Great Images, TERRIBLE Instructions

Love the images, but so far as I can tell the camera does not Bluetooth pair with IEM for geotagging.

Great Camera with Outstanding Sony Quality

I purchased this camera about 1 year ago and have been using it since. In December of last year, our family went to Italy for 2 weeks and I used the camera extensively. I really like the wide angle to telephoto range (24-200mm). I got some great photos and have posted to the photography forum I use online. Many compliments. I highly recommend this camera.

It's the best compact you can buy

I bought a Sony ZV-1 a few years ago but wished I had just saved a little more and bought the RX100VII. After selling the ZV-1, I waited a while as I thought Sony would release a RX100 MK8 but it looks like that isn't happening anytime soon. Just get the MK7 and know you have the best.

Misleading warranty info

In the Sonry camera RX-100 M7 box, there's a paper says that if we register, it will extend the product warranty from 1 year to 2 years, but after I registered the camera, the warranty webpage still shows only 1 year warranty, so apparently the paper in the product box lied to us. Sony needs to fix this, otherwise your reputation is going to be very bad in lying to customers!

Great camera, just what I was looking for

Although it is expensive, it is well worth it. Bought the pocket camera as wanted DLSR type quality in a small compact size. Great for travelling and less obtrusive than the larger cameras.

lovely little pocket camera

lovely little pocket camera delivering good quality photos. I mainly use it for photos when on holiday. There to many compacts for just blogging!!! Some of us just want to take good quality photos so this camera is a god send for photos. I did try a quick video but it took me a while to fing the folder with the video, thats why I gave it a 4 star review, all my other cameras have put the videos in the same folder as images.

Very sharp picture quality

This camera is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand but I'd very powerful abd responsive. It takes a while or perhaps a lifetime to learn all the functions but most are self explanatory.

it is perfect for a compacy camera but

it is nice camera for keeping it inside your backpack or in your small handbag and take photos when ever you want build quality is also nice photos and videos nice but sony not support your a thousand dolar camera with softwares. pc and smartphone applications are from 2010 and you feel like a second hand camera from decade ago.

Sony RX 100 VII

I bought the RX100 M7 a month ago and it was my second choice as I was hoping to purchase a compact LUMIX camera with the 360mm zoom. As it was discontinued, the Sony was my next available option. I am so pleased with this compact and a recent trip to Spain allowed me to test its functions and picture quality. I am still very much a novice on its menu and all functions, but have downloaded a couple of manuals and watched a few YouTube videos on its operation. I would say there is a steep learning curve for this compact camera, however It has been well worth the time and patience to get to grips with all its various shooting modes. The analogue zoom can be extended with a "digitall extension" in camera software menu. Resolution suffers at the end of this zoom range but that is to be expected. Overall I am very pleased with the picture quality, raw and jpeg and video. The camera footprint is small but feels heavy and well made. I would recommend this camera if you want a compact zoom and video camera option for travel.

no picture taken when shuttle pressed

I have used once so far and realized sometimes no picture was taken when the shuttle was pressed. When it happened, I kept pressing for many times and picture only captured after a while. This was not a good experience because I take photos at the site that is extremely hot and need to take photos fast and this experience slowed me down.

I really wish I hadn't bought this

I'm an experienced amateur photographer, having used a camera for about 65 years. I decided to buy this camera as I was no longer wanting to lug around a DSLR & lenses and wanted to upgrade my Panasonic Lumix. I'm not stupid but the menu system for setting up the camera is appalling. No built in geosync, and even though I have set up IME and linked the camera no location data is recorded. The pictures are not of a good quality. Close ups focus OK but every landscape picture I have taken is out of focus. Please do not waste your money. Too late for me to get a refund, but so wish I hadn't perservered in vain and requested a refund within the allowed timescale.

Initial problems

My first RX100ll was not able to get beyond the initial info of place and time. Whenever I restarted the camera it would come back blank, asking for the info again. Time after time. I returned it as defective and B+H sent me a new one. This second one, after about a month of use, also became defective. It kept shutting down. Returned. The third RX100Vll had the same problem as the first, but, by then, I realized that I might later chance the initial info, so I did....by redoing the initial info from that place. Somehow that method of doing the info worked...the info did not keep coming back. I assume all is well now, except that I am not impressed at all with the making of this camera..

Compact quality and versatility

I bought this camera as an upgrade to my original RX100 and the M7 has all of those characteristics that made that camera so good and a ton of very valuable additional features consistent with such an evolved line of cameras. Anyone who shares my love of small, dense Japanese product design will be happy with the hardware. Subtly curved surfaces and tiny details, positive button feel, precise screen articulation and a smooth lens ring. All of the tiny slack that was present here and there on the M1 are banished on the M7. One small gripe is directed at the covers to the ports. Stiff, nail-breaking flaps that resolutely want to spring back, blocking access to the sockets. They are loosening up a bit but some proper hinged flaps would have been nice. Displays are good and the tiny viewfinder is terrific for framing in bright light. The articulation of the screen is so helpful for composing shots at odd angles, a feature that I use a great deal. These two make the M7 a much more versatile tool than most. The zoom range is just what I want from a compact travel camera, especially at the long end, and lens quality is what I would expect from Zeiss. Picture quality is excellent across the zoom range with only slight distortions at the extremes. Noise is well controlled and easy to eliminate using the current AI tools. You can have a great deal of control in the setup if you need it and I found a good set of assignments that make managing the camera comfortable and convenient. Overall a very satisfying camera to use that returns detailed and attractively rendered images in all conditions, and is a pleasure to own. While I have other, more capable Sony cameras, I can see from my own results that the RX100-M7 goes a long way to being the only camera a lot of people will ever need.

Lovely little camera

I wanted a camera small enough to take with me in my pocket but which would give good quality imagse. I'm pleased with the quality I've managed to get, even in the dull light we've had for the last few weeks. The 'expose for highlights' setting has proved particularly useful, although of course the images then need some post-processing to bring the shadows up. Impressive amount of detail in th eimages with or without zoom. I had a quick look at a video online before I visited the shop to have a look at the camera - it's pretty intuitive but I hadn't owned a Sony before. It's been quick and easy to pick up and navigate the menu.

A great compact camera

This VII is replacing a V and I wish I had upgraded when the VII was introduced. I was waiting for at VIII to come out, but happened upon someone who had the V11 and this made my mind up to purchase. A great zoom facility on such a small camera and the quality of photograph is excellent. The camera allows beginners to just point and shoot, whilst for professionals it is a great tool to simply fit into a pocket.

Best Pocket Camera for professional photographers.

I have been keeping an on the RX100 since mark 1. I thought it was it and never expect it to iterates till mark 7. That shows how serious Sony is to make it almost perfect. I just got to have it before it disappears from the shelves. I never regret it. My top features are the bright and sharp EVF, the 180° tilt LCD, the excellent Zeiss lens and all the pro features in the menu like its big brother the A9. It's a pity there will be no mark 8 with full touch screen.

Excellent pocket size camera

I purchased this to replace my RX100 m3 when the flash stopped working This is umpteen times better than the m3 for functionality, zoo, touch screen focus etc, and goes a long way towards a full size top end camera range.

A quality DSLR in my pocket

I wanted something that did more or less what my Canon DLSR does, but I needed it to be smaller and more portable, as I have got to the stage where, often, no longer pack my DLSR and additional lenses when I go out hiking because I don't want the additional weight and bulk. Basically, I got to the stage where I would think "I can take decent RAW photos on my iPhone". What I was missing, though, is the creative control you have with a DSLR. I did dome research and discovered the Sony RX-100 VII. It truly is a pocket size DSLR. It has a focal range of 24mm-200mm and gives me virtually all of the control that my DSLR gives me i.e. aperture and shutter priority, depth of field, focus control, exposure control and exposure lock and so many more. The picture quality is excellent. It also has a host other photographic auto modes that deliver fantastic JPEG photos for times when you just need to snap something quickly. Then there are all the video capabilities. One more thing I will mention, it has a pop up viewfinder, which lets me use the camera the same way as I use my DSLR for most shots, although the Live View screen on the back of the camera is excellent as well. I could go on and on about this camera. It is a photographic gem and it goes everywhere with me now.

So nearly the perfect travel camera

By ARIXY

I've owned a RX100 V for some time and absolutely loved the quality of the images and the options available however it always seemed the zoom range was a bit limited and the lack of a microphone input was a real pain when shooting video. The RX100 VII has almost become my ideal travel camera in that it has both a much longer zoom range and a microphone input but, for some reason Sony has decided to take out the neutral density filter! Presumably it wouldn't fit with the longer zoom lens but i...

What a great little powerhouse of a camera.

I came from a Nikon d750 with a range of lenses from 24mm to 200mm. It got old lugging all that gear around. I wanted small but still something I could count on for great high quality images. So, I got me a Sony RX100 M7... I have had this camera now for 9mo. It takes a little getting used to and you need to spend some time with its feature set, which is enormous btw. If you do you will find a very capable camera. I am pleased with IQ and how very fast the camera is. It starts quickly, shoot...

World’s fastest hybrid AF system

The fast, highly accurate autofocus can achieve a remarkable 0.02-sec. acquisition speed, the world's fastest, to capture fleeting moments with precision. A total of 357 focal-plane phase-detection AF points covering approx. 68% of the image area – work in conjunction with 425 contrast-detection AF points and High-density AF Tracking Technology to follow even erratically moving subjects reliably.

World’s fastest hybrid AF system

Single Burst Shooting captures 7 shots at up to 30/60/90 fps in JPEG/RAW

The new Single Burst Shooting function will capture the tiniest slices of daily life, such as the very instant a tennis ball hits the racket, and turn them into works of art. Take seven shots in rapid succession at selectable speeds of 90fps, 60fps or 30fps, all triggered by a single press of the shutter button. Even fast-moving subjects can be captured thanks to the Anti-distortion Shutter, in RAW as well as JPEG image formats.

Single Burst Shooting7 captures 7 shots at up to 30/60/90 fps in JPEG/RAW

AI-based Real-time Tracking for stills and movies, and Touch Tracking

Real-time Tracking uses subject-recognition algorithms (AI) that draw on color, pattern (brightness), subject distance (depth) and face/eye information to track subjects wherever they move. Maintaining a constant, steady focus on a moving subject helps capture every important moment of action as it happens, whether taking stills or movies. Tracking can also be initiated through Touch Tracking, for both stills and movies.

AI-based Real-time Tracking for stills and movies, and Touch Tracking

Real-time Eye AF for human (stills and movies), and for animal (stills only)

Real-time Eye AF detects subject's eyes and maintains focus as the subject moves, leaving you free to compose your shot. The subject's eyes are detected with half-press of the shutter, and it's possible to select either the left or right eye of the subject. It can be used in conjunction with Real-time Tracking, in which case the focus frame can seamlessly switch between the subject's face and eyes as the subject moves.

Real-time Eye AF for human (stills and movies), and for animal (stills only)

Microphone jack, vertical-position data recording, Super slow-motion up to 960fps

Though very compact, RX100 VII includes a standard 3.5mm microphone input jack enabling the use of high-end microphones for professional audio capture for movies and vlogs. The camera supports movie recording in vertical format with embedded metadata indicating the camera's orientation. This means that movie clips in this format that are transferred to smartphones can be played back and used as is, without needing to rotate them from horizontal format.

Microphone jack, vertical-position data recording, Super slow-motion up to 960fps

Active mode image stabilization in 4K video recording, and Movie Edit add-on compatible

RX100 VII now supports "Active" mode image stabilization for 4K movies, combining optical and electronic stabilization methods for compensation up to eight times more effective13 than the standard mode. Intelligent Active mode with Full HD recording provides smoother stabilization even for shooting while walking. The Movie Edit add-on mobile app helps achieve smoothness similar to using a gimbal.

Active mode image stabilization in 4K video recording, and Movie Edit add-on compatible

Retractable OLED w/ EVF benefits and optical viewfinder immediacy

The RX100 VII maintains the convenient pocket-sized design of the RX100 family and is equipped with a high-contrast 2.35 million dot XGA OLED Tru-Finde electronic viewfinder, ensuring true-to-life image preview and playback functionality. With a single push, the EVF conveniently pops-up and automatically extends the eye-piece. It features optics with ZEISS® T coating that greatly reduces reflections.

ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar 24-200mm F2.8-F4.5 high magnification zoom Lens

The ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T 24-200mm F2.8-4.5 zoom lens covers a broad zoom range equivalent to two standard zoom lenses (24-70mm and 70-200mm), all in a very compact size. It's configured with eight aspherical lens elements to achieve maximum resolution, clarity and contrast across the entire zoom range, and all the way out to the edge of the image. Four of Sony's original AA (advanced aspherical) elements help minimize spherical, coma and chromatic aberrations.
