Use this with my Vanguard 263AT tripod. Perfect match. Never had a good tripod/head before. This head is magnificent and couldn't work better.

Great rig for micro four/thirds which are lighter and smaller than most dslr set ups. The spirit levels are a great aid to make sure eveything is lined up just right. I returned it to get a smaller ballhead to fit the plate from my Peak Design Capture camera clip system. Vanguard stiil provides a great value for the money.

For the price it is a decent tripod head. The weight is the only issue.

A very good ballhead. It is rated for 22 lbs and it will hold by Canon 60D with a 100-400 lens with no problem. It doesn't tip down like other tripods I've had in the past. A great ballhead for the vangard Alta pro263AT tripod.

I have not actually used this product much as I just put it on my tripod a week ago. However it appears to be well made. The only thing I do not like about it so far is having to have a coin handy toattach to the camera since it has a slotted screw head attachment bolt.

Great ball head for price. Small and very strong. Used with Canon 7D, 24-70mm f2.8, and battery grip. Held in place. Very happy with purchase. Only thing is you have to really crank on controls tight to make sure its held in place, other than that this works perfectly for my needs.

This is a great head at a very modest price. I paired with this with a Slick Carbon Monopod. I was not sure that a ball head was really needed with a monopod but I am very glad I made this pairing. The head has great motion and most importantly, I feel that my camera is very secure on the mount. I have locked the camer into several tilted positions and feel my camera is very safe. I like the quick mount with the safty latch and the ability to tighted it down on the camera after mounting. This head is a perfect sized ball-head for a monopod but might be considered a bit small on a tripod. I do, however, intend on using it on my tripod as well.

The Vanguard SBH-100 Ballhead works quite well and had a reasonable price for it's features. The quick release is a nice feature but having only one DSLR means that I really have little use for this feature. The device that attaches to the camera kind of gets in the way when hand holding the camera. Certainly, I can remove it when I don't need it but I could just attach the camera to the ball head with a mounting screw like I used to with my old Slick tripod and it would probably take less time. The bubble levels are nice as well but being able to take a level picture without them has never been a problem for me. I've been using the Vanguard ballhead on a new Giottos tripod and it fits very securely. [...]

I find the large knob control for moving the ball in the head to be stiff, and unreliable in it's final tightening. The camera actually moves a fraction down after the knob is tightened, causing one to have to either untighten it and start over or try to compensate for the amount of movement that takes place after the darn thing is tightened. VERY FRUSTRATING. However, the ball DOES move nicely if the control know is FULLY loosened and it has a large range of motion. If you're willing to put up with what I consider a time consuming and impractical tightening situation, go for it.

The SBH-100 Ball Head is a very good value for the money. It is light weight and easy to use and strong enough too hold my largest lens (170-500 zoom). There are only two things that irritate. One is minor, the other not so. The minor irritation is that I need a tool, (quarter) to screw the mount to the lens/camera. The other item is that upon initially tightening the pivot clamp, the head rotates slightly causing a few positional re-adjustments. Neither of the above irritations would stop me from buying another or recommending the unit to friend. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product.

The ball head is very impressive feeling in it's weight and build quality, you feel like you got what you paid for and more. The ball head has all the adjustments you might want including a separate panning knob which most don't seem to have until you get into the more expensive heads. I love how quick you can adjust the camera leaving it slightly snug vs. my old pan tilt lever type head which was a pain in the you know what to adjust.

Replaced a light weight Velbon unit when I got a heavier camera. Use mostly with Panofix bracket for taking panoramas. Very smooth operation. Independent lock on azimuth is an important feature missing on many more expensive units.

This ballhead is a very good buy for the money. Only problem is action when you are trying for that last mm of position is not smooth.

Vanguard SBH-100 Ballhead with Quick Release is an excellent ballhead for the value. Comes with two quick release plates(1/4" & 3/8"). Great overall workmanship and packaging for the price with two levelers. I found it far superior to the Smith Victor BH5 ballhead (stay away) which is the worst piece of workmanship I've encountered. I'm very satisfied with the Vanguard product, does a great job for what I need to do.

Unit is solid. Holds my D90 with my Sigma 50-150mm lens. No buyers remorse.

I got this to go with the Vanguard Alta Pro 283CT. Even though it doesn't have a recommendation for this combination on the Adorama web site. I saw it at the store and it looked perfect. I liked that it includes 2 spirit levels. Plus the price is reasonable.

This was my first ball head. Matched it with a Giotto's MTL9360B tripod. I was weary at first to buy something at such a low cost. You know what they say, "You get what you pay for." Well, luckily for me, you get a great ball head for the money. The action is very smooth. The pan feature is very smooth with just enough resistance. The clamp is very strong and I don't have any problems with sag when clamping down my D90 with battery pack and 70-200mm lens. The main clamp knob is used for clamping and the tension. You don't get 2 knobs for that, but hey, you get what you pay for. The head comes with both a 1/4" and 3/8" to accommodate different tripod configurations. The quick release mechanism is very smooth. It has button release as well as a clamp to prevent any shaking. Adorama's description about the quick release shoe is wrong. You get 2 plates. You get a QS-39 mounting plate (which is 1/4") and a QS-40 mounting plate (which is 3/8"). I only give it 4 stars because of 2 small things. First, The rubber grips aren't mounted solidly to the metal knobs and they shift and bunch sometimes. They haven't ripped or anything, but I do question its durability. Second, I can't find additional QS-39 plates anywhere! Adorama doesn't carry them and Vanguard doesn't sell them directly on their online store.
