Works great but your software must be up to date. El Capitan 10.11.5 works with Ultrascope 1.8.3. The Pocket UltraScope will update to new firmware when you plug in an SDI source to your Pocket Scope and a USB 3.0 from Pocket scope to your Mac. I use a Retina MacBook Pro (2013) and the Scope looks stunning. I use a Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K and a BM Production Camera 4K (thunderbolt to Laptop) UltraScope works very well. Can't say it always was that way in the past but now BM seems to have their act together with this now.

Get all the incredible features of UltraScope on your laptop! The Blackmagic Design Pocket UltraScope is designed for editors and colorists. This Pocket UltraScope includes the same fantastic UltraScope software combined with a miniature pod that converts 3 Gb/s SDI to the computer's USB 3.0 connection.
Pocket UltraScope simply plugs in and is accurate and portable, so you can bring UltraScope to the most remote locations. Pocket UltraScope automatically detects between SD, HD and 3Gb/s HD-SDI video standards and is powered from the laptop battery via the USB 3.0 port so you don't need a power source when on location!
