stability, even after intense dive-bombs and flutters.
Visually striking, the X Series Soloist SL3X DX is available in a variety of finishes, including the captivating Absinthe Frost. It features Jackson's signature appointments such as black hardware, knurled dome-style control knobs, pearloid sharkfin fingerboard inlays, zebra pickup bobbins, and the iconic Jackson pointed 6-in-line black headstock.
The neck-through-body construction, a hallmark of Jackson since 1980, enhances playability and sustain by extending the neck wood through the entire body length. This construction, combined with the graphite-reinforced neck, ensures stability and resilience, making it a reliable choice for touring musicians. The 12"-16" compound radius laurel fingerboard further enhances the playing experience, offering a bright and focused tone that is perfect for both rhythm and lead guitarists.
