Review Summary

This lens is extremely sharp even wide open with very pleasing colors. It is pro-grade and has a very useful focal length zoom. Focus is fast, especially with the E-5. It is best on DSLR, as it is slow to focus on micro fourthirds cameras. It can be used with the teleconverters 1.4x or 2x and still maintain sharpness. It is rated one of the best telephoto zooms on the market. Great for portraits as well as for nature photography.

This lens has enabled me to get countless great shots of people and animals. On my Olympus E-3 it balances nicely and gets me right on top of my subject. I have used it extensively at concerts and it has given me close-ups of musicians even when I wasn't on the front row. To be able to be back near the soundboard but shoot like I was up close is amazing. Great lens.

I was a little nervous in that I traded a bunch of equipment as partial payment for the lens. Adorama did what they said they would do and the transaction went off without a hitch!

Another great lens from Olympus! I have used this lens to get some great wildlife shots and have been very pleased with the results. Yes it is a little heave compared to a kit lens, but that is the payoff for the tremendous build quality and excellent optical performance. A must for any keen wildlife photographer with a 4/3 setup.

As an Olympus user of the E3, E620 and E510, this lens is extremely sharp and versatile. I take lots of pictures of butterflies, birds, and wildlife as well as street shots. The range of focal length allows for a variety of uses. In conjunction with the 1.4 multiplier, it makes my compliment of Zuiko and Sigma lenses complete.

Bought this lens as an upgrade for my E-510 kit lenses. Have had this lens for only a few weeks but so far i am satisfied with its performance. At times it focuses kinda slow in low light even with flash assist. I have only experienced this in my home with weak lighting and the in-camera flash. Performance is outstanding capturing action outdoors in good light as well as birdwatching. Lens is heavy but im kind of a big burly guy so its not a big problem for me. it may be a problem for some folks. All in all its a good lens and performance as well as image quality is an improvement over the e-510 kit lenses.

A recent acquisition, thus not much experience so far with it, yet whenever I used it, the results were excellent; good for birds, also stealing a portrait of an interesting face from a distance; I shall wait for more light in the now gloomy Poland until I shall have more to say about it

I was hesitant to spend the money. But boy was it worth it. I have no buyer remorse, I have never been more happy with a purchase like this. I've used it at several Minor League baseball games and a my nephews soccer games. This lens is wonderful and am very happy with the 3/4 system of Olympus Lenses.

This lens only needs the 1.4X Converter for really upclose Nature Photos.

I like this the results I get from this lens. The only drawback is that it is a bit heavy for me. I use it with a tripod most often!

I really enjoy the 2.8 aperture but the weight is heavier than I expected. After a couple of hours hiking in Costa Rica, I was beat from lugging the lens around. Since this purchase, I have tried lenses of the same zoom and fstop from other mfrs that are much lighter.
