This lens has proven to be a solid performer as an all purpose telephoto zoom. The build quality is nice, the VC stabilization works ( however not as good as a native VR lens), and the photo quality is superb. The fact that it is so reasonably priced compared to the Nikon Z lenses is a bonus.

The lens is great on my A7Rii. Sharp, huge reach, reasonable focusing speed. It's heavy, but that's the price you pay for the reach. The accessory kit has been a bit more of a mixed bag. The UV filter, the cleaning kit, and the lens bag all seem good. The CPL is hot garbage. Just destroys image quality. Seeing as these were "free" extras, I can't complain too much. But if you're specifically interested in a CPL for this filter, plan on buying one separately.

This is a sub par lens in every way. Its sad because I wanted to really like it. Also owning a 500 pf it might not be a fair comparison.1st, the image stableization is non existant. the viewfinder experience is very shaky. Unless im shooting at 1/500 of a second at 500mm the images are soft. Thats bad. Shot a series of eagle in flight shots on my z9 and got 1 keeper out of a series of 35 shots. Did a similar test on my 500 pf and got around 90% keeper rate. also, the bird eye auto focus is off, will not stay on the birds eye. dont have this issue with my nikon lens. still, for 1,200.00 these things shouldnt happen. I'm thinking i got a bad copy seeing all the reviews on this page.

Good for what it is. Bought this after the 180-600mm Nikkor so happy with it when I just can't fit the other in my kit.

Lens works greater than expected on my X-T5. I have had some slight auto focus issues attempting to track birds in flight but simply throwing the selector from AF-C to M and back to AF-C fixed the issue. Other than that the lens performs great.

Fast autofocus and a very reasonably priced. This lens is not light weight but not noticeably heavier than the XF 100-400. You get 100mm more reach with this lens along with switches for adjustable stabilization and adjustable minimum focus right on the lens itself. Bypassing the need to use any in camera menus. Tamron has knocked it out of the park again for Fuji. The 18-300mm and the 17-70mm are high quality as well and recommend all three as having a place in my system.

100-400mm has been my "go to" focal length for years and I've used many versions in many mounts. I often find myself using the 400mm most of the time and then cropping the images. Teleconverters are not my preference for a variety of reasons. This 150-500mm seemed like a good option for me since I get a bit longer reach without the complications of a TC. I owned both the Sony 100-400 and 200-600 lenses. This Tamron competes equally with both. One thing to note is that the Tamron stays at f/5.6 out to just shy of 400mm (~390mm). So you're getting the same aperture, exposure, speed and background separation as the Sony 100-400mm at 400mm. Once I realized this fact, the Tamron became a keeper. Compared to the Sony with a TC the Tamron is faster since the Sony 100-400 is knocked down to f/8 from 226 to 560mm (with TC). The linear AF motors in this lens are fast. Really fast. On the a9 II tracking and bursts work as well as with the Sony lenses. Supposedly the burst speed is throttled to ~15 frames per second with third party lenses but in practice I don't notice any difference. I avoid using anything beyond 10fps under normal circumstances. 20 or 30 fps creates an absurd amount of shots to cull and edit. On the a7R IV this lens also performs great. Image quality is sharp across the frame at all focal lengths wide open. No need to stop down. The lens OIS ("VC") works well. I find "Mode 3" gives me the best results at the 400-500mm end. "Mode 2" panning works well helping give a sense of motion when you want it. Overall I highly, highly recommend this lens to anyone who favors the long end of 100-400mm and often finds they want a bit more reach. Yes, it's heavier then the typical 100-400 lens but it's advantages far outweigh that (pun intended) for me.

Nice lens, but a little heavy for seniors. Could have a wider f/stop?

This lens is great value for the money. It is a very useful range, and while heavy it feels like very quality material. I have only used it on a few outings so far but have been very happy with its performance on my Sony a7iii. The filter kit is back ordered and I still haven?t received it or a good substitution. The lens bag that came with this kit also does not fit the lens, but adorama sent me a replacement. For that reason I?m at 4 stars, but if they send me the filter substitute I requested I?ll update to 5.

Awesome lens for wildlife photography. Lighter and smaller than some of the other comparable focal length lenses. VC really does work wonders.

Awesome lens for still shots! NOT what I would recommend for photographing moving objects like racecars or flying birds. Overall great colors, great sharpness in good lighting and plenty of reach.

Very heavy lens and hard to adjust the zoom. Takes great photos, and a tripod would help. I shoot Backcountry wildlife which makes it too heavy to carry.

Great lens to give me the extra reach and leave room in my bag. I tested the Sony 100-400, Sigma 100-400 and Sigma 150-600 before deciding on this lens. I shoot on an A7iii so this lens keeps up just fine with the Sony 100-400 and Sigma 150-600. I will be using the lens primarily for wildlife and Landscape shots of the PNW mountains. I will be traveling to Scotland with this lens in September 2022.

I love the photos and the size. In fairness, it's my first super telephoto lens. It's not as bright as I'd like but I was happy to make the trade off for the portability. I went on a hike with it and it was heavy - I was definitely glad to have this over something wider (or that goes out to 600mm). Compression is great.

Am definitely enjoying this lens. It is well made though heavier than I had anticipated but the sharpness is worth the weight. Definitely would recommend this lens for the Sony a7RIII.

I have a passion for taking detailed pictures of hummingbirds. I tried the Sony 200-600 mm zoom lens. It was too heavy to hold and still did not focus fast enough for me to get hummers in pristine sharp focus. The is still pretty heavy, but my 75 years old body can handle it (And thank you Adorama for getting one of these beauties to me when they remain so generally not available!) Not all of my photos are keepers of course, but some are truly gorgeous and breath-taking. (I?m not exaggerating. My own breath was taken away!) Crisp corner to corner, wonderful exposure. Caveat - Must have decent light. Low light, even with ISO at 6400 just does not produce good results. Cameras used were Sony a6000 and Sony a7rii.
