My Favorite

Fantastic B&W camera. the 28mm Leica lens works beautifully in my portrait as well as landscape work. Macro capability functions successfully also. I love everything about my M11 but my Leica Q2M is still my favorite.

Totally unlike nothing

This ghost edition is very well made and so beautiful, the pictures are so maxing and the menu system is very easy. Coming from a canon user this camera delivers nothing but perfection. Thinking of selling all my canon rf gear and getting fully into the Lecia system.

My favorite point and shoot!

Terrific point and shoot with excellent JPEG rendering. Earlier versions of the firmware had issues with slow AF, this has been corrected in later versions.

Very nice camera.

Beautiful camera! All works well and as expected. The kit deal was the clincher for me as the battery is so expensive. Very happy with the deal.

If I could only have one camera

It takes me back to when I shot black-and-white film on my Leica M2 in the 70s with all the modern conveniences. Stunning low-light performance, fantastic dynamic range, and the ruggedness of a tank with the nimbleness of a Ferrari. Ignoring color and focusing on contrast, structure, and lighting is liberating. If you love black-and-white-only photography in a stealth package, you will love this camera. If you have to have color and want to give up some low-light performance and sharpness, then the Q2 is a better choice.

Traditional Q2 to Q2 Reporter

Even though it?s the ?same? camera as the classic Q2, I think the experience is so much better. The metal parts of the camera aren?t slick, but have a matte texture that helps with grip. The color is amazing, and I love that it doesn?t incorporate branding that screams ?I?m expensive?.

The best camera your money can buy. Nothing comes close, perfect in every way 100% +.

This Leica Q2 monochrome camera Is the finest piece on photographic equipment that I have ever owned. ?Nothing comes close? so end your research. If you are interested in fine art large photographic printed material your search is over. If you are serious about your photography, look no further. This is heaven on earth. We also have the Q2, and both cameras have changed the photographic industry forever. Just purchases one and you will see for yourself. UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE.

Leica. The cameras and lenses are world class. Only for the few that demand stellar image quality.

I?m an old school photographer. I started photography using a 4x5 view camera. Learning to develop my images in the dark room was major factor for my love of photography today. Leica camera?s have always been on the want list. I finally made the leap and ordered the Leica Q-2 used from Adorama. This camera is absolutely amazing. Brings me back to my Hasselblad day's with film. If you are a photographic enthusiast, and love photographic fine art. This is the camera that will bring you back to excellent images. Thanks to Adorama and the excellent customer care in the purchasing of this photographic instrument.

The Q2 Inspires Me to Take Better Photographs

The purchase of a Q2 was certainly not justified considering my somewhat limited skills as a photographer, but boy-oh-boy, am I glad I decided to spring for this camera. The Q2 is a beauty, a pleasure to handle, dead simple and intuitive to operate, and the image quality is just amazing. I?m shooting photos that make me proud. The 28mm Sumilux lens is a wonder and paired with the 47 megapixel sensor makes it possible to crop with no loss of image quality ? a major boon for someone like me, who doesn?t always frame a scene very well before releasing the shutter. They say your equipment won?t make you a better photographer, but in the case of the Q2, I?m not so sure. I know I?m taking better photos. But perhaps that stems from the enjoyment of using this superb camera. I am inspired by and delighted with the Q2.

Pricey But It Is A Leica

Great ergonomics, light and sharp looking!! The image quilty (RAW) is supierior to the Fuji X-100V, with pristine images and Leica build quality. The 47MP sensor coupled with 28MM Summilix lens really does not disapoint and the macro capabilty exceeds expecations...

Keep a grip on the Q2.

Gotta have the handgrip for your Q2. I love carrying it in hand with a Thumbgrip and the loop without a neck strap when I'm running and gunning.

Q2 MONOCHROM

I truly enjoy black and white imaging. The Q2 Monochrom does everything in the Leica fashion, perfectly! I am not going to go into specs as they are easily found online. The camera is rock solid and purely a joy to work with. Leica's are pricey, but you get more in return. For what the Q2 Monochrom does, there is no better.

A new era in photography for me

I guess it has been a month now. I have been through several camera brands and each has been better than the previous. But the move to this Leica was a leap! I would always desaturate my images as a black and white photographer. But nothing I did is even close to the smooth detail of a RAW from this jewel-like camera. I can endlessly play in the shadows. I can bring the sky down into zones I could only achieve in the darkroom previously. And I can crop out several images from one photo. Is the fixed 28mm lens a limitation? No. Are the automatic modes usable? In almost every setting. Is the manual mode intuitive? Dead simple. And as a first for me, the link between an App and the camera works every time without some kinda problem solving. I have yet to use it in a truly dark environment. When I zoom to single pixels, the ones surrounding them are tidy and sensible gradations. Nothing jumpy or jpeggy at 1600 ISO. I am imagining good performance in low light. Oddly, i have been taken by the 4k video. I can snatch really good frames. And the stabilization is just right. I have another video camera where dual stabilization is active. As I pan the video jerks. This Leica seems to leave a natural amount of handheld movement that has more of a human touch on the scene. Really enjoying this camera. And so glad it does not have a tilt/swivel screen. I Can?t think of the last time a photo taken from ground level made me any money. Just be tall and take your photo. @mleysens

So far I am really excited with the performance of this camera. I have not had it too long but the pictures I have made have been outstanding. I would say it was worth the back-order wait time!

Expensive but worth the money.

The camera is built like a Leica should be. Very intuitive and minimalistic control buttons. The lens is razor sharp and the color rendition is spot on. I also purchased the Leica leather holster that makes a huge difference when walking around the city or the Jersey Shore and having the camera readily available for a quick shot. Expensive but worth the money. Highly recommend it.

Leica Q2: quality, versatile, intuitive.

This camera exceeded my expectations. It is the first Leica camera that is simple and intuitive which anyone can easily use. It has a fantastic fast lens and can well do auto focus, manual focus and macro. It makes the Leica M10 seem old and the Leica SL seem unnecessarily large. Think of it as a grown up Fuji X100 series. It's your "go to" camera. Primarily, I use it in the 35mm crop mode that provides 30MP resolution which is plenty. Even at 50mm crop you get a nice 15MP photograph. In its native 28mm mode, 47MP is more than I need. I have read reviews that the Leica Q2 JPEGS were flat. I didn't find this to be the case. To me as a street shooter; Fuji does the best people color JPEGS, Sony is unrealistically bright and Leica is understated almost like they are trying to give a film feeling. But for all of them, why use this level camera if you don't shoot RAW? Q2 RAW to me is excellent. Of course the build quality is impeccable and the feel is true Leica. When Leica makes the big modern jump to the "M EVF", I hope it feels like an interchangeable lens version of this camera. I would definately recommend this camera especially to anyone who does travel, street or family photography.

Best in its class.

My "go to" camera has been my Canon 5D Mark III. I travel and hike and have sought a small, relatively light and weather resistant camera that takes the quality of pictures of my Canon with my L lenses. The Q2 works for me for this purpose. In post, using lightroom, having 47 megapixels to play with gives me more control over my edits. Detail, tone curve, and basic adjustments come to life, not to mention the quality of detail in my crops. The pixels in Q2 photos give me a "like I am there" quality I don't get with my Canon. I consider this camera the best option for my circumstance, and I feel confident that it will give me the best renditions of the subjects I photograph for a camera in this class.

Leica Q The best 35 mm camera I have owned. It's more of a finely engineered instruent than a camera. The qulity if images from the sumilux lens in astonishing.

Lives Up To Its High Expectations

After using this camera in a variety of situations over the past month, it lives up to its high expectations. The Q2 is remarkably fast, both it’s focus and shutter. It’s shutter is nearly silent, so it is very discrete in any setting. The image quality is amazing. The menu is very intuitive, and a lot is packed into a clean, simple design. It is also a nice size: not too big and not too small (I added the leather case protector to mine, just because it like the feel of the extra grip it gives to the camera). I am still learning some of the ins and outs of the camera, but I know it is a great addition to the bag.

About Leica Q2 Compact Digital Camera

FEATURED REVIEWS

Perfect for me.

By ROBERT B.

I've used it a few times, it's fantastic for my needs. Decided to quit chasing the latest/greatest camera/lens combo. My left hand is getting unable to hold the cameras & lenses I would like to use. So, this is a very nice compliment to my wants/expectations/limitations. And it's weathered sealed, another plus for me.

Exceptionally Happy

By Darrell C.

At just over 1000 images in to my experience with this camera, I’m already more than happy I bought it; “delighted” comes close. I bought my last camera - the original Fuji X100 - in early 2012, and grew to be so comfortable with it that I thought I’d keep it forever. That made me fear buyer’s remorse with this Q2 but nope, I honestly already love the Leica. One of the things I love most is the very wide field of view that the 28mm lens delivers. I find myself standing where I would have ...

Leica Announces the Q2: a 47MP Camera With a New Full-Frame Sensor & Built-In Summilux 28mm F/1.7 Lens

Leica has just announced a successor to the popular and user-favorite Leica Q. Aptly named the Leica Q2, the new camera features a hefty sensor, a new processor, a weather-sealed build, and is designed to capture a variety of settings in any location with ease.

Leica Q2 - Every great story deserves a sequel

The Leica Q2 features a brand new 47.3 megapixel full frame sensor, integrated weather sealing throughout the body and built-in Summilux 28 mm f/1.7 lens, a brand new electronic viewfinder, lightning-fast autofocus and burst shooting, 4K video, a revised button layout and refined design.

q2

New Sensor With 95% More Resolution Than Its Predecessor

The Leica Q2's newly developed 47.3 megapixel full frame sensor boasts the highest resolution in its class. Matched with the high resolving power of its built-in Summilux lens, the Leica Q2 goes beyond the conventional use-cases of a 28 mm focal length via its built-in crop functions for equivalent focal lengths of 35 mm, 50 mm, and the newly available 75 mm –bringing with it more possibilities in the world of portraiture and close-up work. This new sensor
maintains a 30 MP image when cropped to a 35 mm
equivalent frame, even more than the original Leica Q's maximum of 24 MP at 28 mm. When shooting cropped DNG files the full sensor image is still recorded, allowing the user to undo or change the crop during postprocessing. These newfound heights of resolution and flexibility, combined with high ISO performance and a fast aperture make the Leica Q2 the perfect companion for all areas of street, architectural, landscape, travel, documentary, reportage and even portrait photography.

Weather Sealing And Improved Battery Life

The Leica Q2's IP52-certified weather sealing protects
the camera from dust, rain and water spray and ensures users can photograph under challenging
environmental conditions. The adoption of the BPSCL4
battery from the Leica SL boosts battery life by
30% over the original Leica Q, and its built-in rubber
gasket further helps seal the Q2. This level of
weather-sealing is usually reserved for pro-level
cameras such as the Leica SL and Leica S, putting
the Q2 at that similar level of resilience, and is
especially helpful under challenging environmental
conditions.

New OLED High-Resolution EVF

The Leica Q2 features a newly developed highresolution OLED viewfinder, which offers a lag-free
high refresh rate and faster auto-switching between the rear display and EVF. The high resolution of 3.68
megapixels in the viewfinder provides the clearest vision of the user’s composition to perfectly and
accurately frame subjects. OLED panels, known today
for being utilized in the highest quality smartphone and TV screens on the market, are superior to LCDs as
they control each pixel’s brightness independently –
this yields a better color depth and quality for a more
pleasing experience every time the camera is raised to
the user’s eye.

New OLED High-Resolution EVF

Speed Speed Speed + 4K Video

The autofocus system of the Leica Q2 focuses sharply
on the subject within milliseconds, making it one of the fastest cameras in its class. Improvements to its new processor from the Maestro II family have enabled a high continuous burst shooting rate with an impressive 10 frames per second from the mechanical shutter, even at maximum resolution. The Leica Q2 adds 4K UHD and Cine4K video recording to its arsenal of features, with frame rate options across 4K and 1080p. In combination with the Leica FOTOS App, the camera’s integrated Wi-Fi module makes it possible to quickly and easily share pictures and video via social media, and thanks to Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) a permanent connection can be established between camera and smartphone. Now users can even remotely wake the camera and connect any time when in range.

Speed Speed Speed + 4K Video

Refined Design And Improved Handling

The design of the Leica Q carries forward the Leica tradition of reduction to the essentials. The ‘Made in Germany’ seal of quality guarantees that only the finest and most resilient materials are employed in its construction. The distinctive thumb rest of the new Leica Q2 and the sophisticated diamond pattern of its leather trim ensure optimum grip and highlight the symbiosis of function and form. Also new is the camera’s uniquely intuitive handling concept, following refined design language cues established from its brethren in the Leica M10 and Leica CL families – such as the single-stage On/Off switch, simplified three-button interface on the rear of the camera and programmable button within the thumb wheel dial. A new highlight of the Leica Q2 layout is the push-button diopter compensation dial on the back of the camera that locks and prevents inadvertent changes to the user’s desired setting. Every refinement, both large and small, pushes Leica’s design forward without losing sight of the core philosophy of the camera.

Refined Design And Improved Handling

New Accessories

A comprehensive range of optional accessories is also available for the Leica Q2. These include matching camera protector cases and carrying straps in premium-quality classic black and brown leather, and more vibrant versions in red and pink. The elegant new ‘Ettas’ line of soft, coated canvas pouches for various Leica camera models will also be launched at the same time as the Leica Q2. The pouches will initially be available in midnight blue, stone gray and red colorways, with more still to come. The accessory selection also includes technical equipment for the Leica Q2 such as the Leica SF 40, SF 60 flash units, the SF C1 remote flash control unit and an additional add-on thumb rest and handgrip. All accessories are functionally designed for easy handling, perfectly matching the quality and design of the camera and are manufactured from only the finest materials to ensure reliability for a lifetime of use.
