Not good lens for video.

It loses focus in low light situations and not suitable for vlogging.

Fast and Light lens

I bought this lens together with the Sony A6400. I like the wide aperture of f1.8 as compared to the kit lens. It works well as it is like a 50mm. Very good for portrait but for landscape, perhaps 18mm or 20mm would be better for a APSC camera.

Good lens specs for the price

Bought this lens at a discount. Good to use with good focal length and brightness. Useful and practical for my purpose with OSS. The images are sharp and clear given the price of this lens.

Portraits Excellent, Travel Eh

Very nice lens for taking portraits (even in low light) on cropped sensor camera. But may not be best travel lens as subject comes in tight with little background on display.

Pin sharp.

I have the Sony A6000, I purchased this with the kit lens, I then purchased the Sony18-135, but wanted a prime lens, after watching all the reviews on YouTube, I settled on the 35mm 1.8 lens, and have not regretted it whatsoever, I take the camera with me whilst walking, and have taken some fantastic photos, plus I keep it in the front of my coat, to protect it from cold, and the size is very handy as well, love it.

Nice Lens, Great Accessories

Lens is best bang for the buck for a nice upgrade to the a6400 kit lens. Mostly shooting portraits. The lens kit that Adorama includes is top notch. Really nice quality brands. Other companies include cheap stuff you just throw away, but I'm using everything that came with it.

The Sony E 35mm F1.8 OSS lens offers a bright aperture and standard angle of view for capturing sharp images with a shallow depth of field.

Excellent Tiny 35mm for DX

For its diminutive size it is an excellent f/1.8 prime. We use this to take quick autofocus shots and works well outdoors with CPL or ND8 wide open. But when Sony autofocus gets confused or we want critical subject focus we switch to full manual focus. OSS helps in low light to drop ISO and to stabilize videos. Did compare image quality directly to our Nikon 50mm f/1.4 on Nikon FX body and the tiny 35mm f/1.8 held its own. Definitely would recommend this lens for Sony DX. But to get truly beautiful images put on Nikon FX glass and manually focus. We use the Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 for standard portraits and 85mm f/1.4 for mega bokeh portraits. With these specific FX focal lengths on DX - the images pop.

Save some money. Buy this over the Zeiss 24/1.8

By Dil950

Previously I was using the Sony Zeiss 24/1.8 as my main lens on the NEX-5N. I liked it a lot but always wondered if it really was worth $1100. About a month ago, I bought a M-Mount Zeiss lens and realized the 24/1.8 didn't seem like it was worth the money anymore. I played around with other M-mount lenses but missed having AF. Eventually I bought the Sony 35mm/1.8. I wasn't expecting much from the 35/1.8 (especially since it was a pure sony design) I was blown away by how wrong I was. If you ...

This lens is GLUED on to my a6000

By andrew714oc

Awesome lens and a huge upgrade from the standard 16-50mm kit lens that comes with the a6000. Being a prime you can't zoom in but the amount of light this thing is able to get fr that wide f1.8 aperture is insane! Again, comparing this to the kit lens, it's like night and day. Kit at 35mm is f5.6 vs f1.8. That alone is a huge difference. Very sharp as well, great color rendition and looks and feels great - doesn't matter parts of it are plastic, it's good quality. Also with the optical steady...

Your “backup” lens should be as good as a primary lens, but also ready to handle anything, from a live event to the quick shots any photographer might need in a jiffy. The SONY 35MM F/1.8 OSS E MOUNT LENS fits the bill as a “renaissance lens,” in a manner of speaking, thanks to versatility and a ton of features:

Product Highlights

  • Compact and lightweight, as any good “second lens” should be, but not without sacrificing performance, thanks to a F1.8 aperture and 35mm equivalency focal length of 52.5mm.
  • The autofocus is beautiful, of course, and what else do you expect from Sony? But even better is the fact that you can switch to manual focus with the Sony 35mm and hold every picture to your professional standards.
  • Subtle background blurring is a must-have for many occasions, from wedding receptions to portraits. The round aperture of the Sony 35mm delivers a stunning background blur that doesn’t distract from the frame.

Add the Sony 35mm to your toolbox of lenses and you’ll never feel unprepared for a gig again.

Learn about the SONY 35MM F/1.8 OSS E MOUNT LENS

It’s on. The wedding reception is in full swing, people are having the first of their many drinks, and the DJ just played one of those Top-40 songs that means the party is ready to go all night. And where are you, the amateur or even the professional photographer? Worried about finding a lens. We here at Adorama don’t want you panicking and driving home to find another lens; we want you to arm yourself with the perfect “second lens,” capable of being carried around to any gig when you need to capture the action. But don’t think of the SONY 35MM F/1.8 OSS E MOUNT LENS as a mere backup—no. It’s versatile and powerful enough to serve as a second lens when your first simply won’t suffice. So have a glass of champagne and sit down with us as we discuss all the use you can get out of your Sony 35mm lens.

  • Aperture, aperture, aperture. In real estate, it might be “location, location, location,” but in photography, there are few things more important than aperture. A good aperture allows you to grab plenty of light, constructing beautiful shots even in low-lighting situations. The night shots with the Sony 35mm are of stunning quality, which means that even if your next gig is in a dimly-lit ballroom, you’ll still be able to take all of the beautiful images that are quite literally dancing all around you.
  • Multipurpose is an apt word for the Sony 35mm, thanks to its focal length of 52.5mm(35mm equivalency), making it appropriate for an entire range of shots, from portraits and night shots to quick snapshots of the bridal party. You wondered why we call this lens versatile? Because the Sony 35mm is capable of acting as your emergency lens no matter what your primary lens was accomplishing.
  • Crisp, clean images. You might have the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to thank for that, as well as the F1.8 aperture, but you’d be surprised at just how crisp images turn out even after we told you all about these features. Why? Because the Sony 35mm is nothing if not an overachiever, providing you with crisp and professional photos, even when you’re in a pinch.
  • Smooth and silent autofocus is a must-have for any lens, and this e-Mount lens f/1.8 is no different. No different in the sense that it provides the quiet, effective autofocus you’ve come to expect from Sony lenses—and if you’re working a live event, you can’t have your autofocus getting in the way of beautiful moments.
  • Background blur. Is there any effect better than the background blur? An effective background blur gives a lot of contrast to your subjects in the foreground, not robbing from the image but instead enhancing it until it’s something fresh and exciting—and far more professional than any amateur point-and-shoot can hope to imitate. The Sony 35mm achieves this background blur in spectacular fashion thanks to the—what else?—aperture, which is circular and designed precisely for these kinds of shots.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more versatile, able lens here at Adorama than the SONY 35MM F/1.8 OSS E MOUNT LENS. Which is to say: why keep looking?

It's time to elevate your photography game with the Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS E Mount Lens. This versatile lens is designed to deliver stunningly sharp and vibrant images, whether you're capturing the energy of a bustling wedding or the tranquility of a serene landscape.

The Sony 35mm lens is equipped with a responsive autofocus and a minimum focus distance of 11.8", allowing for quick transitions between shots. This makes it an ideal companion for both amateur photographers looking to hone their skills and seasoned professionals seeking a reliable backup lens.

Experience the power of a robust f/1.8 aperture, which ensures superior low-light captures. Whether you're shooting in a dimly lit hall or under the stars, radiant shots are always within reach.

This lens doesn't limit itself to one type of photography. Its 52.5mm focal length (35mm equivalency) opens up a world of possibilities, from candid snapshots and profound portraits to atmospheric night scenes.

Say goodbye to blurred images with the Optical SteadyShot image stabilization feature. Every frame you capture will be a testament to clarity and professionalism.

The Sony 35mm lens also integrates an extra-low dispersion glass element, dramatically reducing chromatic aberrations and color fringing. This ensures color fidelity, crystal-clear images, and a neutrality that sets it apart from other lenses.

Capture the essence of every moment with the lens's silent autofocus, eliminating the distracting sound of lens adjustments.

Enhance your shots with the ethereal beauty of background blur. The Sony 35mm lens, designed with a circular aperture, crafts this effect to perfection, adding depth and drama to your images.

Thanks to a meticulously designed rounded seven-blade diaphragm, your photos will exhibit a dreamy, soft-focus background, or bokeh effect, making your main subject truly shine.

The lens also incorporates two aspherical elements, eliminating common issues like astigmatism, field curvature, and coma. This results in monochromatic aberrations becoming a thing of the past, and every corner of your image, from center to edge, showcasing impeccable clarity and precision.

The Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS E Mount Lens is more than just another addition to your photography kit. It's an investment in quality, versatility, and unmatched performance. With this lens, you can elevate every shot, capture every moment, and let your photography narrate stories like never before.
